This is pretty interesting. If you think about it, it's not very strange for the electronic music culture to embrace the ideas of the Free State Project. Raving is about being free to party and to live however you like and disregarding mainstream societies views on what is and is not acceptable. Ravers clearly show they intend to do things that they know society says is wrong or illegal but present no harm to any other person and acknowledge the responsibilities of their actions. Sound familiar?
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Amendment II
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
The Founding Fathers won their Liberty at a huge cost in blood, and they preserved it for a few generations not by getting blasted out of their minds on drugs and provoking petty confrontations with police, but through the strength of their character and high moral standards. Without BOTH of those qualities, no man will ever have liberty.
I am a subscriber, and I like the Ridley Report, I support open carry , but fellow Liberty lovers: We MUST raise the bar in this movement.
So... they should be free the way you think they should? doesn't sound like liberty to me. If they are responsibly open carrying and enjoying their liberty then I say personal responsibility and liberty for the win. IMO the only measure of proper liberty is whether or not you are infringing on the liberties of others.
"So... they should be free the way you think they should?"
No that's not what I'm suggesting. I'm simply pointing out that history's example shows clearly that liberty flourishes where there is virtue, and dies where virtue is lacking.
Please explain why this is not a good idea? the same logic applies, if I decide to hurt someone or rob someone I know that probably 50% or more of the people are carrying firearms. Probably not the best idea for me to do anything stupid in that environment.
I've been to many raves and i know that something crazy always happens. It is my opinion that most of the craziness could be prevented with properly trained, armed citizens, prepared to defend themselves; get stupid at your own risk
I'm assuming you're not against open carry period, or you'd say that. So at what point in the chain of circumstances did open carry suddenly become not ok? Let's see...
So open carry is ok. Open carry while dancing to mellow music is ok. But open carry while dancing to electronica is bad?
Are you sure there's any logic to your statement, and not just a a knee-jerk reaction based on vague emotional associations?
IT WAS. This has absolutely NO BUSINESS being called a rave. As someone who has been to many raves, and was there, speaking with others who have been to raves... This... UGH... This was a couple of douches dancing in front of a projector. (with 4-5 times as many people standing around motionless. (Apologies to the douches) This was a very half-assed and embarassing attempt at a rave. Setting up a projector and a computer with your MP3's on shuffle does not a rave make.
What's even worse, is that, NOT present at this event, was the DJ who had been spinning Drum and Bass for the two nights previous. The ONE person with any credentials that could have added legitimacy to this being actually rave-like was excluded from this Enya "pure moods" playing yuppie fest. Ian dropped a gauntlet about this type of complaining though, so, next year will hopefully be different, and a far far better attempt will be made.
It looks like putting "rave" in the video tag wasn't the greatest idea... the clip found its way to a bunch of kids who want to argue the specifics. You need to turn 270 degrees with the glowstick spinning in a counterclockwise fashion with music from this list: " " .... Learn about the FS movement guys..

rave ? there are only 20 ppl hahaha . wtf guns are not what raves are about - only in America i guess . Glad i done my raving 15 yrs ago when it was full of loved up wonderful folk .
from what I've seen of the other videos these people are "loved up wonderful folk". They're just prepared to defend themselves and protect their friends and family.
Should leave the guns at home and be fully prepared to defend the music my friend - and most importantly , let ya bloody hair down and click ya fucking heels - after all its supposed to be a fun time to be had by all or has some fucker moved the goal-posts . Peace

Seriously, New Hampshire could lose their freedoms if freedom is spent unwisely
Anyone ever heard the quote "What is liberty, without virtue?"
Be careful guys...

I guess we have a differing definition of what a rave is. I always thought it was a dance party where they play fast-paced electronic music.

I agree. Playing MP3s on your computer doesn't count.
To be a real rave you need a superstar DJ mixing mp3s on his...um...computer.
