This is my fav final fantasy besides 7. Best game ever.

I think to understand any final fantasy, you'd have to put yourself into the main characters perspective on things.. Some of the older games before 6 lacked heart to the game or the emotional outputs. But through and through, i'm a final fantasy fan and the games were just enjoyable for me, i'll probably be playing them till i'm 80 (Which is another 60 years. lol)

@acommodore I agree with you. In my personal opinion, all of the heroes have their own appeal and touch on different facets of the human personality. They're like different colors of the spectrum; some are similar, but they are all different shades in themselves. Each hero has his own story to understand, and thus, his own frame of mind.

As it is, I think Zidane and Tidus are pretty laid back compared to the others and it's a breath of fresh air but that doesn't mean that the other games weren't good.

Squall has obvious emotional and social issues from being abandoned and an orphen...and he basically was raised in a military school and forced to lead when all he wanted was to be left alone.

So both characters had every right to be emo. Not every final fantasy character will be all happy and that's what makes Zidane special but that doesn't mean Squall or Cloud aren't cool characters.

Cloud was what? Had to watch as the person he looked up to murdered people in his hometown including his mother? Was experimented on for what, five years and had to watch his bestfriend die protecting him? Was forced to lead a group to save the world? Sorry, but I think he has every right to be a bit upset.

this final fantasy was great! it really redeemed the series after those overrated and crappy FF games. this and the super nintendo FF titles were the best in the series. PERIOD

@the0edge0master ff9 is already on psn however the card game being online isnt but thats a cool idea. infact all the psx ff games are on psn except anthology and chronicles at the moment. i bet they will get added though.

Final fantasy IX is the best! FFX and FFVI are my other favorites but FFIX is just the best! The characters are perfect and funny, the world and all the places are awesome, the music is great (I´ll never forget when I first heard "You´re not alone"), the story Is amazing. And I really love how all the characters learn who they are along the story! I was really disappointed in FFXIII. It started okay but the story somehow broke apart.... And I didn't like XII either... : (

what these kids dont relize is that this is the best final fatasy in recent memory. it didnt have an emo lead or use super attractive girls to sell their games. this game was the CLOSEST thing to final fantasy than any other game in the ps1-ps2-ps3 era.

and this was sakaguchi's favorite ff game.

@trago1337 final fantasy 9 was surley a master piece. My first Final Fantasy was 8 than i played 9, 10 and 7 and 12. Final Fantasy 10 was the best followed by 9 and 8.

7 and 12 were also good.

@EliroX904 There wasn't really a moment in VII at all where Cloud was "emo". He was either in his Zack's SOLDIER persona, suffering from a silent wheelchair-bound mental meltdown, or telling everyone "Let's mosey!"

@trago1337 Exactly. All these cloud fan boys who only played 7 and 8 didnt have a clue and sulked because final fantasy 9 wasnt emo enough.

FF9 was a true fantasy. It was a fantastic change of setting and styles. Everything about the game was majestic and Zidane was not a protaganist who felt sorry for himself. He was positive and such a likeable character. Vivi was one of the greatest characters in gaming history too.

Theres never been a game so magical.

And the best part was that it did its job. It whisked you to a world of magic, swords and mystery. Easily one of the best, if not the best final fantasy.There's good reason Sakaguchi loved this game.
