This kicks ass!! Sadly Van & I are old people and what I've heard that the young ones call music is pitiful. I will go into obscurity but Van will live a long time after he & I both are gone.
"Van, is a Living Testament of a Musical Legend" . you'll Hear that Motown Rythym feel there. [Why are singers & Bands ? so up the shit these days , Go back home and stay in the closet.] at least Until, 2012 when we visit the astral plane for a week...
You can definitely hear where Springsteen got most of his early material in this song. Van had an amazing sense of lyricism and could always put together a killer band.
People think too much in terms of past/present when it comes to art. A song that was released in 1971 is every bit as new as a song released in 2011; once it's made and put out, it enters a timeless realm - in which it isn't it's release date that makes it good, bad or indifferent, but simply it's quality as a piece of art.
@MadsAndersen1 u r right, timeless classicals stay in power forever.check this guy mozart,he is been on the top 40 for 200 years so far,and he will stay for another 1000 years.
@2eyejoe2 John Cougar Mellencamp raped the asshole of of this song and shit on it's face. I do agree with you that John Cougar did not do as good as Van Morrison.
@Laxaplaya Theres haters everywhere man . They sole purpose in life is go from thing to thing and place to place saying everything sucks, Im a fan of punk ska hardcore and in general music that doesnt blow and this qualifies as the last one . 4 more months of probation and I can enjoy music as it is sposed to be enjoyed.
" When i was 5 years old, my mother told me happiness was the key to life. when i went to school they asked me what i wanted to be when i grew up. i wrote down "happy ". they told me i didn' t understand the assignment. i told them they didn' t understand life " - *John Lennon*
Congress needs to pass a law that makes it illegal for anybody to produce and record a song with more than four instruments (unless their name is Van Morrison).
Music was great back then. There's still plenty of good music today. I think music in general is so accessible, that you just need to spend more time, and sift through more garbage, but there's plenty of good still out there.
Music doesn't have this kind of heart today. Todays musicians just need to go back to some of the old throw back sounds or something man. John Mayer, Justin Beiber, all of them wish they could make a song this good. I don't even like to listen to the radio anymore I'm just putting a playlist together on my computer and listening to real music. Thanks for putting this one out there for us.
@gmaynor2 thats actually not true, we have many talented artists today. Dont be fooled by the filth on the radio, in 20 years nobody will remember "I whip my hair" or "Tik Tok" but they'll remember artists/bands like Eminem, Alicia Keys, Alice in Chains, Opeth, Nas, Jr. Gong and all the other exceptional artists out there today. Wether you prefer classic rock or not is subjective but good music transcends taste, you don't have to like it to admit that its quality.
@gmaynor2 there are a few modern bands that have a throwback sound. If you like The Beach Boys check out The Explorers Club ("do you love me" is the first song that turned me onto them). There is also this band called Quiet Company, check out their song "How Do You Do It". Both bands totally have a 60s-70s vibe. Beady Eye is pretty awesome, check out "Bring The Light" and "The Roller". I hope you like some of these songs cause I agree with you, today's music lacks soul, but these bands rock.
@LennonACW check out the Gaslight Anthem(a modern springsteen) Black Rebel Motorcycle club(a modern mountian, Steppenwolf and garage rock sound), Fu Manchu(just like Led Zeppelin, mountian and Ted), Psycho Devilles(kind of like Gene Vincet and Eddie Cochran) and the Chop Tops(Carl Perkins, Johnny Burrentte).
Yeah, that's true, but there are still some Classic rock stations on the radio. Say you live in the Acadiana region, 98.1 Eagle is a Classic rock station. I'm an 11 year old, and Classic rock is my FAVE music EVER! So I know when music is good or if it isn't.
