I've spent time in Italy in hostels and when you are talking to people with european accents all the time and trying to pick up the odd word and make yourself understood its easy to slip into this weird euro-accent. I've done it myself. It also helps with pronouncing words in the language you're trying to learn.

@comfortablynumb1975x if you go to India you'll find a lot of people speak English but they do it with a distinct Indian accent - like wise Chinese English speakers etc - they'd find it a lot easier to understand you if you affected their accent when you spoke and I think I saw Michael Palin doing it once
probably not as necessary with the Dutch accent but I reckon thats why hes Dutched it up, hes not just affected the accent but hes alttered the actual grammar to be more comprehensible

to be fair you have a point. I've spent time in Italy in hostels and when you are talking to people with european accents all the time and trying to pick up the odd word and make yourself understood its easy to slip into this weird euro-accent. I've done it myself. It also helps with pronouncing words in the language you're trying to learn.

It's actually quite sensible to speak with an accent when in a foreign country, because it's much easier for foreigners to understand, as that's how they would speak English.

@RodeoClownsUK He's missing words out, miss pronouncing words and refering to the English language as if it where not his native tongue. It wasn't even a half decent attempt at a Dutch accent. I think some Dutch may have been pretty insulted by this. There is no way he was trying to aid the poor reporter. He was either doing it as a poor joke or he is in fact a bit silly.

@NottinghamForest22 I doubt he will take us to the playoffs 2 seasons in a row. Love to be proved wrong. Not sure he did very well at Wolfsburg either. He plays such uninventive football. Not sure he will cut it in the championship as I dont see him as having much grit. Billy is a top championship manager who could have pushed us on I think into the Premiership if he was given the backing he deserved. Its sad to see a guy sacked who really did nothing wrong only to be replaced by this wacko!

@TucoElMatador At Wolfsburg they sold their two best players when McClaren had arrived. He got sacked when they were 12th in the table. They did not improve after he left as they finished 15th (4th from the bottom). Davies criticised his boss too much, was obvious he was going to get sacked. He also rotated the squad way too much for my liking. Like starting mcgoldrought and the god awful tudgay up front in the second leg against swansea. I think we needed a change.

I would have spoken out or maybe even walked out if I were him. Its a shame to dislike your own new manager but I dont think my opinion of him will change unless we win the Champions League twice in a row!

His club record is very good, Forest fans not wanting him is just plain silly. Better than that Poison Dwarf Billy Davies, who only ever had success at Derby County.
