  • Born George Ivan Morrison. Became a Christian, sometime in the '80s. God bless ya, brother Van!

  • For some reason, I thought this song was saying "Friday night is calling" -____-

  • Kept hearing this song at work and finally found out who it was. Originally thought it was Jagger/Stones. Thank god for Shazam.

  • My favorite song ever!!!!

  • 7 dislikes. Band together to eradicate stupidity.

  • This kicks ass!! Sadly Van & I are old people and what I've heard that the young ones call music is pitiful. I will go into obscurity but Van will live a long time after he & I both are gone.

  • HE IS AAAAAAMAZING love this one AND many others from Van killer post thanks!!

  • this is one of the greatest rock and roll songs ever put to wax.

  • These guys ripped off John Mellencamp.

  • @antdigger

    hahahahaha

John Mellencamp ripped off Ryan Adams

  • @antdigger

I don't think so, little Johnny Mellencamp was 14 years old when Van Morrison done this song.

Mellencamp does good stuff but he wasn't ripped off.

  • it just makes alot of sense musically doesn't it?

  • Timeless Van Morrison classic enhanced by the talented and gifted Ronnie Montrose on guitar.

  • 5 people don't brush their shoes!

  • Just such a great song

  • I believe this is the first VM song I heard on the radio. Didn't know who he was at the time, but I know I liked the music!

  • It's all about the soul....

  • When he says "Oooh," it sounds similar to Bon Jovi's Runaway.

  • @bigSpidermanfan Bon Jovi's "Oooh" in Runaway sounds like his. Cheers :-)

  • Que som animal!!!

  • "Van, is a Living Testament of a Musical Legend" . you'll Hear that Motown Rythym feel there. [Why are singers & Bands ? so up the shit these days , Go back home and stay in the closet.] at least Until, 2012 when we visit the astral plane for a week...

  • @DYNODRUM Visit the astral plane for a week? Can you give me more details? And are you sure? Tell me where you got the information. Please

  • Come out and dance!

  • Correction: VM was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1911!

  • smoking a bowl to this then goin to bed. great song!

  • You can definitely hear where Springsteen got most of his early material in this song. Van had an amazing sense of lyricism and could always put together a killer band.

  • Van Morrison was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993

  • * * * * *

  • People think too much in terms of past/present when it comes to art. A song that was released in 1971 is every bit as new as a song released in 2011; once it's made and put out, it enters a timeless realm - in which it isn't it's release date that makes it good, bad or indifferent, but simply it's quality as a piece of art.

  • @MadsAndersen1 u r right, timeless classicals stay in power forever.check this guy mozart,he is been on the top 40 for 200 years so far,and he will stay for another 1000 years.

  • Just love the music!

  • John "cougar" Mellencamp ruined this song.

  • @Atombombmother No he didnt, he wasnt as good as Van, no-one is, but John did an excellent job on this song.

  • @2eyejoe2 John Cougar Mellencamp raped the asshole of of this song and shit on it's face. I do agree with you that John Cougar did not do as good as Van Morrison.

  • Great song by a truly great artist! Thank you for uploading!

  • There are lifeforms on this planet who would actually choose to dislike this?

  • @Laxaplaya They are called...uh...actually I don't even think terrorists would hate this

  • @Laxaplaya only 3

  • @Laxaplaya Theres haters everywhere man . They sole purpose in life is go from thing to thing and place to place saying everything sucks, Im a fan of punk ska hardcore and in general music that doesnt blow and this qualifies as the last one . 4 more months of probation and I can enjoy music as it is sposed to be enjoyed.

  • @Laxaplaya Don't worry, someday Darwin will come back and save us from those life forms.

  • @m0nkEz

And not a moment too soon!

  • @Laxaplaya

Just recessive genes. Nothing to see here...LOL

  • This sounds EXCELLENT !! Van is the MAN !!

  • epic

  • Wicked! I thought John Mellencamp wrote this song :(

    I stand SO corrected!

  • Thank You!!!!!!!!!! Excellent.

  • I wish he had provided a live performance of this tune to YouTube; It would have rocked!

  • And all the girls walk by dressed up for each other

And the boys do the boogie-woogie on the corner of the street

And the people, passin' by stare in wild wonder

And the inside juke-box roars out just like thunder

    Wow that i like

  • @jimmygeilman I agree...Inside juke-box roars out just like thunder.. Fabulous line.

  • random enter and inspiration gained ;D

  • Van the Man is simply the best of the best.

  • Philatron, I play this on Bass, I'm only 11

  • I used to hear my dad singing this song when I was a kid. Memories !!!

  • @blankrasta same with me! this song is synonymous with trips to the jersey shore for me!

  • Congress needs to pass a law that makes it illegal for anybody to produce and record a song with more than four instruments (unless their name is Van Morrison).

  • @RAIDERWIZARD88 wild night is calling*

  • Always loved the bass line in this song.

  • this song ALWAYS makes me feel GREAT!

  • Music was great back then. There's still plenty of good music today. I think music in general is so accessible, that you just need to spend more time, and sift through more garbage, but there's plenty of good still out there.

  • Love that pic with Bob and Robbie.

  • LOVE LOVE this song!!!!!!!

  • One of the great intros. Also, I rarely dance 'cause I look like I'm having a seizure on the dance floor. THIS song, I'll always dance to.

  • i like the other version but still a great song

  • @gmaynor2 thats actually not true, we have many talented artists today. Dont be fooled by the filth on the radio, in 20 years nobody will remember "I whip my hair" or "Tik Tok" but they'll remember artists/bands like Eminem, Alicia Keys, Alice in Chains, Opeth, Nas, Jr. Gong and all the other exceptional artists out there today. Wether you prefer classic rock or not is subjective but good music transcends taste, you don't have to like it to admit that its quality.

  • @gmaynor2 there are a few modern bands that have a throwback sound. If you like The Beach Boys check out The Explorers Club ("do you love me" is the first song that turned me onto them). There is also this band called Quiet Company, check out their song "How Do You Do It". Both bands totally have a 60s-70s vibe. Beady Eye is pretty awesome, check out "Bring The Light" and "The Roller". I hope you like some of these songs cause I agree with you, today's music lacks soul, but these bands rock.

  • @LennonACW check out the Gaslight Anthem(a modern springsteen) Black Rebel Motorcycle club(a modern mountian, Steppenwolf and garage rock sound), Fu Manchu(just like Led Zeppelin, mountian and Ted), Psycho Devilles(kind of like Gene Vincet and Eddie Cochran) and the Chop Tops(Carl Perkins, Johnny Burrentte).

  • @gmaynor2 Heeey dont diss John Mayer he's too hot for that. Feel free to hate on JB all you want however :D

  • @gmaynor2 Mayer actually is quite good, same with Dave Matthews

  • @gmaynor2 Fleet Foxes. Arcade Fire. Land of Talk. Camera Obscura. Wilco.

  • @gmaynor2 u know it

  • @gmaynor2

Yeah, that's true, but there are still some Classic rock stations on the radio. Say you live in the Acadiana region, 98.1 Eagle is a Classic rock station. I'm an 11 year old, and Classic rock is my FAVE music EVER! So I know when music is good or if it isn't.

    -_-|||

lol XDDD Yes this stuff is great, I'm playin the Bass line for this song

  • @gmaynor2 have you ever heard john mayer? lol

    /watch?v=dVN_AlxdPOA

    i don't think so..

  • My favorite song by VM

  • @SxTMinMan Mine too

  • THIS IS THE BETTER SOUNDING VERSION. QUALITY OF SOUND IS A-1.

  • Cool! Thnx!
