Although I won't argue TNG was a better show jus VOY showcased more of the borg, most of the time janeway ran unless she had a trick up her sleeve or plan she tried to stay as far away from the borg at all times,,, I agree tho we didnt get enough borg in Ds9 but think about it this way VOY character selection was amazing because you had to see the same starfleet officers for 6 or 7 seasons

This clip is from the first episode of DS9 depicting an event that happened during TNG (season 3 and 4). They did it to tie in Sisko to an existing Star Trek event and give him a back story. The battle itself was never seen on screen until DS9. Just look up "Battle of Wolf 359" on wikipedia.

The one thing that was screwed about the borg in voyager was their transwarp. And that friggen hub they had in the last episode. WHY THE HELL ISNT THE FEDERATION ALLREADY ASSIMILATED? if the borg can transwarp almost instantly across the galaxy. Wat the hell are they sending one cube in first contact for? Like seriously. Why dont they open a portal with that hub they have, send in a thousand cubes and assimilare earth in about one second? i thot of that when i was NINE. but the borg couldnt? wtf

My guess is that they were still busy doing stuff in the Delta Quadrent, and they didn't see the Federation or its neighboring powers to be advanced enough start an entire invasion of the Alpha/Beta Quadrents. The cubes they were sending might just have been to probe the Federations capabilities or to test new ways of assimilation(like time travel). The Borg would have started a true invasion of the Federation once they had finished assimilating the more advanced species in the Delta Quadrent.

yeah, The Borg pretty much owned Enterprise D and the rest of Starfleet but later on Voyager pretty much owned The Borg and even beat them at their own game and in their home territory too thanks to Starfleet's past experience with the Borg along with technology that would not exist for another 30 years and beyond.

They were in the Delta Quadrant, where the Borg roamed most. Of course they were bound to pop up time to time. It's not like they were in the Alpha Quadrant where there were virtually NO encounters. It was just a higher encounter rate since they were IN that part of the quadrant where Borg are. I always was in fear whenever the Borg showed up, personally.

In Voyager, it was both funny and sad watching how pitiful and stupid this great villain had become. Like when Voyager beamed a torpedo aboard one of their ships. Instead of the Borg just beaming the torpedo out into space, they tried to defuse it! This was the once awesome Borg Collective, with its billions of minds from thousands of species all working as one to overcome any obstacle, and now they cant even solve a simple problem. Crap Voyager killed one of the greatest villain species in ST.

They truly did a number on the Borg. It was an abstract menace, faceless dread, ruthless efficiency, and instead we received yet another 'beam and torpedo' race, a trademark staple in the Trek franchise.

The conflict between species 8472 (bipedal drudgery) and the Borg should have show-cased a lot more forms of space-combat orientated weapons tech. Instead we had the Borg taking on the Vorlon rejects with Romulan style disruptors and torpedoes. Pathetic.

WHATTTTT!!!! Voyager Soooooo owned.... Wagon trail across the stars cut off from any support... it was a miracle they made it back they were one of lik 100's of ships pulled into the gamma quadrent by the CARETAKer.. the only one that made it back.. Love that episode whn they find the only other federation ship still alive. Captain janeway is selfrightious but which SF captain isnt

1. It was the DELTA Quadrant.

2. All the other ships were sent back back the Caretaker. Voyager just happened to get shafted when Janeway's first major act of stupidity was to blow up their only way home.

3. The "cut of from any support" you mentioned. Granted this was true but it was so badly handled. the ship was reset and automatically repaired after every episode. It was just total bullshit. Show down the whole concept.

@djm2A I just cannot defend Voyager for how bad it was. It even disregarded it's own (and i use the term loosely) continuity. It just became a series of bottle episodes that rarely amounted to anything. Example... in Equinox, Ransom asks Janeway how many times she's broken the Prime Directive to protect her crew. "Never" she replies. BULL BLOODY SHIT!!! lol

@djm2A I confess the first 2 seasons of Enterprise were awful but at 3 and 4 were brilliant. The show actually leaped in a new direction with an ongoing story like in DS9. A major improvement that elevated it above Voyager for me.

First Contact kinda started it, introducing the Borg Queen, which gave the Borg a somewhat flawed, more emotional face to it. The Queen was emotional, being seductive towards Data, being "fond" of Picard, then vindictive, showing rage. Maybe the Borg wouldn't have gotten silly at times during Voyager if the writers had maintained the Borg as leaderless, with one simple, mechanical goal: to assimilate all species and technology in the universe.

Yes, this is the actual battle of Wolf 359. In Star Trek, The Next Generation, all you saw was the aftermath at Wolf 359, but this is the actual battle and what happened.
