  • CIGARETTES% BEER COMMERCIAL WERE SOON BAN OFF THE AIR..

  • "We are Flintstones cigs...ten million sick and dying....."

  • Wow, I am assuming that they targeted kids and teens in these ads...

  • @GMasis001

Well, Flintstones were played in the evening when they came out. It was considered a family show. Not all cartoons then were targetted just to kids then. There were lots of references in the show to then-modern advertising, like radio jingles and such. There were other commercials promoting other adult products, like clothes detergent, and cleaning products.

  • It's quite unbelievable to see a popular cartoon promoting cigarette smoking.

My Uncle smoked Winson's for about 30 years. He has stage 4 throat and lung cancer now.

  • cigarettes

  • I miss those days when adults could be adults. This hurt nothing.

  • @shakedownstreet48 u are soooo right!

  • Gawd we were really that stupid.........

  • I eat the Flintstone vitamins, it tastes better than the other shit.

  • And they complained about Joe Camel??

  • Shouldn't it be Winstone?

  • Remember the Flintstones episode where Fred opens his front door to leave and a car comes driving thru and out the back and he says "darned drunk drivers!"

They just prepared us for real life...

  • LOL the way it should be

  • PC has ruined this great country of ours. I can see November 2012 from my front stoop.

  • @Spindriftful Wow, what a clueless, jejune view of life you have. PC is the ultimate problem this country has? I'd say I'm addressing it right now.

  • Hilarious! Lazy Husbands kicking back and smoking while their wives do all of the work, lol

  • yea i saw this so i picked up smoking..i saw the vitamins and crushed them up and snorted them......

  • how old is that commercial

  • this was a childrens show right?

  • LOL I REMEMBER THIS xDDDD

    AND I SMOKE WINSTON xD

  • Barney and Fred went at the back to hide to smoke some cigs?? what else do you have in your pocket Barney? pot? crack?

  • Reminds me of other old commercials, like Smurfs for Smith & Wesson, or Scooby Doo for Hustler, or Super Friends for crack!

  • Cigarettes is spelled incorrectly in your title.

  • wow winston cigaretts 2 children vitamens hahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheDangergirl35 dont worry in 10 years they will find out that vitamins causes HIV or sumthin

  • Boy...you would NEVER see a commercial like that on TV today. Guys smoking, women doing yard work. The anti-smoking nuts and the feminist crazies would have a field day.

These days...the only acceptable commercials have to feature men as stupid, imbeciles.

  • @gerrythrash right? wheres the masculanists us men shud be holdin ralleys and blockin traffic and wasting everyones time and shouting at people across the street and not doing our jobs damn feminists

  • Tastes good as a .. brown sugar .. should - Was this some inspiration for the Rolling Stones? For more inspirational print ads, kindly take a look at my clip "Crazy Sixties Advertising Show"

  • It was a different time. Winston bought all the major advertising for one night a week on ABC, and required all programs to feature their characters smoking Winston cigarettes, including the Flintstones.

  • I'm not offended, just a little...unnerved. It's weird when you see your favorite cartoon characters do something you don't expect, like encourage smoking. It won't keep me up at night, though.

  • It's a darn shame they didn't peddle condoms...

  • wow, an this is how it all began LOL! smoke up hu freddy!

  • This was made late 50' or early 60's. Ran when I was a kid in the 1960's. Didn't pay much attention to it back then . There were a lot of commercials like this.

  • Before the banned cigarette commercials.

  • lol, different times xD

Just wish I were around to see them...

  • THAT'S why I smoke today, the Flinstones made me start smoking!!!

  • @77jamieclark yea im not wastin 5 bucks on a pack of smokes. all your doin is watchin your money go up in smoke. smoking is a waste of money

  • YES, Wilma n Betty working thier sexy asses off, so lets go grab a smoke!-LMAO!

  • America's gone soft. I don't smoke, but still pple get offended easily these days.

  • this is just shameful.

  • hmmmm.... ill stick with their vitamins

  • @OddlyInclined Ha, ha. Me too; at least they tasted good. :-)

  • talk about morals! lol

  • LMAO no wonder my dad started smoking in elementary school

  • Now they sell vitamins xD

  • Simpler Times. Americans weren't offended as easily back then

  • Back in the days when Cigarette companies were allowed to advertise their products, before the media became nazis.

Now we're flooded with stupid anti-smoking propoganda... those "no stank you" propoganda ads are just fucking retarded.

  • FUNNY

  • Smoke 'em if ya got 'em.

  • Does anyone know what year this commercial was made?

  • 1961

  • Fred and Barney secretly grew pot and their wives had a prostitution ring.

  • this is sad.....

  • it is truly sad, i say ban tobacco, legalize marijuana:), and wilkes85 it's because of those kinds of commercials that i have seen 7 years kids smoking. if u are gonna have lung cancer, would u still find the commercial funny? Oh i forgot, you are an american, u have the right to have lung cancer:), good 4 u m8. God bless u!

  • Later that night, Betty and Wilma had a 9-to-5-style pot party and fantasized about fun ways to kill their insufferable husbands.

  • wow that was funny yet disturbuing.

  • They need to keep those bitches in line though...

  • unbelievably funny

  • Gee Fred while were back here, while don't we smoke this joint I have on me. ah hee hee hee.

I knew there was a reason why Barney was so happy all the time.

I could have blamed Fred and Barney for my smoking addiction. Oh well I haven't had one for five years now.

  • Well, it may SEEM weird that Fred and Barney are smoking. But remember, The Flintstones was originally aimed at adult audiences.

  • Don't forget, smoking was "cool" back then.

  • as it is now.

    :P

  • is this commerical real?

  • Really interesting to see this. It shows how much attitudes have changed in relation to things like using cute characters to advertise smoking. I think many people forget that us oldies simply wern't told about the dangers of Tobacco, and the Ad campaigns were fierce and enticing. It is good that all that has been stopped and the public is better informed.

  • Smoking never hurt Barnie or Fred

  • They'd never dare show this on TV today.

  • would never fly today they could be pushing smoking on kids

  • It worked on me.

    "cough, gasp.'

  • lol

  • thats when America was great what ever happen to day gone bye weeks and months and now years until we reach to the present where all the puss gathers up into one big super black head ready to explode freedom from its corroded arteries.

  • Yabbadabbadoooooo!! (cough cough)

  • Well....that's a interesting video

  • si pedro pikapiedra dice k fume, lo hare, jejejeje, good video!

  • It's so weird to see The Flintstones pushing cigarettes! I feel violated! And dirty! LOL! Honestly, it does seem really creepy to see them smoking and hocking cigarettes.

  • Winston co-sponsored "THE FLINTSTONES" during its first two seasons (1960-'62)- it was the custom for the cast to deliver an "integrated" commercial for the sponsor at the end of the episode.....

  • Every time a doctor tells me to stop smoking I remind that Fred and Barney told me it was OK.

  • Freakin good 'ol days!

  • And now they sell vitamins!

  • hahahahaha so true.

  • @NihilNominis childrens vitamins !!! haha

  • The BEST commercial ever made!! LOLOL!

  • I don't think kids should be smoking, but it's time that we stopped being afraid to say certain things. TV should not dictate anyone's values, although they do form about 99% of 99% of the peoples values, and they don't even realize it. Bottom line, think for yourself, and don't be afraid to say what the thought police say is "politically incorrect"

  • It's an abomination! Compromising the Flintstones like that...

  • Don't forget, when the FLintstones first was shown on tv, it was at night and for adults. it wasn't a kids show yet.. not till reruns

  • Times have really changed. Can you imagine us have the power puff girls selling marlboro's !!!

  • thats sad

  • this would be so illegal!!!! that that- omg!!. oh well. I like cigarettes

  • ok!!!! this ad is dodge lol

  • lol, i love old stuff
