in the UK we have a 1.9 diesel version, they wipe the 1.8 astras, with a tuning box my astra does 150mph and its a diesel! if your from america, search Vauxhall astra VXR or Vauxhall vectra VXR they do 160mph, 2.0 turbo Z20let engines. good luck importing one guys

NIce video. I have an XE but the same engine, and was thinking about doing the same thing. I was just wondering if the filter was specifically for the car or was it just a universal 3" K&N filter? I don't want any engine problems in the near future because of some filter, thanks.

@bigin260 Just search for Opel / Vauxhall Astra performance parts. Theres loads of them. You can even get a turbo kit for this engine, producing 250 bhp.

yes it does, it does need a sixth gear and i think it would top out at the 160mph.

I heard but the price to get one here in the states is too high. Not even that what if they dont match with the 1.8 engine, over in europe they 1.8 is the smallest engine.

here in Europe the smallest engine in Astra is 1.6 16V, with 116 HP, top of the line is OPC version which is 2.0 TURBO with 241 HP.

Actually the smallest engines are 1.3 diesel and 1.4 petrol.

as an ex saturn tech the only problem i ewver had with this car was its lack of performance.... this car could benefit from a few more ponies and they need a redline version maybe a turbo add on to the 1.8 it already has a little better exhaust and its set!! so the question is who will be the first...

I think the car is goverened at 115-120 cause i hit 115 in my car and it was taking forever to push it even a little bit more, and this was on a flat road.

i hadmine going 125 and ran out of road. maybe if i add some HP gains to it i can see what it really tops out at

intake volume (sound) is louder, for some you can hear your rpms better. But, very little power increase mainly at on demand acceleration.

It's not limited at 106. I've gone over 100 before, downhill unfortunately. But, I would say about 120 is te governed limit.

Maybe I drive my car harder but I didn't have to go down hill or have a air filter on my 3door Astra Xr to get past 120 there was no limit the only problem our gears are rather short but sounds nice ^^

yes. it is a factory exhaust. the sound is coming from the intake.
