The Brian Lara franchise is being abandoned, but cricket sim games will still be produced by the same company - codemasters will release "ashes cricket 2009" in july on pc and next generation consoles, which im guessing is the successor to the lara series.

According to Wikipedia: "Ashes Cricket 2009 is an upcoming Cricket sports game developed by Transmission Games and published by Codemasters in the UK and by Atari in Australia". So no, I dont think EA is involved at all. Which is a good thing because EA have never made a decent cricket game.

crazy aint it. everytime u hit the ball, it goes for 4 lol as for bowling, all u need to do is swing it - n the batsmen dont have a clue lol

yeah, its good for multiplayer with mates who are also into it, but the AI's too easy to beat. I recently bowled out the Aussie's for 101 with Scotland (my home nation), then knocked off the score for 2 wickets lost. On the hardest mode possible of course. I noticed the AI never blocks or leaves, and tend to score quickly but lose wickets too. That said, if they fix the AI and a few other bugs for the next game, it could be awesome - BLC 2007 has great potential in graphics too.

p.s. - DON'T DON'T DON'T buy ea 07 instead of blc 07 unless you're aussi or english...BLC 07 is leaps and bounds ahead...the ashes look good in ea 07...and that's just about it...same graphics as 05..

because they are not licensed to use their real names otherwise they would have to pay millions! If you buy the pc version there are lots of fan-made patches that correct the names!
