  • 1:41 Zappa is magic

  • 10 People got it from the toilet seat...

  • Excellent Footage. The man is a musical genius. His instrumental works are stupendous.

  • Thanks Frank, 500 characters isn't nearly enough. Thanks for bringing more than music to the hearts and minds of those who thumb their nose rather than roll over.

I'll not miss you ... I'll need only refer to the massive body of work you left.

  • Io sono un nuovo fan di Frank, fino a poco tempo fa non posso credere di averlo giudicato per il nome, mmentre ora mi piace un sacco

  • HAD THE PLEASURE TO SEE HIM IS STILL THE BEST SHOWMAN TO THIS DAY

  • 10 people hurt when they pee

  • this is just about word for word my life

  • What I love about Frank so damn much is that he composed it all and then gets to play it on stage for the whole world to hear his music now that's great!

  • @0firefighter Ja vol, and sad to say but at least we now have his music for always

  • Sounds like all musos 1st band...no drugs, just beers and playing the same song over...cos it's your only song...

  • Something about this song makes me happy

  • more like: 9 persons got the chance to play the song that goes like....

  • Such a brilliant musician, one of my greatest regrets i that he died before I was born. Would have loved to see him in concert

  • @JkITZD Me too i love FZ im 19 and most people my age dont even know who he is.

  • 9 persons never get the chance to play the song that go like....

  • I can't undersant 9 people out of more than 285.000. Could they post why they don't like this?

  • Can't say enough good things about this song

  • VIVA ZAPPA

  • '"Why does it hurt when I pee" laughed 'til i cried... it just hit me that way, Frank was a genius+

  • a total genius . i was very lucky to see him at knebworth in 78. magnificent.

  • 1980 juin 11, Palais des sports de Paris, j'étais dans la salle avec une fille qui s'appelait Claudie, ce concert était fabuleux,

  • this guy is GOD!!!! no he isn't he hated the church ^^ was this concert released on dvd??? does anybody know? i have BBSNX, does humor belong in music, live in barcelona dub room special and a dvd from the early 70s don't remember the name, has dog meat and so on on it...but does anybody know if this was released on DVD??? PLEASE ANSWER it would help me alot!!!!

  • Why is he conducting? These aren't complex songs. I don't get it. These tunes aren't G Spot Tornado or Be Bop, etc. His musicians should be able to tackle them without Zappa conducting, in my opinion.

  • @richcapo You are joking, yes?

  • @Jornev No, I'm not.

  • @richcapo Then you just need to apply some brain work to understand why he's "conducting" the band during this song titled "Why Does It Hurt When I Pee".

  • @Jornev There's no need to get nasty, Jornev.

  • @richcapo Sorry, but I don't think I got too nasty. I just think you haven't really thought about the question you pose. It's obviously not a very important matter either, so don't take it like that.

  • Kick ass

  • Well hello

  • Jesus is that Tommy Mars?

  • @sugarcubist

Yep I reckon.... Tommy Mars, Steve Vai,,,, He scoooped em' all out

  • zappa & jaco; Survivors in a musical heaven

    .!!!

  • I was fortunate enough to see Zap on this tour at the now gone Sam Houston Coliseum in Houston-tis was 30 years ago, but what I remember most was Zappa was really an incredible guitar player-he had a Les Paul, it seems, he sat on a stool and jammed for what seemed like a half hour maybe more-I told a young friend about how amazed I was at his guitar playing-she said "Who's Frank Zappa?"I explained he wasnt known for his guitar playing,His sense of humor and creativity were his bag

  • GOOD QUALITY ................. its shit

  • @spaff61 for a 1980 video, converted and uploaded on youtube, it's ok ^^

  • lol "when does it hurt when i pee"

  • Wow, Ike AND Ray in the camp!!! I have a SBD Boot of the Ahoy gig of this same tour and it is one of my fave FZ gigs. So smooth and Jazzy this line up... Arthur Barrow sounds like Jaco!!! I love the augmented Pick me I'm Clean/Society Pages/ I'm a Beautiful Guy/Beauty Knows no Pain... Genius Genius Genius...

  • that wasn't on the Saxophone

  • I'm only sorry that i never got to see the master in action.Joes garage 1,2 and 3 are classic masterpiece's.

  • I love the Alice Cooper parody that begins at 3:20. Just wonderful and poignant considering Zappa's involvement in Alice's rise to fame.

  • Hey!

    Down in Joe's Garage

We didn't have no dope or LSD

    But a coupla quartsa beer

Would fix it so the intonation

    Would not offend yer ear

And the same old chords goin' over 'n' over

    Became a symphony

We would play it again 'n' again 'n' again

'Cause it sounded good to me Zappa IS GOD

  • I know he wrote these all, but it's still amazing that he and the band could play those pieces live.

  • Comment removed

  • You`re absolutely right..

  • Stratcat- you got it from the toilet seat...duh!

  • ah the Fender champ.

  • WHY does it hurt when i pee?

  • think this was the 1st time i ever got stoned!!

  • Guess you only get one chance in life to play -Well no-one told me about her... Damn! Farking genius!!! At least I got to see the '88 shows & met him (in the family home = P) in May '89 to make up for all the shows I was too young to have seen. Happy FZ day (December 21) to all!

  • @kerry5101971

Ya I saw the 88 show twice. It was excellent!

I have a lot of his LP's on their original labels wich are out of print not to mention a bunch of other Zappa collectibles.

  • El Ostaz (the Master).

  • Ray White, Frank Zappa, and Ike Willis are the lead singers and performers in this band. At this time (1980) there were no U.S. rock bands that had black lead singers. Zappa used black lead singers (and instrumentalists, ie. George Duke, Ernie Watts, Napoleon Murphy Brock) throughout the 1970s, a time when U.S rock music was almost completely segregated.

  • uhmm ever hear of Think Lizzy?

  • Hip hip hurray for all the clase they show!

  • i love the different tempo and progression. too bad they combined it with why does it hurt! greatest songwriter in history.

  • ONE TWO THREE FOUR let's see if you got some more!

  • One of my fav ever! This song always makes me happy!

I was 13 years old and ready to rock woot........

  • Great Frank!!! R.I.P

Your name and your music will live forever

  • From the girls in the neighborhood They'd all come over 'n' dance around like... Twenty teen-age girls dash in and go STOMP-CLAP, STOMP-CLAP-CLAP... So we picked out à stupid name Had some cards printed up for a coupla bucks 'N' we was on our way to fame Got matching suits 'N' Beatle Boots 'N' a sign on the back of the car 'N' we was ready to work in a GO-GO Bar.... Hes so damn good!!! When he died I was just 4 I didnt have the opportunity and the honor to watch Frank Zappa
  • 1985, FZ and band arrive in Orlando. I'm a bellman at a Marriott. I stood in the lobby and watched him check in. I took Ike Willis to his room. Tickets were given to the entire bellstaff.

  • awesome story

  • @Quickstoptim Man that is really really cool. I wasn't even alive yet. Thank's for the story, I'd rather live it vicariously than never at all!

  • @Quickstoptim That's cool..... I only got to see him once in around 88 or 89... Broadway the Hardway Tour..

  • @Leebrown103 once is awesome,,,,/me is jealous

  • @Leebrown103 ... it was in '88, which was my 1st concert ever when my dad took me to see him when I was in 4th grade!! I was gratefully born & raised on Zappa music!

  • @Quickstoptim i dont think he toured in 1985.

  • Peccato che hanno cambiato l' intonazione... è troppo alta! Preferisco il Joe's Garage del CD... Ma Frank è un grande!!!!!!

  • is frank not god? muthafucka is a genius.

  • pure genius!!!!1

  • La pièce est excellent mais, malheureusement, l'enregistrement est mauvais.

  • FZ = Genius! He could do things, no other person in the world was able to!

  • this is my favorite Zappa project! Zappa was and will always remain a genius, although he is sadly gone (R.I.P) his music and idea's will live on for generations! I love this guy!

  • I love this song!

  • Frank was so great....his death was a huge loss to music.

  • Also a loss to logic and common sense. Frank always saw through Bull Shit.

  • @75starsuck not only for music...

  • @75starsuck That's an understatement! He was one of the greats!

  • Comment removed

  • @75starsuck his death was a huge loss to the whole world.

  • Who's the Drummer??

  • in this video im not sure but he normally played with terry bozzio.but somtimes he would play with some others

  • David Logeman. He filled in after Vinnie Colaiuta quit.

  • It okay

  • Frank without Vinnie ain't Frank:)

  • Questo personaggio che io ho amato e amo molto, ha regalato a tutti gli intenditori di musica tutti i tipi di musica, non nè nasceranno più come lui purtroppo, starai sempre nel mio cuore forever

  • Genio!!!!!

  • Interesting - is this the only Logeman drumming video? He's very antiseptic compared to Bozzio & Collaiuta isn't he....

  • i love way zappa would speed up his songs

  • I was at the Zappa-concert at Calf Island in 1973 in Oslo. My first hippie concert, only five years old, and Zappas music hit a chord in me. When I was ten I walked into a mall in Miami, put all my dough on the counter and bought my first 2 LP´s (!) ever, Sheik Yerbouti and Pink Floyd The Wall. The dude behind the counter was so impressed that he gave me a special edition of The Wall. Zappa was a rhythm genius and the first choice of all musicians.

  • why was he impressed?

  • agh... grande zappa...

  • Tommy Mars kicks ass.

  • the transition from joe's to wdihwip was awesome. Why doesn't youtube offer a freetranslation type service for people of a certain language so like english speakers would get the spanish on youtube automatically translated for them.

  • It wasn't very large...I think is one of the most beautiful song by FZ, the greatest musician of XX century!

  • Zapppa Sigh

There will never be another like him

  • alguien sabe a que cancion pertenece el fragmento de la cancion del minuto 1.44

  • When ever I have time, I put my headphones on and enjoy the music of this genius composer! FZ is still my absolute hero. I saw over 30 live concerts between 1974 incl. the last concert in frankfurt germany with the modern art ensemble (yellow shark) - his music and art always cheers me up....

  • as if thats terry bozzio... is it? i dunno anymore... watch again?

  • Nice perm, Terry.

  • It's not Terry Bozzio, it's David Logeman. He played on You Are What You Is.. He didn't stay very long for some reason. He was really good, though.

  • Thanks for the correction.

  • yea, I think he bridged that gap between Vinnie and Chad. Vinnies a tough act to follow.

  • this song ROCKS

  • OMFG He's charly garcia he's a singer here in argentina very famous but it's very very look like(sorry for my english)

  • Es verdad, esta igual a charly jajajaja

charly seria el zappa argentino haciendo mucho la vista gorda :P

  • why is the volume level so low?!!!

  • Ike Willis is the man. Greatest hat ever.

  • Comment removed

  • Actually Shin, Mr. Zappa almost ALWAYS conducted his bands from 1972 - 1988, no matter if they were playing live or during rehearsal. U really should research a subject B4 U comment. Especially when it comes to FZ!!

  • Actually, I was commenting on the way he was conducting. You really should stop being a presumptuous ass?

  • Well then you should say what U really mean. U just say.."Lol, Frank Zappa conducting."... nothing about the way he was conducting.

F.Z. is our households "role model/hero", so we almost take comments about him personally. And his music is so technically hard to play, even the top musicians in the world that he hires to play his music needs to be conducted.

    F.Z. Lives!!

  • This is asinine. I'm just going to delete my comment.

  • if you enjoyed this footage i highly recommend buying his LIVE IN NEW YORK cd 00)

  • Look at how much they all pay attention when he conducts. What a fantastic performer, and what a fantastic bunch of musicians.

  • Check out my vid response RARE!!!

  • I love this version, it really rocks, great musicians.

  • A bizarre, hilarious, highly intelligent, brilliant, sarcastic and weird man all tied into one very unique individual...

  • What an amazing and influential artist. He will be missed dearly.

  • thank god for frank zappa down with downers up with Frank Zappa

  • awesome video. thanks again for the post.

  • "Information is not knowledge / Knowledge is not wisdom / Wisdom is not truth / Truth is not beauty / Beauty is not love / Love is not music / MUSIC IS THE BEST" F.Zappa

  • I have that shirt :)..I also have a dog named Sy-Borg :)

  • why does it hurt when i pee?! :_____(

  • I don't want no doctor to stick a needle in me. Why does it hurt when I pee? I got if from the toilet seat (bis) It jumped right up And grabbed my meat. I got if from the toilet seat . My b*lls feel like a pair of maracas (bis) Oh I probably got the Gonoccokakakus My b*lls feel like a pair of maracas. Why does it, why does it, why does it huuuuurt When I pee?
  • Love the zappa!!...noone can make you laugh and be in awe of musicianship that way...beautiful

  • cynicism is clearly an ingredient for the dont stop and keep going theory

  • R.I.P FRANK

  • fuckin quality

  • Anybody know who the singer/guitarist is?

I also have to say thanks for sharing this vid. Zappa's a genius, to bad he's gone now.

  • I think the guitar/vox is Warren Cucurullo , Superb voice . saw them live in Brighton , Fantastic !

  • It's Ray White and Ike Willis!

  • Ike Willis

  • Thx!

  • nice variation on the keyboard solo

  • i like this version, more upbeat version than the other tube i was just listening to, along with the transition tune... (i dig both versions)

thing is, the sounds a bit low here... any chance you can raise the volume? i think it'd improve the vid quite a lot...

either way, thanks for postin frank live...

  • to whoever posted this.many thanks.use condoms because you dont know where shes been.

especially in london on a friday night.ou might not be the first !

  • this is the central, scrrrrrrrRUUT~tinizer!

    hi!, ...it's me again. 8D

  • i think terry bozzio

  • Right on, Brutha.

  • actually it's david logeman on the drums, not bozzio.

  • My bad, thanks for the correction, 8D

  • man this is great music here, such a catchy song. think im gonna go listen to the record now, lol

  • who's on the drums??

  • Joe's garage is the best album ever.

  • Who thinks Zappa looks a little bored here? I think the more 'comedy' songs got old quite quickly with him live and, personaly, like to see him playing a guitar.

  • If this is "good quality", my grammophone is high definition...

  • lol
