  • after i watched this video, my insight is very open because the video is very good to give information Have you always wondered what is on the inside of your computer? This video takes a look at the inside of a computer and examines the seven major parts.

  • Looking at the backside of a motherboard you see a lot of different path ways and circuits... After seeing Tron Legacy I will never look at a motherboard the same way again, even as a computer builder..

  • I like how there are secret little picture icons but you have to look close enough to recognize it.

  • Dude, you cant destroy a hard drive, its stilll possible to get files off it even if it has been thrown into a fire.

  • @CallOfDuty4Fish wrong, you can destroy a hard drive, after you smash it with a hammer or any thing heavy to use to smash it, then bowl it in VERY HIGH WATER TEMP then by a magnet wand or ANY high powered magnet and move it over the hard drive DISK and it WILL damage it and will NOT recoverable.

  • @zombieman2212 if you dont have a good use of the harddrive, you gotta beat the living shit out of it.

  • Thanks.... it really helps me a lot....

  • if anyone is studying the comptia a+ training courses, you would know who professor messer is. hes better then this idiot.

  • professor james messer does a better job then you.

  • like if u think this is gay and u had to look it up for school

  • Any computer expert care to enlighten me? A hardware is not a chip. A Device is a Device like the speakers or cell phone. A Program or Programming should be called a File Ware. Software is obsolete. The Graphics is a File.

  • @heartlessvietboy 1) hardware is a physical component of the computer. its not entirely a chip. 2)a device is an electronic object, like what you mentioned. 3) a program is an application, while programming is developing an application, and there is no such thing as "file ware" 4) software is exactly the samething as a program, and obsolete is outdated stuff (not just software) 5) Graphics can be a file (like animation), but its used to translate binary code into a graphical user interface. done

  • This can be broken down. A hardware is not a physical component of a computer. A computer shell is not a hardware. A hardware is a computer chip no smaller than 5mm. A device is something physical that is no larger than the average computer or smaller than jolly rancher. A device must include an outer shell other wise its a hardware. A program is an application while programming is developing an application. The computer is balogny. It's what we call a Graphics card.

  • @heartlessvietboy i was just trying to help, your text doesnt have to sound that mean. :-/

  • now lets compare to...

    (snare drumroll)

    A.W. COMPUTER!

    let's see...

dual+ core processor, something like 4 RAM, it's awesome. it's bigger and heavier than a normal one, needs a bit more ventilation, and it's designed SPECIFICALLY for gaming

  • inside a computer is like the tron world

  • How often should I wash my CD's and DVD's in the washing machine?

  • NZXT Lexa Case

    6GB Triple DDR3 1333 Memory Kingston...

    IntelCore i5 2400 LGA1155 CPU 3.1GHz 6MB

    Asus P8 H61-LE V3 H61 L6A1155

    Samsung 22x SATA DVD Writer

    Samsung SATA 1TB HD

    This all compatible? :S

  • @DaytonaEggnog

Yep, looks like everything should work. Just make sure you install the 64 bit version of windows or you'll only get use out of half of your RAM.

You might consider looking at the i5 2500k if you're not going to be installing a graphics card, the 2500k has better integrated graphics than the 2400.

  • @DaytonaEggnog

    Pff...

  • My dad has that case

  • I havent got a computer so how can I watch this.

  • @jazzer1960 on ur iphone

  • @DaytonaEggnog what if he doesnt hav an iphone?

  • Insted of destroying your hard drive why dont you just keep it a use it in your new computer?

  • can someone answer how i have no video card but can run my computer i have a mdg windows xp home computer all i have is 3 white slots where the video card is supposed to be

  • @capt5656 Many motherboards now have integrated video cards (meaning that the video card is built into the motherboard) and thus do not need another video card to display.

  • @capt5656 im not tech savvy at all but my guess is you dont really need one unless your gaming

  • @oOBulletsponge so then what makes the image on your computer eh?

  • @capt5656 i just figured magic, but then again i could be wrong.

  • NERDS = FAIL

    HA HA HA

    NERDS!!!!!!!!!!

  • @zombieman2212 even if you format, scientists can still retrieve data from a hdd. they look at how strong or week a 0 is and then estimate as to whether it was a 0 or a 1 before format. That is why governments use multiple 0 and 1 writes over the sensitive data to completely erase any difference between the all the 0 after the removal of the file.

  • @ITGuru0111 idk how but i know someone who can still get those "deleted" files from a hard disk

what i think is that hard disk will always remain some traces of a file and because of that there will always be a way to get the files back

  • power supply should be no 1 or number 2

  • Great basic intro to interior components of a system unit. Perfect to show my students in my Intro to Computers class. Short, sweet, but very clear video and audio file. Thanks.

  • *Blonde*: The only fun part about the whole video was the smashing hard thingy at 2:51

  • 1:53 Who in the world REALLY plays video games anymore? I mean, it's really following a script REAL people wrote (the video game). It may have been good when you were a kid, but now? I don't know. Creating you own original work is much more challenging!

  • @jiveturkey25 about 200,000,000. In the us, at least. Maybe you should catch up on common culture

  • @jiveturkey25 What are you? A fucking moron? Shit loads of people play video games, dipshit.

  • @AtomicHercules My apologies.

  • @jiveturkey25 no problem, dude. just stick a live wire to your dickbag and listen to the corn pop and we're all good. As an added bonus, film it and that can be your original work. As long as I get a credit for the idea.

  • @AtomicHercules I'm worried about you. Perhaps "You" should take a break from World of Warcraft and Hot Pockets for awhile.

  • @ShittyMcshitstain The only hot pocket i've had lately was your mom's turd hole. It was ok, I guess.

I filled it with pepperoni and cheese if you know what i'm sayin

  • if u destroy the drive than you can't donate the computer any more

  • @AlseasonAnita013 buy a new hard drive, as long its the same model as the one you destroyed.

  • no your a floating head in a white room

  • dude dont destroy the hard drive use it as a backup drive to store backups or even as a spare drive never know when youll need it

  • dude is that a biostar board and what case is that ???i have yet to see a case with that big of a window

anybody knows of a case with a huge window like that let me know kk

  • How can you undelete files from hard drive? What's the software needed ? Thanks for the video.

  • @diegoramos27 its possible to recover deleted data from the binary code on the boot sectors.

  • @ITGuru0111

Not really, it can still be recovered.

  • a optical drive i not important and what about the bios

  • You can erase data from a hard drive with my universal AXE tool...you can also remove your CPU fan if you dont want it...

I went to insall ram, and I tried sticking it into "any open slot" and now my computer dose nothing but sizzle...not sure why that happened.

  • You can erase the data from the hard disk before recycling so you don't need to break it down. Disks are delicate and a lot of their parts can easily be reused...

The "mystery" behind this "undeleting the data is that when you erase the data in windows, windows erases the addresses to the actual data on the disk while data remains. If you screw windows and full format the hard drive, all addresses, data and alocation table will be empty.. Full format is also healthy for your hard drive...

  • iam 8 years old i already know this all now iam 11

  • @aw34a4 Make your mind up are you 8 or 11

  • @teslaglobal i am 12 years old now.....

  • or you can just open your case, and look after yourself .

  • you dont have to destroy the HDD to destroy ur data~ you can just unscrew the round disc inside the HDD and rub it vigorously on the road~ best if the road has stones on them~ :)

  • see those dinasour crossfires lol wow mang, those wouldn't even be able to play Combat Evolved lols how fast technology changes amazes me...

  • 2:49 lmao xD

  • what is he sayin @ 1:17? .. every ... machine :S:S:S plz tell me if some knows

  • @oldwarcraftgamer He says - "Adding RAM to the machine"

  • @oldwarcraftgamer

he said "adding ram to a machine" not "every..... machine"~

  • obvious fag is obvious

  • i kno already about the 7 main componenets i want to knwo what they're made of and how the're put together and everything where would i be able to find this knd of information?

  • no man! LOLOLOLOLOL only if you load things over it but still data remains!

    magnets destroy

if i use a partition manager, i could find all your old hidden deleted photos txt files some internet data and possible even saved game files, music and movies ect...

  • hehehhehehehehehe

    Really :O

    i must be retarted HEHEHEH

3-6 months upgrade video cards AHAHAHAH YEA RIGHT!

im a crazy gamer and i havent upgraded my card in like 8 months but before that over 2 years ago

yea and i tried hacking someones drive magnets work 2, cant crack this one...

imma try again in 2 days i wanna see whats on it

i omost feel stupider after watching this shit XD

  • thought it is the core processing unit?

  • If you're getting a new computer, why not install the old hard drive on it? It's kinda stupid to smash your harddrive with a hammer when you sell your computer.. : /

  • Indeed. Most computer cases these days allow for 2 hard drives to be hooked up in them.

  • you can use low level format and no one can recover anything from your hard drive! / some motherboards have 6 slots of ram!

  • AMD X2 Brisbane 5600+ 4GB ddr2 667, 320mb 7200RPM sata drive, 2 WD external 500gig drives, Radeon 4650, Thermaltake Supranors case, thermaltake 430watt psu. I don't need anything better so I don't waste my money.

  • @vexun11 Is that model turbo charged?

  • the mainboard is like mine.

  • Incredibly elementary.

  • That's because this video is obviously for the non-tech savvy person. Why do tech people get so upset over videos like these? Not everyone is a genious at computers. Videos like these are meant for people who only know that pushing the power button turns the computer on. No need to tech babble that they don't understand. Sometimes, the basics is all that people need. It's up to the consumer and the sales person to decide how far in depth they need to go when discussing a computer.

  • STFU You are no longer allowed to write your opinions, because they suck just like you as a person. You're a real GENIUS!!! Try proof reading sometime, dumb shit.

  • ...wow. Really dude? You're telling me that because some of us have the decency to not over-complicate things for people who have no idea what they're doing, that are dumb shits? As I said before, not everyone in the world is tech savvy. There's no need to go into those kinds of details when all they simply want to know is what the name of the hardware is and what it's basic functionality is.

So, why over complicate stuff for people who only want simplicity?

  • @Lostagain70 WELL! No more computer time for you Young man!

  • @matrix86 agreed, BUT then the basic info needs to be correct. Too many misconceptions have been born by oversimplifying complex subject matter. In this video for example: more ram makes your computer faster.

This does not always hold true. The computer just needs enough of it. Extra doesn't make it faster. Less than required, does however slow it down.

Faster ram will make the computer faster, but there is a limit to what the mobo and/or cpu will support.

  • @Ice724637 true most systems will work the same with 2gb as 4 gb but only if you use mail internet msn listen music watching movies but if you play games you will see a difference and also if you edit pictures or video's or do heavy multi tasking

  • @basbas63 agreed, that's why i said:

"This does not always hold true. The computer just needs enough of it. Extra doesn't make it faster. Less than required, does however slow it down."

If a game for example would need 3GB to fit completely in the ram, the game would run slower on 2GB than on 4GB, but it would not run faster on 8GB than on 4GB. (this example is simplified and exludes, among other things, ram used by the system and other apps)

  • @matrix86 i'm actually quite shocked to hear this statement about the ram speeding up a computer in an informative video.

I had a similar case with a guy who has just started studying IT with me saying that he has a ***mb graphics card and that that is fast enough for him.

Needless to say i set him straight.

No wonder people have no clue, when this kind of stuff is on the net.

Please, guys from HowStuffWorks, at least put in the effort to make sure your not contributing to misinformation.

  • @matrix86 i am very tech savvy and still find these videos informative very cool man

  • Random access memory?

  • ram

  • To truly delete data on a drive, just use a bios program like wipedrive or dataerasor to erase the drive. These programs litterally reset the binary code throughout the entire drive so any data is wiped clean and cannot be recovered. Theres no need to physically destroy the disk genious! BTW, you forgot to mention about the North and South Bridges, the ALU and the Cache among other things. Get it right

  • noob

  • You aren't paying attention to what this videos is about. It's about what hardware components are in a computer and a very basic example of what they do. This is meant for people who have no idea what's in a computer. For people who only know how to push the power button and that's it. There's no need to explain bridges and cache and differences between PCI, PCI-e, APG, and so on and so forth. This is just a basic "this is what's in your computer case" video.

  • just opening a hard drive will break it. to undelete files you have to open up the dive in a clean room and do some stuff to it.

  • Well I know how to build computers, but didn't know about the microscopic characters. That's pretty cool, I think I'll look for some later.

  • @ZuuLSpAcEmAn i know someone who works 30 years with pc's now and he told me it is true well it is there since about the p3 time !

  • @ZuuLSpAcEmAn

    I knew that :P

  • I build my own computer for $590 and mine's better.

  • What are the parts?

  • You just got a quad with 4 threads. Your "e-cock" might be long to you but very short to me. You also only have 4gb ram... Thats y u get thumbs down!

  • Yeah, I know, and actually, my rig is now a Core i5 750 and 8GB DDR3 2000 w/ 7 1TB F3 drives and an ATCS 840 case... But anyway, the reason I was thrashing and trashing is because the motherfucker is either a dumbass or a liar... Who puts 8GB of RAM on an X58?!

  • On a X58 u problaby would have eather 6 or 12Gb of ram.

  • Wow... look at all the geeks getting their e-cocks out and comparing sizes.

Those who are truly awesome do not feel the need to brag. Those who aren't generally don't call attention to it. Basically, stop bumming and get on with your lives.

  • i beat that EASILY i7 965 extreme oced to 4.25 ghz, 16gb dominator ddr3 16000, 4* intel ssd's,2 EVGA gtx 295 oced edition, eVGA 141-BL-E760-A1 Motherboard, full watercooling in a lian li case, monitor is my tv a 32 samsung best off all it was free, i won it in a local gaming competition on my cheap (700ish) gaming rig beat that. LOL

  • Lmao dude... first off, waste of electricity... second, 16GB is a lie... You can't get that RAM in greater than 2GB modules. FAIL!

Btw, my rig itself really did cost $650, and I'll have a video of that within the week cuz' it gives me success-peen. Monitor was an additional $140 unopened on Craigslist ($260 monitor).

  • Yea there is...4GB exists..go type in 4gb ddr2 dimm and you'll find it. Or just google single 4gb dimm. Oh btw some mobos now have 6 DIMMS.

  • I said THAT RAM. As in Corsair Dominator RAM... and the i7 only takes DDR3 dumbfuck. Who the hell doesn't know they make 4GB DDR2 modules anyway? That's old news.

  • Man you are a fucking idiot you can get up to 24Gb sticks of ram!!

  • @sdably FAIL

  • @aaronmonto Sorry but your E-cock is shameful and I laugh (HA HA HA) at it's smallness.

  • do computers have multiple hard drives like one for C drive one for D drive etc??? PLZ SOMEONE HELP!!

  • what motherboard did you use, i need advice im 13 im rebuiling my computer so ya....

  • Ok i have a MSI mobo whats your Yahoo mail pls PM it to me ok.

  • its like my comp case XD and his motherboard is like mine exept i have 4ram banks XD kewl

  • I have this case, it's a piece of shit. Buying a thermaltake this week.

  • 1:49-1:51 battlefield 2!

  • Your right!

  • I NEED THIS!

O_O all my brothers know everything about computers and they have challenged me who relies on them to build a gaming computer soooo i need this badly :P

  • anybody else see that HUGE ass wart on his right hand? lol well this vid helped lots thanks bro

  • Comment removed

  • I so cant find my video card o.O

  • you could have intergrated graphics, if you do, the southbridge i think it is, takes care of the graphics and etc

  • because your is integrated on to the motherboard not all computers come with graphics cards

  • some video cards are perminly stuck on the mother board.

  • hey, sweet vid, just wondering i have a ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 (2GB) graphics card, the most powerful one atm cause i like my gaming lol, is it possible when i upgrade in a couple of years or so to just attack say another graphics card on thats 1GB so that theyre running together? cheers

  • you cannot add a third one cause they have to go in pair. ATI pair connection is called a crossfire, there is a bridge connecting the cards then they're used in crossfire mode.

So what you should do is change both graphic cards you have with a new bridge.

Honestly i think you'll be fine for the next couple of years with what you have now.

  • These guys are mostly right.

If you format your harddrive it will erase ALL data

also install linux on old pc's and NEVER EVER throw away pc's

  • LOL! I had that case xD

  • If you know how to, And have the time, Build a PC, Don't buy them. Building PC's allow you to get the exact specifications you want and it works out alot cheaper aswell.

  • Agreed... but you should not be an idiot if you are supposed to build your own... Someone I know showed the CPU pins in the wrong way so they broke and got stuck in the motherboard oh there went 600$ But ofcourse his parents gave him new and better ones -.-

  • Man...

    The stupidity of some people.

  • mhm indeed

  • I agree

  • lol

  • Well, I liked it :)

  • WTF i gotta download crap video's like this for my assignment

  • if non of u care why are u watching

  • lolz...he said like...CPU and then he showed the fan..ok what the hell xD

  • The CPU is inside the fan. The fan cools it down to prevent overheating.

  • hahaha.... ''inside'' ?? its under the fan.... they could have shown the chip itself

  • ok the cpu is a very flat and small chip that sits in a "socket" on the motherboard. they create an intense ammount of heat so the heatsink (block with the metal grill and fan) is used to transfer the heat away from it.

no need to be mean not everybody knows how to build a pc

  • was i mean?

  • im still with dantefromhell

  • 2:52 funny :)
