My Dad's getting a new one of these, only because they're the only practical station wagon any more that has a manual transmission. Caliber...don't get me started. That hunk of garbage wouldn't start probably :P
Mine is a 2003 and has never had to be repaired. I am so lucky to have had such a great little car for almost 5 years now. Gas milage is not so great but, I really recommend it.
I bought a 2001 pt cruiser LTD yesterday. I absolutely adore the thing. Getting in and out is so much easier then my brother Grand am, the acceleration to merge is fantastic, roominess is awardable. Fantastic buy, I am happy.
I've owned 35 cars including Cadillacs and Mercedes Benz's. I still own the Benz. It's a fine car and has recieved a factory award which is displayed as a radiator ornament badge. Of all the cars I've owned, my PT Cruiser is the easiest car to drive. I've had lots of new cars including the PT Cruiser, but the PT is the best...at any price. I hope Chrysler stays in business and continues to make the PT Cruiser.
