  • hi we need this material, can you give me adress

    thanks 2584434@gmail.com

  • How toxic is the resin shell? I am thinking of an aquarium - rock vave background. The foam has been used with concrete, but that eventually falls apart. Some aquarium decorations I have seen are made of resin - but which and how is it treated to be safe for fish?

  • @desertbard Not so much an issue of how toxic, since the cured product doen't release anything, more of an issue of testing. Since this product hasn't been tested for that I really don't know what it would do. We do have customer making parts for aquariums but they have independantly tested their materials and process.

  • I'm hoping to make a giant tree that will go in the foyer of our children's ministry. Is this foam and resin a good option? It needs to be pretty sturdy and dent resistant. Thanks.

  • @steveandamysilva The resin coating will make it very strong if applied 1/16th of an inch or more.

  • Can you recommend how to make a large piece of concrete pavement which might break into chunks when it hits the ground? Thanks!

  • Cool...thanks for sharing your process.

  • I really like this method thanks for the video

  • 0:19 its like a light saber

  • Is there an online reference for knowing which of these many FX/molding/casting materials can or can not be used together?

  • @creepsomber Call us and we can help you with compatibility issues.

  • after you make the heard coat can you devolve the styro foam out of the resin shell or do you have to keep it on there to it stays rigid?

  • @cube60659 I guess you could melt it out with acetone.

  • Hi brick in the yard

I've been working with fiberglass and resin for some years now and love to use styrofoam to scolpt some parts for my projects. However the resin I use always melts the foam ether from the cemecolses or from the heat up proses, so I have to use other methods to harden the form. So when I sore this I could'nt help but be Amazed. What makes this resin different from other tipe A Fiberglass resins ?

  • @RhinoNuts Urethane resin does not contain solvents like polyester resin. EZ Flo and 15 series resins available on our webstore work over foam w/ no problems.

  • Thanks any Mr brickintheyard, does easyflow 120 have a brandname, where can obtain it?

  • @MrJimjambob check the end of the video for our contact info or call us at 1 888 676 2489

  • I intend to make a fibre-glass mould, could I follow this method to make a resin coated styrofoam block to make my fibreglass mould? (would the easy flow coating be o.k to wax or accept a releasing agent?)

  • @MrJimjambob Not sure. That is uncharted turf for me.

  • Is the resin available in the UK?? England the old one

  • Get white Elmers glue and dilute it at a ratio of one to one with water. You can make it any color you want with regular food coloring. Put on several coats of the glue mixture letting it dry between coats.

This will also seal the foam so it will not dissolve if you use spray paint..

You can get 8 pounds of Elmers glue ( 1 Gallon ) for about 15 bucks. Any Office supply store should have it. Hope this helps.

  • .

@FroggyVector Hi Froggy. This is a great tip. I made a hood scoop from foam and used saran wrap to keep the resin off of the form but the fumes still damaged the form. I tried elmers glue because of your post and it worked great. The elmers protected the form from direct resin, resin fumes and doubled as a mold release in the end. Some elmers remained in the fiberglass scoop but a soak in water dissolved the glue and a hose shot it out. Thanks loads for the info!

  • hi i am trying to make a cupcake about two feet tall would this work for this i just want to use it for my daughters birthday for photos and decor? if u have any advice or ideas i would greatly appreciate it, or do u sell things like this?

  • If you want to make a giant prop an keep it cheap, carved styro foam is the way to go. We also offer a water based coating that is a bit more economical than resin.

  • These are cool

  • Another good video, thank you for these.

  • will bondo brand resin work

  • No. It has a solvent in it that will disolve styro foam.

  • Would this work on cardboard?

  • All but the hot knife carving part.

  • Lol. Darn that was the part I was looking for forward to. Thanks.

  • Another great video from Brickintheyard, You should show an update of how your new shop is looking with all these great metal decor.
