  • i think if you're mediocre in life, you're mediocre in life. whether you're in the military or you're a civilian. And I was a bit unrealistic when I said "easily", but i think it would have been possible if I always stayed on top of all of my work, which is not always easily done. I'm an aerospace engineering major.

  • @rotateman Bon voyage.

  • @rotateman Did you get an A in bowling?

  • @NotEasilyRegimented a+, bowled a perfect game

  • @rotateman You are slightly less than mediocre in life.

  • Letters of recommendation help

  • God Bless America, Though I am not American born, I love America. America is the last freedom standing on the globe against all the dictatorship, socialism, which is the transition to communism. America, wake up& be strong, don't ever lose your constitution that was endowed from god. Even all those terrorist countries have one -year -long greencard waiting list come to America, so those who passionately hate America, go to live somewhere in communist country. then u will appreciate & learn

  • @NotEasilyRegimented It doesn't matter where you come from. If you're a workhorse, you'll be rewarded greatly by the military. If not, you'll blend in with the rest and get out after your 5-10 years in and continue the life of mediocrity.

  • @rotateman I disagree that if one is mediocre in civilian life, one would necessarily be mediocre in military life, or vice-versa.

  • Would they accept some one with a 3.8 gpa and three years of French? Because I wanted to go to a military accademy such as this one and do ROTC then hopefully become an officer after I graduate.

  • @legendxesiv do u want to go into the Navy or Army or Airforce or the Marines

  • @legendxesiv did you seriously just say you want to do rotc at an academy then hopefully become an officer when you graduate?

  • @xXThermobaricXx I enlisted in the navy out of hs and did well there. After two years I applied and got in

  • @rotateman congrates lol thats the frekain minimum requirment grade wise lol,,,, well you know that already so whatever lol,,,, what were SAT scores?,,, im a soph. with a 3.83 and a shit load of other stuff under my belt and im REALLY wanting to get in

  • @djc4n I got around a 1350 on my SATs, good math scores with average verbal. Judging from your grammar, I'd say that you might want to work on your verbal a little bit too... Anyways, like I said earlier I had the smarts to get in, but didn't develop the work ethic until after graduating high school. If you don't have the smarts, than you just have to bust your ass. I'm not trying to sound arrogant I'm just trying to be honest.

  • @rotateman its youtube, i dont use grammar lol, bsically everything besides youtube i use grammar on, usually when putting a comment on somthing people are hostile towards just about everything anyone can say, and i dont feel like wasting my time making sure i type right...,,, but anyways..... congrats, and goodluck with life lol.

  • @djc4n Thanks

  • they don't seem to get the pace huh?

  • i wanna attend the naval academy, but my instinct says with my 3.5 gpa, the answer to acception, my letter will say definite hell no. i cant get in college worth crap.

  • @300MUSIC I had a 2.0 in HS and graduated bottom 1% of my class. I'll be graduating USNA class of '12. Nothing's set in stone.

  • @rotateman how the fuck did u get in with a 2.0

  • @xXThermobaricXx HOW ABOUT that is just bullshit> I was getting a speeding ticket one night in Virginia and the police officer noticed USNA sticker on the car. Said he had a son in high school, asked how long it took to get into the Academy. I answered him true. It took my son his entire life preparing for the academy.

  • @NotEasilyRegimented nice ..im a former marine and i never knew about this academy until i met a officer from there .. now ive been out of the marines since 2003 and my 10 year old son has been wanting to be a pilot since he was 6 these last 2 years Ive been introducing him to the naval academy , he wants to go there now. his grades are all A's ,he's respectful, very mature for his age , just won class Representative, i coach his pop warner football team hes a natural leader on &off the field.

  • @FRANCOLOPEZ0311 Thanks for your service. My son wanted to be an aviator too. He was just edged out by 2 mids. His grades could have been a little better I guess. He graduated with a 2,8 I think. He was angry because both of the mids who got picked ahead of him had corrected vision. Glasses. First time ever in the Navy for corrected vision to be allowed. Both of them were admirals sons. There IS that. Secret way in to fly F-14s at the time was to go Marine and from there qualify. for pilot.

  • @NotEasilyRegimented i hope hes on the right track .. we talk about the academy at least twice a week , any pointers ?

  • @FRANCOLOPEZ0311 Everything you need to know is readily available from the Academy. My son is now out of the Navy, as are most of his classmates. A few aviators still in I think. The mission changed for our young professional career military officers during the early 90s. We used to be a force to defend our shore against a common enemy. No more. Now these young people are not readily willing to give up their lives for democratization, humanitarian aid, and peace keeping.

  • @NotEasilyRegimented i agree. and thank you for responding

  • @DionNielsen2000 Well considering the fact that I'm half way through my 2/C year, I think its safe to say that it is possible. I proved my capabilities as a student during my enlisted schooling in the Navy. My performance in high school was due to lack of motivation, not lack of ability, and they recognized this.

  • @rotateman OK so your dad is an admiral and your SAT was at least 1200 , riight?

  • @rotateman You're a firstie then? Something about your post raised red flags for me. You didn't stress any of your good points.

  • @NotEasilyRegimented I'm a firstie, my dad is a former Army draftee for the vietnam war, not an admiral, and yes I got at least a 1200 on my SATs. In my four years here I've learned one thing is important, work ethic is everything. I was capable of graduating this place with a 4.0, but I wasn't willing to put in the effort. Honestly, I think most people are capable of getting a 4.0 but most people don't want to put in that much work.

  • @rotateman A 4.0 at the Academy? How many people have ever achieved that. What was your major/minor?

  • @300MUSIC I joined the Navy when I was 17. While I was in Sonar school I was offered a chance to take a Naval Academy entrance exam. I did well except for trigonometry, which I never studied in high school. I quit high school and took the GED test for acceptance into the Navy. I had a high IQ. If you have a high IQ, a strong desire to be a Naval officer, based on knowledge about what that would entail, no criminal record, then you have a chance. I was offered NAPS Naval Academy Prep School.

  • @supraman181 You know that the U.S. Naval Academy is also for the Marines.... If you dont respect the military for what they do... Then you sir are not American!!

  • i just love the navy. im going into my sophmore year.

  • the shuttle run is where a thirty foot distance is measured out and you start behind a line then sprint thrity feet and touch a hand and foot behind the other line then run back doing the same thing and then sprint the final leg. 90 feet total in 7.8 seconds... i might have the most trouble with that. when are you applying?

  • Christiancoker, everything except 110 situps, it's 72 in two minutes. and 75 pushups in 2 minutes. there's also a 7.8 second shuttle run and a 102 foot b-ball throw

  • to Christiancoker: I don't think the requirements for PE are as tough as that to get in...though tough. My son is a 2006 grad and now flies the Sea Hawk helicopter. The four years he spent at the Academy were the toughest and most rewarding years of his life. Good luck to you and to all that aspire to the service academies.

  • On Easter there was no activity like this ; we did see students in uniform walking around with relatives

  • @VAR1UM someone failed the asvab

  • Im a freshmen in highschool and i have a 4.0 varsity swim, NJROTC, etc. and I also already contacted my blue and gold officer for naval academy requirements. So how good is my chance of gettin in if i keep this up?

  • I'm thinking you might not have that great of a chance if you think you need to ask that question of a youtube community.

  • Comment removed

  • i'm just asking for opinions, if you don't think i will get in, it's your opinion. I will try my best anyway to get in, because it will help me to have a successful life in the future.

  • if people are wondering why i removed the comment 2 boxes from this, it is because I had typos in it.

  • Typos are a fact of yootoob. FCAT FO YUTUBEY!

  • @hellwarrior789 good luck my son is 10 and im preparing him already ,

  • dont be a nasty when you get there. be the best because there will be shitbags around you.

  • im hoping to get into this school next year +)

  • goodluck.

my uncle graduated from there in the early 80's.

  • i go to jesuit high school of tampa and i hope i get to go there when i graduate it's a grat school and i get to be a naval offier while im there

  • i go to jesuit high school of dallas

  • you guys just kicked in swimming at state. matt thompson is a badass

  • man im 23, if i had the same mindset as i do now when i was 15..cotdamn i would of tried my hardest to go to annapolis, just like my friend dave did. dammit

  • Goddamnit, I wish I could do it over again I'd go for that carreer path

  • i went there for a field trip

  • Im going to that college you know. I want to be a naval officer.

  • Maybe it helps to be from the same home town as your Senator. I was nominated to USAF Academy, but later disqualified at DOD review for medical reasons. Ended up enlisting in Rickover's Navy. Spent 6 years in nuc program as a reactor operator on fast attack sub. Where there's a will , there's a way. Just wanted to serve my country.

  • ok does anyone know about this thing through JAG where you can become a lieutenant after law school and they pay for it? jw?

  • ( well i's male use many usernames to preserve True Meaning of Freedom of Speech )

  • GO NAVY!!!!!!!!! FOREVER!!!!!!!

  • Brown was mess up w/"financial aid" garp , though can go back to Brown , why cannot go back others , guess cause already attended , family poverty problems indefinite leave of absence as Dean stated , "financial aid" is such a louse here , more to make profit with defaults

  • ( i's male , many usersnames to protect freedom of speech ) , got rejected from Air Force Academy , even though Congressional Appointment ( said 2 line letter lacked 20/20 vision ) but had full Scholarship to MIT NRO

TC ) instead went to Brown ( no ROTC program ) , Commander in Hi. Sch. NJROTC said should apply to only one Academy , Liason To Naval Academy said no should have applied to more than one , Brown was mess up w/"financial aid" garp ,

  • just wondering, if 5 generations of my family went here and became admirals, all the way up until my grandfather, do they still count as legacies?? My parents and grandparents didn't go there, so i'm wondering..

  • I am 12 and want to go there to be a USMC aviator

  • im 10 and i want to go there i don;t know wat i should be in the navy im focusing on jet pilot right now

  • Hey I need advice on how to get in. I am a Freshmen in HS. What do I need to do to prepare physically, academically, and emotionally? All help greatly appreciated. And how do I get accepted?

  • keep your grades up and participate in sports. DO NOT SLACK OFF. i didn't decide i wanted to go until the end of my junior year, now i'm into my senior year and i'm just waiting to hear from the academy. but you can get that if i don't get in it'll be because i slacked off so much. consider yourself lucky for working out what you what so early in high school.

  • Thanks you for the advice. I am still waiting to hear from them too. ANd I am in ROTC (ARMY though) but that is still a plus. I wil go ahead and follow your advice. I hope you get accepted! Then you'll be a 1st Classmen when I'm a plebe!

  • ahahah i love you tourists!!

    it's def called a firstie.

  • yo... OORAH!!!!!!! USNA kicks ass. GO Navy!!!

  • lol, I'm sorry... cadets tend to take things rather seriously...

  • as they damn well should. One of them could end up as my Division Officer.

  • nice... well maybe I will...

but as an officer... I want be involved a lot in training Marines...

    maybe work on MCMAP upgrades

  • how are you planning on training us as an officer? Officers sign papers, sgt,s and higher enlisted train us. and as far as mcmap upgrades go, thats way outta an officers hands, civilians deal with that.

  • nah man i have extensive exp in hand-to-hand combat training thus far so i hope to work with the Corps on constantly revising the system. It's good to stay up to date. and i know what u mean... idk really. my cousin was enlisted, but he was accepted into OCS. And right now i'm just a lame Cadet Sgt. so i'll find out more as i progress.

Hey man: if u are a Marine, u rock! and thank you for serving your country.

  • The best info I have is to become friends with a Senator. The numbers show that if you are able to get that congressional nomination then the chances of getting an interview with the Academy jump like 80%. Or if you can get in touch with an officer of a rank like Cpt or higher then they probably know someone at the Academy that can get you that interview. Just make sure to keep the grades up and start the admission process late jr. yr

  • Thank you so much... but by the time I need an appointment I'll have a new batch of senators...lol. But how do I become friends with a senator? Lie a lot? lol

  • Show up at his house in a toga and perform fellatio on him.

  • lol, shut up... funny ....

  • Don't bother...go Navy NROTC and have a NORMAL college existence, and get a commission in the Navy or Marine Corps to boot.

  • Horrible advice. While at the end of the day, your commissioning source doesn't really matter much, there are very real benfits to being a "ring knocker."

  • Yeah, horrible advice from someone who is an 0-6 in the US Navy...typical advice...it's all about the connections for USNA grads, and nothing else.

  • Respectfully, ma'am, I must disagree. The connections we build while here are definitely one of the benefits, but there's more to it than just that. "United States Naval Academy" looks very good on a resume for when one transitions back into the civilian world.

  • And if you're in business you'll know all about the importance of connections. If you knew you couldn't hack it going to the Naval Academy or simply couldn't get in, just admit it. There's nothing wrong commissioning through an ordinary school.

  • umm. question. what are the rules on myspace/facebook/youtube? i though they were banned.

  • What is the name of the song used between "The Thunderer" and "Anchors Aweigh?" Is it called "Purple Pageant?"

  • how did the whole admissions process go with the ones who got in USNA?

  • good luck guys! i will get in the accademia militare di modena to become an infantry officer of the italian army!!

  • What's up guys & gals...I got in November, It's cool because I live like 10 min away from the academy. My dad and uncle also graduated from their and both went in to the Marines.

  • I start June 27th, 2007

  • You're luck. I have to report the 25th.

  • The 25th? Are we still talking about the USNA (starting this summer)? I-Day starts the 27th.

  • Not to be nosy but how good were you guys grades and test scores?

  • wow...their band sucks so bad, i wish they would take me in just so i could help out with my trumpet

  • Don't try, DO! They only take a certain number of applications every year and after age 21, I believe that's it.

  • But, I dont know if I would go even if accepted after a year or 2 in college, just to start over again.

  • Well, talk to the recruiter (or whom ever) I believe they should be able to place you in apropriate classes.

  • they will accept u man. if its wat u want they will.

  • I'm going to try and get in.

  • CHRnavy: You'd had better learn to spell the word "good" if you want to get in.

  • im going to apply in two years and ive been talking to some admissions guys and they said i have a god chance!!!

  • I cant wait until I get to apply!!!

  • nobody have msn??

  • hey i have sum friends that go there and i think im gunna try to get in too...he said i could have a chance haha

  • hi,do you have msn?

  • wow....do you have msn? so we can talk,if you want!!!

  • is there someone who join in the naval academy?

  • i am going to try to get in;

  • wow..do you have msn?so we can talk,if you want..

  • yeah im an official candidate

  • sigh... super homesick...
