  • I wonder if someone's Mastermind score is actually a reliable indicator of their ability to fulfil a ministerial role. Probably is to an extent, but I don't think general knowledge can always be equated with intelligence. You get people with a capacity to absorb, but not necessarily understand. Spongebob/the Eggheads.

  • Who arrived here after watching tonight's This Week programme? :)

  • Morale is dont vote labour , although i do applaud him for actually bothering to dress properly unlike the majority of the other people on this show who just turn up in an open shirt and jeans.

  • Which king succeeded Henry VIII? err Henry VII

    Oh come on

  • Wow! This guy a complete fucking dimwit. They even tried to give him questions on subjects he might be more likely to be knowledgeable on like Jamaica & Tottenham Hotspur, which he screwed up, plus loads of gimmes like the Sopranos, Bastille and Stilton questions, which he again fluffed. Talk about 'dumbed down Britain'.

  • @djsmurfie

I wrote that comment on Opposite Day. You wrote yours on Extra Letter T Day. t

  • Lammy was awarded an Inner London Education Authority choral scholarship to The King's School, Peterborough. He studied Law at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, obtaining a first class degree. Lammy went onto study a Master's degree at Harvard Law School and is a member of Lincoln's Inn having been Called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1994.

    Eh??

  • WHAT???? He's the minister of education? Jeeez!: (

  • Check out 'The Headhunter' at: headhunter60.blogspot.com/2011/04/headhunter

  • 6:59...Oh dear

  • Comment removed

  • @luvpump1 that was obviously a very unintelligent comment. My black mates would more than likely outsmart the majority of people they come across in life

  • Lammy is a careerist tool. And ironwand is a racist shit-stirrer. You two cunts deserve each other.

  • What a dunce, clearly not in Govt on merit then?

  • Really is embarasing. and this guy is an MP representing people, what a complete joke. He only got the job because he was black. ' Q) Who SUCCEEDED Henry 8th

    A) erm Henry 7th. Just about sums him up.

  • @tomoutlane

Actually, the question was 'who ACCEEDED Henry VIII?', which although it wasn't Henry VII, could have been.

  • @FrankGilfeather Ermmm, not it couldn't have been, unless the designations of monarchs recedes.

  • @djsmurfie Edward the VI, Not Henry.

  • FUCK OFF AND DIE LAMMY YOU ABSOLUTE CUNT!

  • Everyday racism. A Black man answers questions about a Black man for a Black charity. He then gets general knowledge questions on Jamiaca (he got it wrong) and a Tottenham footballer (he got it wrong).

    .

Minister with responsibility for Higher Education? Minister for Bananas would be more appropriate.

  • He's my local MP and you only have to see the people around here to know that he only gets voted in because he's black

  • Every scientist knows that Homo-Africanus has an average IQ of 70. A century of IQ tests don't lie. But tell that to a marxist 'we are all equal' libtard and he will go into convulsions. Any scientist that speaks the truth will lose his job and his reputation due to all the Orwellian 'thought crime' laws that now exist.

But with respect to this guy, common knowledge tests are not a measure of IQ. I'm sure his IQ is at the upper end of the homo-africanus bell curve (perhaps 95)

  • Just like Obama. The powewrful jews who control media and government-- aided by race-traitoring white liberals-- select a negro who will do what he is told, publicly fawn all over him, lavish him with undeserved accolades, and then propel him to artificial stardom. A grotesque sham that is devolving the western world into a third world.

  • It's no secret that blacks are less developed intellectually than all other races. They've barely evolved from their Homoerectus state.

  • He Cleary blowjobed hes way to the top thats how it work over here it has nothing to do with race though im sure some of the people of the hows of lord like having a little black boy as a bed warmer. wake up people we are ruled by the depraved and evil. also lawyers arnt intelegent and what the fuck would somebody with hes educational background know about art or health.

  • Lammy is only so wealthy because of the colour of his skin.

He is a product of positive discrimination and in any civilised country he'd be no where near government.

  • The comments on this video really make me despair in the human race.

  • I BEAT him!

  • This is what happens when you give power to the blacks. Look at Rhodesia, South Africa even John Barnes

  • Honestly, some of the people that comment under these videos are so unconsidered in what they say. I sit content with the fact that David Lammy is continuing his illustrious career and will never read what these stupid people have to say.

PS - sorry about the triple post

  • Furthermore, saying that choosing the life and career of Ali is 'stupid' is ignorant and ridiculous. How is learning about the life and works of Orson Welles (example) any less a memory test, than learning about the life and works of another hugely influential figure in history, who I hasten to add, was such a strong advocate of black rights and civil liberties?

  • I'm amazed there are so many bigoted and racist comments on this video. Of course he's a very intelligent person. It's extremely difficult to get to the front line of politics otherwise. And Mastermind is hardy a test of intellectual ability! It's a test for those who can cram well, and learn a vast number of irrelevant facts and dates.

  • @nin456 He didn't need to cram to answer these very simple questions. It was not just that he didn't know. The idiocy of his answers exposed his lack of intelligence, not just knowledge. He answers parliamentary questions in the same way. It is as though he has not heard the question. He waffles, and wants to give the impression of intellect. Please spare us the myth that he is intelligent. He is, quite obviously, dim and grossly overpromoted.

How does racism come into it ?

  • The really stupid thing is to imagine that these quizzes give any real indication of intellectual ability. David Lammy is a bright guy. I've met him and can vouch for that and his legal qualifications speak for themselves. Though I was surprised that he didn't get more of the general knowledge questions. Being under pressure is no excuse for anyone aspiring to be a frontline politician.

  • it's Mastermind, innit! say no more

  • Marie Antoinette discovered radioactivity :-) He's a member of the government FFS!

  • @peterf1966 In my opinion the worst one was he did not know where cockpit country was. For me that's easy, the fascinating history of the Jamaican Maroons was something I learnt at an early age. But that's my point, what is really obvious to some is harder for others. It depends on ones interests. Mastermind tests life experiences but not reasoning ability or problem solving.

  • Hmm. Some pretty idiotic people here.

BTW how does general knowledge test analytical skills or reasoning ability?

Does intelligence correlate to Mastermind scores?

How many questions would Einstein have got correct?

What is the correlation between shoe size and intelligence?

Can you determine how clever someone is by the colour of their hair or the colour of their skin?

Such hatred - Lammy must be extremely good to have overcome such deep and ignorant prejudice.

  • @mikewalker2233 .Are you defending his ignorance ? Have you ever heard his responses to Parliamentary questions ? He was under little pressure on 'Mastermind', but could not think or reason properly. Should he not be able to handle situations easily in such high office ? Colour has nothing to with it. His title of 'Minister for Higher Education and Intellectual Properties' is plainly ridiculous. Why has he been given this position?

  • @normwebs you make a good point.

  • @mikewalker2233 Thank you for a courteous response.

  • I got all the Muhammad Ali questions right...I'm a big fan but not an expert!

  • Well, at least he got his name right.

Still, for elected government officials, that's a pitiful score. Amazed about the Henry The 8th question - not so much for him getting it wrong, but what he gave as an answer (Henry The 7th succeeding Henry The 8th - FFS!!!).

And it's even worse being that you'd think as an elected parliamentarian, he would know about England's ruling classes.

Don't speak in public again, Mr Lammy. You'll only embarrass yourself.

  • David Lammy can't answer a lot of these questions because he can't concentrate due to the voices of all the dead in Iraq he is responsible for shouting and wailing at his conscience

  • @MegaBruckner You are mentally inferior if you believe that.

  • That really were the easiest MM questions ever. I'm not a sports fan but even I could answer about half of the first round questions and practically all of the general knowledge ones! If Lammy can't answer them does that imply that he is out of touch with the knowledge of the British public?

  • you should hear him talk on a government subject,he's embarrassing to watch.

  • This is the dumb bastard who wants to make white people slaves!

  • Tommer312 your he kind of "White" coward that has helped get the UK into so much shit mate...The only reason his IDIOT is paraded in front of White people is because he is Black..

  • @Caxton1488. No, it's because he was elected by the people of his constituency.

  • Normwebs: Yes, I have heard him speak as, until recently, he was my local MP. Though, I would like to point out, I did not vote for him or any other candidate.

Ironwand: No, there is not. My family has been [white] British for generations. I don't make decisions based on my race or family.

  • Intelligence ? What ? He boasts of being articulate. Have you ever viewed his statements/answers in political debate ? He bemuses his listeners by his total lack of intelligible communication. He seems to be answering a totally different question to that asked. He was selected by this Government for high office, and it should be held responsible for unhealthy appointments of this sort. His manner is to act as an intellectual. 'Mastermind' made this pose look ridiculous.

  • @normwebs "He seems to be answering a totally different question to that asked"

this is completely normal behaviour for any politician. you are just biassed because he's black.

  • @lovejoyandflowers11 You don't know how wrong you are. You have jumped to conclusions and made a cretinous statement through ignorance.

He did not just avoid answering questions in Parliament like other politicians (quite wrongly), he cannot grasp the point of the question, and flaps under pressure. This all became clearer when he showed his extreme limitations on 'Mastermind'. A Minister should not be expected to respond as he did.

His manner is to act intellectually. What a fraud

  • A question, Tommer, my dear chap. Is there an immigrant close up in your pedigree?

  • @Tommer312 clown

  • @truthoutmedia wanker

  • Yes, some were embarrassing, but youd be a damn liar if you said youd never made a few stupid mistakes in your life. And why get political (or RACIST some commenters) about it. Judge a party on their policies, not on how their members perform on entertainment trivia shows.

  • A product of the PC religion.

    Planet of the apes anyone?

  • your thiiiiiiick, your thick, your thick, your thick

    yooouuur thiiiiiiick, yooouuur thiiiiiiick!!!!

  • So are you, one would think, from your comment. It should be "you're" as in "you are". At least your comment is not racist, unlike many others on here.

  • I'm aware of what it should be. It would appear that the irony of the statement was lost on you.

  • The pressure may just have got to him. Your mind can go blank when you're put on the spot- you know the answer but it just won't come. But his answer for the question about Marie Curie was EMBARASSING!

  • What about the pressure in office. Should we not be concerned ?

  • and this guy is in charge of higher education? lmfao

  • These comments are RIDICULOUS - general knowledge rounds in Mastermind are notoriously difficult.

  • You are missing the point. Have you viewed the clip ? The questions given to him were simple, and yet his answers were cretinous. He is the Minister for Higher Education. Should we not be concerned that our current Government appoint such limited intellects into these positions? Why was he given this office ?

  • The questions were only simple if you knew the answers, someone can have a lot of knowledge acquired from reading about something that interests them, but their general knowledge can be poor. That doesn't mean they're stupid.

  • Comment removed

  • He was under pressure. What do you mean "even me"?

  • Sorry about 'even me'. Not what I really meant, though you were defending his ignorance, which I find bizarre. The questions for Celebrity Mastermind are much easier than usual. He barely answered any. Are you suggesting that it was all due to pressure ? Is it not important that, in his postion, he should be able to think straight at times of stress. Simple questions are hardly the same.

When answering questions in Parliament, he is almost unintelligible.

    Could you answer the

  • Were you able to answer the questions ?

  • yes

  • No its not acceptable. But, being The minister for higher education he was obviously the faster swimmer in that batch.

  • People in important positions are not always the brightest.

  • This ape has political power in Britain and they wonder why Africa is fucked up. We're next.

  • selecting a boxer's career is hardly intellectually demanding. The big idiot.

  • so funny thanks for posting, it's so obvious he was a token black man for the blair regime.

  • henry the 7th came to the thrown following henry the 8th, my word, he cant even count to 10

  • The answer was Edward Vi...it surprised me that he missed that, but you're right that his answer was quite funny....must count backwards in the Labour Party!

  • david lammy is a nobhead, he does as if he's standing up for the minorities, but in fact he's just bellend like a sheep followed the blair adminstration, dumb fucker,

  • I disagree. What are the chances of the LIb Dems coming to power? The BNP are nearly as big as them!!

  • I would object to a Black PM the same as I would object to a White Nigerian President....for example. Or a White Japanese President.

Although if I had to choose a Black MP to represent us abroad, I would choose geezers like Ian Wright and Stan Collymore!! Legends!

  • If you didn't notice bnprenaissance was taking the piss out of your grammar mistake.

  • Oh I'm sorry did I insult your boyfriend furthermore the day we have a black PM is the day you make a witty remark; it isn't going to happen.

  • THEY WILL

  • She keeps Moet et Chandon

    In her pretty cabinet

'Let them eat cake' she says

    Just like Marie Antoinette

    A built-in remedy

    For Kruschev and Kennedy

    At anytime an invitation

    You can't decline

  • We'd be better off with Toyah wilcox as education minister.

  • The BNP will soon be accepting these "people" within their ranks.

  • LAMMYENTABLE

  • One word - TOKEN.

  • let lammy become the next PM,not because hes black but as the first british PM with special needs learning difficulties

  • He is no different to any other politician. They all avoid answering questions directly.

  • Not what I meant. His replies are senseless. MPs on all sides are puzzled as to what he is actually talking about. Do you think he quite follows the question ? Yes, other MPs do avoid answering, and you may grudgingly admire their skill, but Mr. Lammy's replies are unintelligible.

His manner is to give the impression of intellect. This image was made to look ridiculous on Mastermind, as it is whenever he is questioned. I am puzzled still about his Harvard entry.

  • Agreed but even Blunkett was made to look silly. Surely he couldnt have passed Harvard if he's an idiot? Then again i suppose George Bush did too.

  • A reasonable response. However, what do you mean by 'even Blunkett' as if he is something special? It seems to me an over-rated and grossly over-appointed career politician. He inanely laughed when he was unable to answer simple questions when on Mastermind. Odd.

Back to Mr. Lammy. How did he get into Harvard? Surely there are entrance tests. Or did his qualification from his earlier college exempt him ?

Surely any Harvard applicant would know of Marie Curie? Not Antionette, David/

  • Or maybe not, that's just it. Bit pretentious of us to assume we know the barometer of what's intelligent. People specialise in different fields.

  • The argument goes nowhere. Do you really think one should specialise to know the difference between Marie Curie and Marie Antoinette? What about all his other barmy answers? He is the Minister for Higher Education. My God. If you feel his lack of knowledge is a sign of some kind of inverted intelligence, then you deserve him and, no doubt, others like him.

You're responses are reasonable. I am therefore staggered that you are defending how he has achieved high office with such ignorance.

  • They should have put the stupid monkey on junior mastermind.

  • Being a politician doesn't mean you have to be omniscient. It means you have to possess political prowess.

However calling someone a 'stupid monkey' displays the vacuous and flippant nature of your character. :)

  • Ah well I call it how I see it.

Does he have political prowess? No.

    Is he stupid? Clearly.

Is he a monkey? Not far off.

Please do not make assumptions about my character, you don't know the first thing about me.

Vacuous, you don't have a clue.

  • I was making an assumption based on your comment. I call it as i see it. I judged you with the same degree of depth and respect as you did him. I stand by my remark.

  • No, I am not just judging him on this video alone ,unlike you are with my comments.

  • if the people of tottenham vote this fukwit twat in again - God help us

  • This is a bloody classic!!

Versailles as a PRISON??!! I nearly fell out of my chair laughing. At least when the guy answered Henry 7th he immediately recognised the stupity of his answer moments later.

There are so many more classic displays of ignorance here as well though. When we in the UK have warmed the heels of these buffoons to the gallows we can play this back and wonder how people like this ever got into the upper echelons of society.

  • Blunkett was and remains a Buffoon !

  • Fuck me, according to this minister for Higher education Henry the 8th was succeeded by Henry the 7th. No wonder the countrys fucked with idiots like this in charge.

  • Pathetic

  • Can't decide if I was more amused by 'Versailles' being used as a prison, or The Godfather being 'an American TV series'.

Henry VII being Henry VIII's heir is a clear winner though...

  • Shocking! Bloody retard.

  • Murderer

  • I couldn't believe this when it screened. My ten year old knows more. I know there has to be seen to be people of various ethnic origins in politics, but you'd think they'd choose one with an iota of general knowledge!!

  • Oh dear oh dear.

The gift of the gab only goes as far as the content of your immaculate sentences!

  • Why was he chosen to be Minister of State for Higher Education and Intellectual Property??? I wouldn't trust him to run a bath.

  • Poor old Lammy. He could`nt even memorise the answers they gave him beforehand.Ha,ha,ha

  • lammy gets stuck on DS brain train until the batteries are flat.Prime minister lammy

  • I saw this when it was transmitted last week and was appalled. And to think we elect these guys to run our country? No wonder we are in such a mess.

  • Brave for being on but, oh dear, this after he presumably had a crib sheet to read.

  • When a Radio 5 Live presenter sprung an unscheduled question on the Schools Standards Minister, Stephen Byers declared that 8 x 7 equalled 54!

When Alistair Campbell and Fiona Millar appeared in Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, the £2,000 question was: "Which country launched the Skylab space station?" The correct answer was the US, they said France!

Tony Blair was once asked how many kilometres there were in 50 miles. He didn't know!

    1 km = 5/8 of a mile, thus 50 miles = 80 km.
