  • The corresponding Tamil video is : on : youtube.com/watch?v=BiD6xmKQcwg&feature=related

  • This is from MAIN SUNDER HOON and not DO PHOOL...

  • @MrRajinderBhatia

Sorry, my bad!! This is from DO PHOOL. Both Do Phool as well as Main Sunder Hoon were released the same year (1971) Do Phool had music by R D Burman. My apologies.

  • Mehmood a class apart...outstanding comedian and actor....absolutely refreshing..

  • The original is a tamil song. The original song puns on the word 'Muthu' which means both 'pearl' and 'kiss' in tamil. The actress (manorama) asks Nahesh (actor) - want to come pearl-diving with me? Nagesh puns back - want to give me a kiss?

Mehmood's copy is good, melodious and entertaining in its own way, but the original is far cuter. Nagesh is also incredibly athletic, the most athletic actor I've seen.

  • @MegaGoofy2000 how to find the original tamil song with video?

  • haahahahaaaaaaaa........kitna acha se kiya Mehmood ji ne..... awesome....picturisation..........see his face expressions.....ohhhh....great ....

  • we were kids we kept on rewinding dis song, it was so funny, film was great to!!

  • Simply awesome and addictive ... love the choreography ... Mehmood sahab's simply great with his comic style and timing

  • Rd boss. love you.!!! awesome composition!!!

  • may be mehmood's father was tamil, that is the only explanation for his obsession towards copying and lifting Tamil songs or acting like tamil wearing lungi. in this song, padosan, gumnaam etc..

  • @prabhu19

Copying n lifting r such cheap words yaar........he always gave credit to original actors n composers, I'v seen him so many times praising Nagesh.......newaz I think evn ur intention was to say gud things abt mehmood sahab, newaz many ppl think tht he was good only with comedy, n sum feel he was over rater, for those ppl I wud say watch Kunwara baap Main sundar hoon :D

  • Multi-talented Mehmood is a delight to watch, no matter what he did .... What an incredible career graph he had .... a classic case of rags to riches to rags .... BUT his accomplishments are praiseworthy .....God Bless his Soul!

  • Lyrics definitely not Tamil or Malayalam.. Telugu I think..

  • The orignal song was from the Tamil movie Anubavi Raja Anubavi .

  • First time I heard this song. RDB mostly used the original Tamil song melody as it is. Barring Asha's spirited rendition, this song sounded like a loud re-mix of the original. The ending of the original Tamil song is fantastic and the hindi version lacks the folky flavor of the original. Mahmood is a good actor, and he reenacted the roles made classic by Nagesh in Tamil in the hindi remakes ( Pyar Kiye jaa, Mein hoon Sundar, Do Pool, Bomaby to Goa and many more) with moderate success.

  • Evergreen!

Since my schooldays, got hooked on Mehmoodsahab's "haa aa haa aa" when he starts to sing his "antara". - 0:46

  • I meant "Mukhada" not "Antara". :-)

  • Classic is gold, one of my fav songs

  • don't make such comedies anymore. classic stuff!

  • The actress is Ramaprabha, a Telugu Character actress and ex-wife of Sarath babu.

  • this song n movie do phool is one of the most comedy movie of mehmood and vinod mehra .Do you know that in 1994-95 david dhawan remake this movie n made aankhen with govinda and chankey pandey and the same double role of mehmood played by govinda............

  • The language they are singing is Malayalam. Since this character of Mehmood is a man who lives with his mother in Kochi. So the real translation is "Come let me give you a kiss" or Muthu Kodukaan Vadivada, which fits really well in with the rest of the lyrics and the coreography.

But then again I would also like to point out that this song is based on a Tamil song with a similar sounding title "Muthu Kulika Vaareegala".

    And also, great song =)

  • someone just got me this DVD for secret santa for like £1...

  • mehmood always do best

  • very good dance, song and acting

  • "Muthukulikka vaareegala" was actually a very popular tamil number in the 60's from the movie "anubavi raja anubavi"... here's a youtube link to the original song.. youtube.com/watch?v=BiD6xmKQcwg

  • Ramaprabha and Mehmood in Do Phool

  • I am Bangladeshi and don't understand this language; however, you don't need to know the language to enjoy the art of the music and dance. I love it. Thanks for uploading this songs. Even then, they were sexy and meaningful.

  • Thank you indeed for posting this fabulous song. Such clean entertainment! Never thought I shall find this adolescent time favourite of mine in Youtube. Thanks again.

  • The actress as well as Mehmood's costumes are typical Kerala costume with presumably Kerala background scenery . This is a funny song in two languages.

  • Great Mehmood....Wat a comedy song with its classss

  • What a lovely song !!!

  • who is singing with Asha bhosle, is it mahmood him self?, who is the actress, she looks beautiful

  • If McChirkeen is a man, come in front of any self-respected INDIAN and he will see if he can escape the result of his COMMENT on INDIANS. He should not forget that NOT all Indians are like the present PM Mamohan Singh and his gang who will Salute the foreign power and enslave themselves

  • one of the mehmood best songs

  • is it konkini language?

  • lol I didn't know Mehmood was southindian, he's funny as hell lol.

  • what is the meaning of muthu kudi kawadi hada

  • @rockky131313

It means " Do you want to make out ??"........

  • @rockky131313 : It is one of the myriads of hindi song lyrics that is meaningless but spin enough money to take the creators laughing all the way to the bank!

  • @rockky131313 I think it means - Will you come with me to get the pearls (from the sea)?

  • I love this song ssoooo much......even the Tamil version of this song is so nice.......Tamil version sung by TMS & LR Eswari - Nagesh and Manorama in the movie.

  • Another point to note : Mehmood speaks Tamil very well.

  • @dlsb13

He was from Chennai.....I believe from Triplicane!

  • what a song. memhood at the best. typical south indian guy. haaa

  • they're speaking tamil and hindi at the same time :S?

  • not just that.. the girl is dressed like a mallu fisherwoman and the guy like a tamil brahmin.. WTF?

  • yea i see that, good observation

it could probably be one of those stories, a love relationship that challenges the society

  • My Bad..this song is from Anubavi raja anubavi (1967) Director: K. Balachander Writer: K. Balachander Cast (Credited cast) Jayabharati S.N. Lakshmi Manorama Muthuraman Nagesh and not from Nenjam marapathillai..sorry.
  • This song originally from tamil movie called "Nenjam marapathillai" starred by Nagesh and Manorama (Guiness record holder for acting more no. of movies). The slang used here is from southmost part of tamil nadu called Tirunelveli.

  • A sweet fun song.

  • I though it means that a crow(mehmood)got a pearl(the sweaty girl)

  • it is the best combination of memood and ashaji

  • LOVE THIS SONG!

    Oldie but fun times

  • i was searching this song.

    thanks rajshri.

  • I think it's reused from the same song that Kamal Haasan and Manorama sung in tamil.

  • I agree with AKSHA67 comments.

  • mehmood is always in our heart

  • Very good to listen classic & comedy,Manna Dey & mehmodd are mixed in fantastic song.

  • I am sorry, my friend, but this song was sung by Asha Bhosle and Mehmood only. Mehmood was the producer of this movie (Do Phool). When Panchamda (R D burman) was composing the song, as a producer Mehmood used to be there and sing along this song. I think originally Kishorkumar was to sing this song, but Panchamda decided that Mehmood should sing this song himself.

  • whats the tamil part mean?

  • Its supposed to be Malayalam and not Tamil.. but no idea what the entire sentence means .... Ayyoda means "Oh Boy!"

  • "Muthu Kulika Vaarigala, Moochai Adaka Vaaarigala". Muthu means "pearl." The act of going into the sea and the getting the pearl back (which is a heroic act) in tamil is called "muthu kulika," vaarigala means "r u coming" so the girl is actually asking the man if he has the ability to hold his breath for so long to go inside the sea and get the pearl. And Ayyo da is used in Tamil and Malayalam...in Tamil it means Oh no!

  • It means come let me give u a kiss.

However the pronunciation is so different from the original that almost no one can recognize it. It is malayalam not tamil.

muthu = kiss in kannada lol

    kodukaan= to give

    vadi= come(for women)

    ivida=here

But one can never be sure if this was what the line meant.

  • Not malayalam my brother it is tamil.

    Muthu - pearl

    kulika - deep diving

    vaareegala - ru coming

fugitive 143 have given a clear meaning.

Original movie - Nenjam marapathillai (1963)

  • It's from the movie "Do Phool" a 70's film. Vinod Mehra was the other co-star in this film.

  • It's song from movie -

    Main Sundar Hoon (1971)

Cast: Aruna Irani, Bishwajeet, David, Leena, Mehmood , Wonderful Music By: R.D.Burman

    Director: Krishan Panju

    Producer: Murgan M Kumaran

    Lyrics: Anand Bakshi

  • Enjoyed it. Reminds me of my childhood days when we sang irrespective of it being tamil or malayalam.

  • its not in malayalam..its in tamil...and its NOT MUTHU KODI KAWADI HADA ...ITS "MUTHU KULIKKA VAAREEHALAAA"...

  • but wat does it mean? ny idea??

  • The singers in the Tamil film Anubhavi Raaja Anubhavi of 1967 are Eswari L R, Sounderarajan T M. That song is slightly staider than the version filmed on Mehmood.

  • reflects the eclectic composition skills of RD - amazing guy

  • lolllll...indians!!!!

  • YEAH?WHAT'S SO FUNNY ABOUT INDIANS?

  • do i need to mention what is ?lol

  • who r uuuuuuuuuu,btw?

  • listen buddy why do you think people say stuff about indians? could it be that they are jerks like you plus they smell like a toilet. What do you think? Dick.

  • will i smell like a toilet after i stab u?

  • @McChirkeen Who is this DOG McChirkeen using faul language at INDIANS. It may be MANMOHAN SINGH AND HIS GOVT. WHO IS TAKING ALL THE SHITS FROM THE FOREIGN POWER. INDIANS ANYWHERE DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE IT. KICK THIS THIS GUY ASS..........

  • @McChirkeen

Pathetic, very pathetic. McCHICKEN, do not belittle your superiors. You hate "niggar" because you feel and are inferior to everyone else. Think about your pathetic existence and maybe, just maybe, you can rise above the slime that you have cultivated in your mind.

  • @McChirkeen

You are a pathetic human being. Feel sorry for you.

  • Comment removed

  • And who are you??

A cross between a dog and a pig?

  • great upload,, u rock,,,

  • Its in Malyalam and Mehmood and Asha have sung it. I miss the hillarity that Mehmood's comedy brought to Bollywood in its most ridiculous way. Nothing seems so funny in Bollywood anymore.

  • Who sings this? Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle? Is the title of the song in Tamil?

  • Yes its in Tamil.

  • The location of the original song sung by the incomparable duo of TMS(ounderarajan) and LR Easwari is Thoothukudi (Tuticorin during the Raaj).

  • Sung by Mehmood himself

  • Tuti is famous for Pearl diving "Muthu kuliyal" in Tamil = bathing for Pearls. It is truly amazing. These guys(well, 100% are male, I believe) do scuba diving without oxygen cylinders, stay down there for quite a while and emerge with the oysters which might contain a Kohinoor of Pearls!

Tuticorin has now other famous landmarks: the Koodankulam nuclear plant is close by and if the Ram Sethu controversy is resolved and the Sethusamudram canal built, Tuticorin port will get real, real busy!

  • No its not Kishore it is Mahmood himself

    singing with Asha jee

  • The original song "Muthu Kulikka Vareehala" is from the laugh riot Tamil movie "Anubhavi Raaja Anubhavi" (literal translation: Anubhav Karo, Raaja, Anubhav Karo", but really meaning "Enjoy, Raaja, enjoy".
