Yeah 3rd Strike was THE best SF in my opinion, the hardcore gameplay and overall look of 3rd is what makes it so great! But I'm looking forward to sf4 and I hope it does just as well or better in terms of gameplay lasting appeal. :]

Exactly, in your opinion. But the fact is that SFII has been around longer and is overall much more popular and financially successful. Third Strike, especially in comparison to SFII, was a financial disaster. While it's gorgeous and fast-paced and exciting, so is Guilty Gear, and GG doesn't have a subsystem that completely nullifies 80& of it's own gameplay(parrying), which is one of the reasons the game sold so poorly.

And yes, I play SF4 on a regular basis at Super Arcade in Walnut, CA.

SFIII wasn't unsuccessful because of it's gameplay. Parrying made SFIII have gameplay deeper than any fighter before it. What are you talking about, nullifying? Are you just pissed that you can't spam the same stupid ass block string thousands of times? Parrying gives focus to the most important part of a competitive game: reading your opponent. The only thing parrying nullifies is stupidity. Maybe the game was just too smart for America.

And every single person actually in the competitive fighting game scene admits that 3s is great BUT just an entry game to more complex titles. Just because you generalize and simplify the mechanics of other fighters and idolize and elaborate the mechanics of 3s doesn't make 3s the best game ever. It just makes you a fanboy of a game that barely outlived Guilty Gear XX's lifespan and is still overshadowed by ST and MvC2 in survivability.

3s uses a save all system mechanic, while earlier titles rely more on the creativity of the player to triumph in situations. 3s is a great game, and I love it. However it's a bit less strategic than ST. Street Fighter IV seems to strike a balance between the two titles though, with Saving attacks. a lot of top players don't like 3s simply because zoning and spacing isn't as difficult in 3s as it was in ST. Also it creates bad habits like fishing for parries, and lack of blocking

3 is nearly the most strategic game ever. It's underrated because it doesn't have much of what people look for. MvC2 has about 52 characters and big flashy specials that appeals to a lot of people.

GG is still there, and ST had to go because it's the longest running competitive fighter in history and needs to hang it's hat, which 3s will be doing next year for more time to showcase even gayer, more popular shit like Mashy Blood and Fate:UC. &I don't play Brawl; there are better party games out there. They're building off of what made the franchise as a whole great, not what someone thinks are the best parts of 3s. The visuals of SF4 are completely breathtaking and the gameplay is like a smoother ST with the Saving Attack feature included to give it added depth akin to parrying in SF3, only it makes the game LESS self-defeating, so in other words, they've perfected their most successful and best installment of the franchise, Street Fighter II. I wonder if you've even played SF4 yet...
