It has to be a spoof, as this child does not display the slightest trace of artistic ability. Why bother with the spoof, however? It is not amusing, it is simply pointless.
I write books about children's art and I think the kid is doing just about what all kids his age do. I'm not sure what this video is really about. I think his parents are dreaming...and their interaction is disturbing. Paint the blue, paint the blue.... oh dear.

Loved it - very funny stuff, particularly because I just watched "My Kid Could Paint That," which was a fairly disturbing doc. Thanks, I needed a good lafffff....
People should be wary of abstract art child painters. Abstract act is born of a combination of deliberate placement of color, shape and texture, which is learned by life experience and a deliberate choice of going beyond the figurative.
Leo's parents are jerks. I don't know a conscientious parent who doesn't think their child isn't the best. The banal message they relate here is lost in the din of too many selfish and poor parenting - - it actually has nothing to do with their child. Bet they're glad Leo's perhaps normal. They surely couldn't handle the stuff the Olmstead's did and remain effective loving parents.
There's nothing to get, no message, no satire, no talent and I don't care how you feel. MrMike, if this is your video, it's regrettable you can't thrive on anything other than positive strokes. Whatever message could be gleaned from this video is lost because it's shot so poorly, the audio rambles aimlessly and the adults are pasty white overweight slobs who will likely die before Leo is an adult. There's nothing wrong with a completely new shoot.

This is just so mean, a far cry from funny. I watched the documentary on Marla and googled her and found this. Whether her pictures are her own or not, it's disgusting to make fun of a child. Very poor taste guys.
You just don't get it. It's not making fun of Marla -
How do you explain the exploitation of a child's supposedly genius talent at 5 years old then? Same thing here - except the filmmaker is not hurting anyone, and not digging deep in people's pockets.
but how do you know the film maker didn't just make a well crafted documentary for fame and money? We only got to see what he wanted us to see and he portrayed himself very well--I just watched it and then googled Marla and found this and it made me sad. Yeah the Dad seemed a little nuts, but all in all I think they had a beautiful little family and I think it's sad that people are tearing them down.
Steve, Sorry I think I misunderstood you, you were talking about the You Tube film and I was talking about the documentary making money...oops. I agree that it seemed unwise of the Olmsteads to "exploit" their daughter but I have a 5 year old daughter and I think it would be hard not to think that money would make her life better not worse. Hind sight is 20/20, they probably regret all of this...

the quality of this video is unbelievably bad and then it's not even in color!? the boy is painting with color -never mind it can't be made out; about "moving over marla": are you kidding? -your boy has no clue he's aimlessly scribbling, without any artistic value what so ever, as he also has no clue his parents are wanna be child-prodigy claimers, and that's all there is to this entire dumb nonsense
excuse me how can you make those assumptions i graduated w/ honors w/ a degree in fine art I have every right to disagree w/ your statement. I have never heard the term abstract cusism maybe analytical cubism is what you meant, but by saying it was a fadd was not true. A fad implies it was somewhat popular Besides Georges Braque what other cubist artists were there at the time Picasso made les demoiselles de avient?
This is great. I love the parents sense of humor. I can't believe some people think this is for real. These are probably the same idiots who watch American Idol and really convince themselves the karoake singers are true talents.
You both are really effed up. Leave your kid be, he's a normal three year old and is most likely going to have psychological problems if you continue this.
i have to say your facts are a little wrong by being able to render objects in a realistic manner does not classify you as a genius even if he actually could when he was 4 abstact cubist as you call it was not a fadd at the time, people thought picasso was crazy when he started to paint the way he became famous for and i wouldn't call abstract expressionism colorful deco
I hope the parents watch their own video and realize what jerks they are! The child is more interested in the process than the product (which is very NORMAL for his age!) This child is going to end up hating drawing or hating his parents. Not sure which will come first. Sheesh!
wow, nice parenting skills, not. "BE QUIET!" "YOU'RE DRIVING ME CRAZY!" good lord... and you are forcing this kid to draw. not even close to marla olmstead.
his parents are idiots. they force him to draw. wth, hes only three years old, you cant impose art on him. art is supposed to be a natural impulse, that comes directly from the artist. his paretns are not helping with that. they are controling him too much.
The only thing funnier than this vid is the people who actually believe that he has a gift XD. If you've seen the video portraying Marla's "Gift" you'll know that this is making fun of it..
that three year old is blessed! im an atrist also(to authority figures "graffitist") and i just have to say, let this kid do what he dose best dont force it he'll gain more skill if you just let him do it on his own and expose him to alkinds of art. i think this prodigy will be famous.
It wasn't a shitty camera (Sony handycam). I added an "old film" filter in iMovie for a grainy effect. Not sure what happened when the file was compressed by Y/T because the quality was actually quite good with the original file.
There is evil in this world, and that's the parents of this poor kid. Shame on you. Breaking News: Your kid is not an artist. He's just a typical 3 year old.
please make a decent video i cant see crap
