i don't like how he's just going off.. that groove in the beginning is amazing just as is. we know you're a guitar god jimmy, no need to get obnoxious.
I got used to it after a few listens. Sounds better than hearing Robert's voice crack every 2 minutes, like the Seattle 77 vid. This entire show is way more professional than Seattle 77, and similar foggy period gigs.
I am glad they did downtune too, this pparticular song is so much better down a full or half step than in standard. For a lot of other Zep songs I definitely agree, but definitely disagree with you on this one.
Hey, easy what you say. Cameras with autofocus will do that if something like a person's hand or back of their head gets in the frame, so it might not have been the guy's fault. At least he uploaded the video for us to see.
You know it's funny. I spent most of my life worshiping Page and still think of him as my foremost musical influence. That being said, when I look back at Zeppelin, the true glue that held this band together musically was not Bonham, not Page, Not Plant (though they all were irreplaceable) but John paul Jones. His music genius is what I think would carry a new project head and shoulders above the Page Plant albmum. God I can't wait until thsi DVD comes out.
i could be wrong (and i hope so) but i think they said they wouldnt make a dvd of this concert :S then again.. ure probably right about JPJ.. he wrote the main riff for black dog.. he's the genius behind NQ.. wow.. battle of evermore.. going to california.. aaa.. still.. he wrote most of the "commercial" songs..
@keaner17 you know, i actually agree with that statement. it's not denying credit to any of them, but i've read alot about Zeppelin and your are correct, John Paul Jones was the glue that held Zeppelin together. He is a musical genius.. but like i've stated on another vid, i'm glad they threw in the towel when Bonham passed. that makes them a TRUE rock band, they WERE a band, they stuck together, and when one fell, they all called it quits.. Rock on!! Never Forget The GREATEST DRUMMER EVER!!!!!
I never really understood the significance of it. Is the wiring of the thing different or does it just have the ZOSO symbol on it and that's why it's cool?
i dont think thats the original... i think the original had a lighter colored grill cloth, and the cabinet was a slanted front... that looks like a straight front i think.
Jimmy's #1 is a 59. If ya think about it, a n0n-page owned 59 is worth about a half million these days. Jimmy's is regarded as THE '59 of '59s. If you sold it, you'd probably be able to by Jimmy's entire collection of other guitars, plus a few Hendrix strats too!
Keith Richards '59 Les Paul" sold for over 2 million, and he only played it on a couple of TV shows and then used it as a backup! Mick Taylor remembered it as a "piece of crap that we couldn't get to stay in tune" (!) Think about the price of Jimmy's considering he played it on EVERY Led zeppelin album except the first one, not to mention The Song Remains The Same movie.
One of my favorites. Atmospheric and otherworldly. Page rules. Plant sounds great too. I like it when he sings it straight instead of yelping and woo-hooing and rephrasing things. It can dilute it a bit. But here they sound really great. My first fave band when I was a lad. Hope I get to see them.
how much didi you pay for one ticket!!!!

Hell that sounded more like the tool version...did tool tune down to d??
pugs2300 2 years ago
Tool probably tuned down to C or C#, but I'm really not sure how far down they went.
Led Zeppelin used to do this tuned down to D live - Song Remains the Same was down tuned to D.
This sounds like how they played it when I saw the Page Plant tour back in '98.

Tool play it in D

Really, because it sounds even lower. I would have bet anytthing C#. I'm going to have to dig up that cd now.... it's been a while

explain me that, i am new into music and i really want to know what that means

well standard tuning is e and they tuned the whol concert down to d which is a full step... and well it sucks lol but roberts voice cant take it

ok thanks

They didn't tune every song down, more like half.

So is he playing #1 or a replica?

My gander is that he is playing his "58
Les paul. However the "ed1275 doublenecks" are
most definately replicas-Wouldn't dare risk
the "fabled" real ones.!!!

I read somewhere that his collection of guitars is 1500+. His original ED-1275 doubleneck was valued at over $1 million I believe.
