  • @IneadAbanana all health concerns need to be discussed with a medical officer during your medical exam. You will need to talk about this specific concern with a recruitment officer because your health involves confidentiality issues that we can't discuss online. Good luck!

  • what is a combat eginer

  • @redace52 -Combat engineer's can build roads and bridges. They can clear land mines & IED's - just to name a few things. Check out the forces.ca website for more details.

  • Wow they are a lot nicer then I remember

  • I NEED HELP. If I do not meet the CF fitness requirements, is there a platoon I am assigned to that gets me fit for Basic Training?

  • @TheMeanSgtPlaysPiano Please visit the following link for detailed CF fitness requirements:

    army.forces.gc.ca/land-terre/joining-enroler/eligibility-admissibilite-eng.asp

For additional information please contact your local recruiting office.

  • @TheMeanSgtPlaysPiano

The requirements are very easy to meet. Although just meeting the minimum makes BMQ harder.

  • Last Saturday at home for me, next week I'm there!

  • @saintrobbie375 So, How did it go? Im asuming you finished.

  • Not to seem condescending in any way, but my god this whole process looks rather friendly. I know in videos almost all armed services "soften up" what the public sees going on in Basic, but after watching Parris Island stuff for a few hours this looks a damn sight less terrifying.

  • basic trainning is so fun

  • woohoo basic trainning is so fun

  • what hapends to ther knives do they get them back

  • @The67676767676767676 For more information regarding confiscated contraband items, please contact your local recruiting office.

  • @The67676767676767676

Yes they place them in their civilian lock-up. I suggest you do not bring them to begin with, as you will not need one. However something like a multi-tool is acceptable.

  • hey

    i would like to join

but my only probleme is that when i run for a while im starting asthma after a good run

never been really bad, just a little bit

but i do have a good cardio though

after taking my pump, it all goes back to normal

  • @mastahlone I have asthma as well...however it's never kept me from doing anything. Just work at it to build your lung capacity to compensate if you need to. You will be just fine. The platoon's PT will start off relatively easy. I had to run off to take my puffer a few times myself, and they never denied me that right.

    Good luck.

  • @mastahlone According to the website, as long as you are not limited by your condition, you can still be accepted. I have well-controlled moderate asthma, and they've told me that I'll need a letter from my doctor and pulmonologist, but as long as they give me the OK, I'll be good.

  • Right now, I excel way past every physical standard, I'm just afraid of the grip test.

  • how long is basic traning

  • @qwased131994 Basic training is approximately 13 weeks.

  • lets say some one can't pronounce "R" will they be accepted?

  • @olegcartoons This should not be a problem. However, your local recruiting centre can provide further details, including if any trades for you to join will be eliminated.

  • @CanadianArmyNews so will sergeant be mad at me when i say "Sehgeant"?

  • i want to join so bad but running is my vice i can sprint but long distance running is pretty hard cause i don't have those long legs you know i can do everything to get in but the running any help are advice for training or if you do training for that

  • @Freepepsi42 build your stamina, practice & develop a style. that's a stupid reason not to join. there are plenty of jobs in the military that require no running at all.

  • @Freepepsi42 there are plenty of programs on the web that are free you can follow to build to 5k. I went from running 2.5 to 5k in about eight weeks. I also play hockey three times a week to build my stamina so that may be a bit faster then you could. But like I said, find a 0-5k program, some of them are great and you'll find yourself in two weeks feeling a huge difference.

  • It sucks they take knives away. I so want to bring my SOG knife with me

  • lol, they think that there privates :P

you don't get called that till your done the BMQ... unless i am confused but I'm sure i heard that somewhere.

  • @frown151 No they are Private recruits. once they're done that they're considered Private (basic) then after they do their DP1/QL3 they're Private (trained) then they get their chevron after that.

  • @frown151 there is like three diffrent types one for traing one for right after training and one for after everything all schooling and like ready to deploy

  • It scares me, that these guys are our allies. It looks so hard to be a scout.

  • I watch an episode of this show before I go for my daily runs :) Just waiting on my medical and interview now!

  • is the food free? or does it come off your paychecks?

  • So, do you have to be of a certain rank to have a sweet mustache?

  • @AFroese at least in the US Military the unwritten rule is that mustaches are for NCO's

  • im leaving in aug. just curious, what happens if say in first express test i fail the hand grip , or the pushups ... i know im fine on sit ups and beep test.? but if i do feel do i just continue normal bmq, and retest week 10 or ?

  • @NoseBleedMusic there is a minimum that will get you put on PAT platoon. My buddy is there now and he said a few guys from his platoon failed the pushups but are given 30 days to pass the test. Then they get another 30 days. After another 30 days if they fail they are out. But your mind set going in should be "Always do your best". Hoping to meet the minimums is not the best way to approach basic.

  • @NoseBleedMusic I hear you get put on PAT platoon if you only meet the minimums and work from there.

  • @saintrobbie375 as long as you get 75 pounds on the grip test, 6 on the beep test, 19 sit ups, and 4 pushups you will make a platoon. They give you till week 8 to get to 19 pushups, or else you go on wft platoon.

  • LEAVING APRIL 17TH!!!!!!!!!!!

  • good luck!

  • As a wife of someone who just finished BMQ...this was a very helpful show. Thanks in advance to everyone of you who do take the plunge, those who are serving and those who have served. As a side note the support of your family helps with your success. The Grad was amazing. Hugs

  • Wonder what BMOQ is like. Im at the military college and appenrently we do a different course.

  • i am In ROTP i think you RMC lot only do 10 weeks because of what you do at the college where as ROTP candidates have to do 15 weeks

  • Just submitted the online application. Wasn't able to find Armored Soldier as an occupation option though. How long is the recruiting process for military occupations in demand? I am stoked for this!

  • I'm just now heading off to basic in a month and i have been going through the process since the end of may. You might be waiting for a while and maybe you'll get in in a matter of weeks I really can't say. But keep busy in the mean time It can be a very .. very long wait.

  • Armoured Soldier (NCM) is currently largely over subscribed and there is a very long waiting period.

  • lol this is funny they make it look so much different from what it actually is hahaha oh man this is like CF censored.

  • really! i was about to say this looks toooooo easy!

  • @Netttt man im glad... this seems too easy (mentally)

  • @Netttt true, but i did BMQ reserves

  • @Netttt Tell me more o-o

    WHAT HAPPENS

  • im 13 when im 17 going in fro infantry

  • Oh sweet, what trade did you get into? And did you just get out of highschool or are you in post secondary?

  • Anyone else going in as a combat engineer??

  • armored crewman, just got accepted 2 weeks ago. when do u leave for BMQ?

  • I just got accepted as that too. I leave on the 21st of Nov to St jean. you?

  • I start basic on Oct. 5th in St. Jean

  • God, I can't wait. I leave for my BMQ Oct 3rd

  • Canadian Basic is a lot different from U.S. Basic. With the U.S. Basic, you don't get to leave the base on weekends and you can't smoke, but Canadian Basic is longer than most U.S. Branches Basic's except the U.S. Marine Corps.

  • You guys are going to have the time of your lives...BMQ is shit, but I have never had a better feeling in my life than graduating from basic.

Just play the game, guys...play the game. Take the shit, and use it to motivate yourselves. The staff doesn't yell because they like it (well, for the most part). They yell because they want you to improve.

  • You from Edmonton?

  • I'm going to basic September 28th, anyone else?

  • I leave Sept 5th, starting 8th.

  • same here

  • Still waiting for medical to be approved

  • im going on the2nd too

  • i go on Aug 2 , anyone going on that date to basic to ?

  • yea man im going on the 2nd too, where you from brother?

  • Affirmative.

  • im going to st.jean july 25th, hope to see some of you there good luck with your careers!

  • We might see each other there :P

  • I can't wait to start basic, should be going late july early august

  • ya me niether, i start around that time too, what are you going in as, im joining the RCR as an infantry soldier

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome show!!

  • If you join the Reserves at the age of 16, is it easier to be accepted into the Forces training programs when you turn 17?

  • Where is this training taking place?

  • I always wondered... Does the reserve force do the same basic training as the regular forces. If any one knows, thanks.

  • yea brody im asking the same question can some one give use that information for the stay home reserves as well please leave a pvt msg thanks alot.

  • IS FOOD FREE?

  • You pay your rations off your pay while in basic training.

  • o rly? i didn't even know that

  • 2 weeks left in my technical training at S.A.I.T then im applying for EGS Tech or ED Tech

  • I went to SAIT too! Had to do a medical withdrawal in early february for surgery, but I do have my certification. Going down tomorrow to talk with the Navy guys, and hopefully start the paperwork to get in as a MARS officer (I do have my BA Arky from U of C)

  • Be sure you are strong in math that you can do in your head, as you will need to know math. I had tryed out for MARS officer but insted I'm going in as an Armour Officer.

  • I actually had a long sitdown with a buddy's brother that just completed MARS Phase 4, and also talked with PO2 Woodward at CFRC Calgary, and remustered my App to NESOp (first choice), NCIOp (2nd choice) and NavComm (3rd choice). NCM = more along the lines of a career plan I have :D I love the staff at the CFRC. Sooooo understanding of my enthusiasm :D

  • Damn! Lots of SAITers joining the forces o_O that's like 6 people from youtube alone :o

  • going to the recruiting office april 8th, do my sign up and go from there, woot

  • I leave for basic this sat i cant wait i watch all of them...cant wait

  • Im leaving for St. Jean in 9 days!!

  • Based on the first episode part three one of them say that it took them 3 years to call her. Is that how long it takes them to make a decision if you are hired or not after all the testing and everything is complete at the recruitment centre?

Because that is unbelievably long, lots of things change in that timespan. People cant be expected to wait THAT long for an answer. Even one year is a long time for an answer.

  • prob. not

  • no it took me like 2 weeks for them to call.. and it depends on what trade.... if u have a red flag trade then they will call u fast

  • I got my call within 2-weeks

  • US Army it took me 2 days to get enlisted.

  • I'm a reservist so it's probably different than full time employees, but I believe it took me about 4 months to recieve my call from the day I finished my medical/interview etc.

  • @TheTurbinator i have been waiting for 8months now.

  • @TheTurbinator I've waited three years myself. 27 when I applied, 30 and still waiting to be merit listed. Absolute garbage.

  • Same here. I am doing gr 11 and 12 this one year.

  • i feel bad, they have to live in the green sector

  • very nice best video ive seen in basic tranning im joining in 4 years

  • You can join the Reserves at 16 and the Reg Force at 17 (with parental aproval)
