Your not getting enough oil to the cams by sound of it I'd be checking oil pump common fault and get sum fully synthetic oil be sure to clean all the sump and strainer out !!

there is a serivce bulletin on alldata about this and audi offers no recall or fix for this they say do not replace tensionor they expect u to replace engine and hop it doesnt have same problem. iatn has some techs who r using a motor flush and switching from synthetic to regular oil and is workin on some cars. we are currently tryin this before diggin in to check oil screen or replace tensionr. it should stay up once oil press bulids but yes will drop at idle at knock or knock on start

Verify oil pressure switch and the oil you should use is 5w-30. Also, you should pour a quart of oil in the cap next to the oil filter.
