  • I wish i was that lucky at age 8...

  • Wish i could buy it and eat it page by page in front of live television.

  • um... WOW the rarest comic in the world!!!!

  • I don't care if someone calls me a nerd for collecting, When I sell my small but starting over again collection for thousands of dollars haters are gonna be jealous.

  • why is extremely rare in inverted commas?

  • John Dolmayan has this issue now SYSTEM OF A DOWN OWNS THIS SHIT (or at least the drummer

  • I've actually heard that other copies of Action Comics 1 have sold for 1-1.5 million dollars

  • jesus christ, i can feed entire families for years with that kind of money. or get far more entertaining collectibles and shit. easily one of the most overrated superheroes of all time. call me a hater but fuck superman!!! lol

  • i dont get it in the 40s it was 10 cents and now its worth hundreds of thousands of dollars

  • @JETSFAN2017 first of all it was printed to cover the costs of making the comic and in large quantities. In time many copy's got tossed away (1938 is a long way to go for a comic printed on cheap paper) or recycled or whatever. Now there are just 10 copy's in "good" condition in the world, and with that rarity level it's really just about how much the collector wants to give to have the rarest of rare comics. It's fun how collectibles work.

  • @JETSFAN2017

There aren't that many good condition copies left and it's considered to be of historical and cultural signifigance owing to Superman

Part of it was, paper was needed for the war effort and as a result many collections were donated by parents who didn't want their kids to read comics. Others were destroyed during the Anti-Comics Hysteria, or were simply thrown out when their owners grew up or became forgotten in attacs and basements or families kept them for sentimental reasons

  • @MrMartinx16 Thats badass dude, what was its grade?

  • Superman sucks! Go Spiderman!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TurboDude9111

    spiderman is gay

  • This should be for free...just like a Bible

  • what is the approxiamate size of a golden age book from 1939? (width and length)

  • @ethangonzales52 A Golden Age book from 1939 would be larger than a modern comicbook and some of them have limited coloring depending on the company publishing the book, for instance a superhero book might have more coloring than say a comicbook having nothing but newspaper reprints which might have several pages colored red, The page count is usually 64-68 pages.

    All American Comics 5 Aug 1939 Fine (width 7 1/2" length 10 1/2")

    Feature Funnies 18 Mar 1939 VG (width 7 1/2" length 10 1/2")

  • @ethangonzales52 Plus you've got to account for things like the comic book's publisher, one publisher might have a larger or smaller size than another,

Large Feature Comics (1939-1943) for instance were about the size of Life Magazine.

Factors like Spine roll and trimming can affect the size of a Golden Age comic from 1939.

Many Golden Age books (1938-1945) were somewhat reduced in size and page count from 1943-1945 onwards due to the WW2 paper drives.

  • I've got an Action Comics 26 in VG, not the same as having an Action Comics 1

or a Detective Comics 27 but beggars can't be choosers.

  • @cha5 very very lucky you are

  • @birdhouse345 Yeah it was a lucky buy,

I bought it about 15 years ago for $150,

I'm sure it would go for more than that these days.

It has an ad for Batman 1 in it which came out around the same month in 1940.

  • Holy Crap! I was just In Midtown Comic's yesterday! hahah

  • A book o' this caliber is a rare gem. Like the holy grail o' comics.

  • Why is he selling this? I mean yeah that amount of money is great but it's the first appearance of Superman 0.0!

  • John Dolmayan bought this Action Comics #1 for 317,000 dollars. Thats nothing compared to what the big 8.5 one sold for 1,500,000 dollars. Its incredible to think comics are worth this much nowadays, I just picked up an X-Men #1 from 1963 in a grade of 2.0 and its still worth a good 1100 dollars, cant wait to show it off at the next comic con in dallas

  • see one of those look be like "oh 10 cents ill take 10"

  • wtf

  • wasn't even a mint copy just 6.0. BOO!

  • And now Batman has beaten the super man comics batman has gotten 1,075,000$ off there earliest issue published in 1938!

  • The tenth season of smallville about superman without the costume is about to begin, seems he's as popular as ever. Lost to end after 6 seasons, 24 after 8. Original Star Trek and Lost in Space were 3 each.

  • In Feb 2010 a Grade 8.0 copy of this sold at auction for one million dollars. I agree with the commentator - rare comic books are a great investment.

  • i collect figures and comic books i would be scarded to even touch a great condition 1

  • Wow, and just recently, a grade 8.0 Action Comics #1 was sold for $1,000,000!!! =0

  • its awesome hey action comics sold for a mill, i just put up a vid about that story

  • i meant go to dakenhowlett channel to see my action comics vid. teamtiffin is my family channel : )

  • i ACTUALLY do have that action comic, my dad handed it down and its in plastic seal, i had NO IDEA how much it is worth !!! dont know if i should sell it, cause i ws told to keep it in the family !

  • dude my freinds dad gave him one thas mint

  • make a video of it for us please, and share it

  • When i restore my Superman #1 issue i will have my video on here to show you my Superman #1 and collection its def has alot of goodies for those of you who are fans of the Man of Steel or comics in general

  • I aquired Superman #1 in a beat up condition cause buying one for over 10,000 was out of my reach and budget but dam to have a Action #1 if i had one i would sell it make some money buy a Superman #1 for 15,000 in a better condition and then invest the rest of the money..To tap out a issue at 1,000,000.00 i don`t think there is gonna be another one to do that unless there is a 9.0 scale which is highly unlikely. You my friend if your not a collector sell it if ur in need of finances i would.

  • As a collector, it is indefinately hard to find an Action Comics #1, and if you find one, your the luckiest piece of shit on the planet earth, there are also a ton of reprints so here is what I discovered on how you can tell its original, look at the top of the comic where it says, #1 and June 1938, in reprints, that line will be a light sky looking blue, if its original, it will be a dark navy blue

  • i want it

  • This and Detective Comics #27 (first Batman) are my dream comics, if I could find them say at a garage sale, I would shit my pants for 10 minutes straight

  • Geez. I wish I could go back in time and buy several of these babies.

  • the drummer from system of a down bought this best unrestored copy in existence

  • lucky man i would give my left and right nut for it....Oh well i hope i`m lukcy enough to find one in a garage sale someday but until then i feel lucky cause i have a Superman #1 first origin page sealed in plastic...

  • High value! I can't buy it!

But Only copy other books. Cheap!

  • then why did you look it up?

  • put them n the oven thats smart!

  • is it smart to put comics in a fridge please asnwer?

  • Absolutely not. Never under any condition do that. Store them in a plastic sleeve with an acid free backing board in dry location at room temp. The fridge will ruin a comic.

  • just asking because this guy did

  • thats not a frigse its a safe. dumbass.

  • ha ok

  • There are more copiees out there some where. My dad found three huge boxes of comic books in this deceased Jewish guys worn down house. It contained number 4 color comics, xmen #1, green lantern #1 and many others. So don't think there's not another copy out there somewhere.

  • may i ask why your dad was at some dead jews house?

  • He renovates old houses. The house was vacant for a long time.

  • did he take em?

  • What do you think? If you were in a house that was empty for years and no one was around would you take them?

  • You are absolutely right....

  • It;s a piece of history. Worth it at any price.

  • :O why dident the camraman punch that guy in the face and rob that shit

  • @hillbillyfat I have hearded about repairing cars and old stuff, but i have never heard about restoring comick books. How the motherfucker do you restored a comic book?

  • @hillbillyfat expensive crap...

  • yep when I was a kid at age 15 it was going for just $400

  • Wow, that's hilarious. You must be a professional comedian.

  • Without that issue, comics never would have taken off.

  • John Dolmayan bought this for $317,000 btw

  • John Dolmayan was actually the middle man for Gene Simmons, who bought the book. Take it easy.

  • i know john

  • @TehPwnator r u sure? go to the site, and you'll see two examples of the num. 1 superman and it sold for 1,5m USD and 1m USD

  • Can you imagine finding that beauty? Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That book sold for $317,000. Highest priced paid for a comic book in an auction

  • i had a same cover comic but it was some other superhero holding an suv instead...it was some dc comic

  • Now lets tell everyone at the Associated Press to just come to NYC for the American Patriot is there & he will not stop ever seeking justice.

Google American Patriot Jeff Bootstraps Fisher &scream everywhere Al Gore World Peace Forever

I have many college students in the city asking questions now about Election Fraud.

They are glad that Ron Paul & Dennis Kucinich really are also true patriots & want Bay Point School exposed as well.

In NYC great thanks also goes to Al Sharpton.

  • If you don't have anything to say about this incredibly rare comic book, then don't post! This is Action Comics #1 people, you obviously don't realize the importance of this great comic book! Lets hear some more reactions to the actual comic itself! I'd love to know what people are thinking!

  • IMPORTANT: to anyone that doesn't understand how badly I want this, I'd like for you to understand that if my new born baby fell out of my left hand and this comic fell out of my right hand, I would use both of my hands to save my precious copy of Action Comics #1!!!! I'm making this my life goal to find a copy of one of these!

  • Please contact me if you have one (not for sale, I have no money right now...) but if you want someone to actually SAVE this comic and protect it, then pass it down to someone else who deserves it and would love it the same way I would, then I'm your man! C'mon someone give me a chance!

  • You act like its a puppy or a kitten -.- never the less if i had it i wud sell it

  • My friend may I say....YOU ARE ONE SICK PUPPY. I love my comic books BUT when it comes to my kid...screw em! they ain't that important.

and if you were joking, SO WHAT! still a dumb thing to say.

  • wow u wud drop ur kid for a picture book of a magically strong man =.=

  • That guy's justification for buying the comic book could be used for spending 250k on anything... Not exactly a great endorsement, but I supposed whoever is going to buy it couldn't be swayed by anything other than a sex proposal from a woman.

  • OMG another non issue. When will the media stop trying to fucking entertain us and just give us the facts...I don't want your opinions or personal beliefs, I don't want to laugh or be amazed. I just want to know what important issues happened today and why.

  • :)

    :(

    how stupid

  • 8th

  • 8th

  • Man,

I wonder how the comic industry is doing, its just not the same anymore

  • Wow, $250,000 for toilet paper...

  • lol xD
