Thanks for uploading this. I've never been there but I always dream that someday I'll have a chance to see that chapel in person one day. Jim Boyte was my dad for those of you that might have been there for that first service Christmas eve 1957.
Stationed there in 62-63. Mostly paved then and after a month was in the new buildings and out of the quonset huts. Three man rooms. Worked at point site. Pretty much hated the place and the Army in general.
Det 4 all of 1964-ASA Comm Center. We had it pretty good, new builds and paved roads. First two months I spent in the huts, and where they cold. Great beach and we all shaired a sail boat during the summer months. But it was a long 11 months and 10 days. New base commander called a meeting and gave us the finger say this is what I think of this place. Things went down hill from there. It was great to get on the Otter and fly out of there.
I was at Det 27 (Manzarali Station - Site 23 - 23 k's outside of Ankara) from early '66 to late '67. Although we didn't have the Black Sea at our disposal, our site was a country club compared to this.
Wow, great video. I was stationed there in 1961. Just after you filmed this. Brings back many memories 50 years later. We moved into the new buildings right before I left. Big improvement from those little huts we lived in and no running water. Out houses and mud every where. Great experience though.

Assigned there from 1987-1988. Not much I recognized of the place in this video. Didn't expect to either.

I was an MP there in 70-71. We had a lot more pavement and sat. dishes. Not too bad a duty station, no bullets flying at you.
