Citroen cars are amazing !! I had a dog of a vw golf bought new!! It spent more time in the dealership garage than on the road changed to a c4 coupe one of the best looking cars on the road today!!
Also, a Citroen car is a great way to say "F . CK" to everybody, on 3 or 4 wheels.(also fuel consumption rapport is 1 to 3 beetween a Citroën DS and a Big Block pony car) . I just regret to haven't that CHIPS episode in english, the french caricature is too funny ! Olivier from France.
Pax, friends, Why compare muscle cars with a DS ? no way. big 'Tangs, Dodge Chargers or AMX, are undestructibles and have plenty of fun, virility, magic noise and ability to burn their rear tires, and to go from 0 to 60 mph in 7-9 sec. A DS is not very nervous, its tin is realy light sheet, good meal for rust, its fragile plastic handles broke in the hands, but the best on small curved roads with lots of steer turning. (to be continued)
My dad had a DS & we drove on 3 wheels more than once because he was thrifty and didn't always carry a spare tire. On vacations we'd pass a car & then they'd get in front of us again. It seems there are folks who don't like being behind a foreign car. The old man lived for those moments, he'd put the pedal down & that 4 cylinder engine would wind up & we'd be going 120 mph & the other guy would be left in the dust. Us kids were always nice tho, we always waved as we went by them.
So, why the big 3 (Ford, GM, Crhysler), are broked???? I never see a yankee car, turns, brake, (make everything good), in my life... A mustang GT500 in Nordscheife, is 5 seg slower than a Lancia Fulvia fanalone.... With 300 HP less...
well agree to disagree I suppose haha. If everyone had the same opinion things wouldn't be right. i just think the car is extremely ugly. sure its probably very balanced and classy. i'm not here to brag about american ingenuity but take the time to drive a dodge charger or Plymouth super-bee and trust me, you will love the roar of the engine and its speed.i mean in the long run isn't that what cars are about? Going fast so you don't have to walk hehe. and if i offended any of you i apologize

You silly Europeans are all about sleek, innovative, efficient shit. the brakes and aerodynamics in a ford are always better? someones asking for a flame war lol "runs for the hills. haha I loved how the guy is poking the cop, Try and stick your finger on a cops chest now days, lol quick way to end-up with a knee pushing your face into the ground!

this video is dubbed you fucking frenchies. read the police officers lips. they are un-synchronised. and to the DS and mustang guy. a mustang you beat the living shit outta a citroen in a race. also the brakes and aerodynamics in a ford are always better. hell fords been in business for over a century.
the day when ford is better than citroen pigs will have flown long time ago, buddy. drove several citroens and one ford mondeo and one ford fiesta. mondeo was slow as a cow and petrol consuming, bad air-conditioning, turbo broke after 2000 miles. fiesta had nothing in its guts and smelt bad like plastic since day one. citroen were always a pleasure, especially XM and Xsara - very well balanced. and for you information, citroen ALSO has been in business for over a century even before ford.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
yeah NO... cars were only around for 125 years(1885). fords been around since 1900 and pioneered the first car ever. I'd like to see a Citroen do 160 mph with a 6 liter V8 engine. cars in america are about muscle, speed and beauty. this one represents ugly classic contemporary piece of crap slow/ugly designed cars. the frenchies really messed up when they made this disgrace to god. fucking cock suckers are mad at americans even though we saved em' in ww2 I dont know why they hold a grudge.
sorry, you were right about the timeline. You seem to hold grudges... anyway, have you evere drove a citroen to indulge yourself in such comments? apparently not, since you think american cars are about muscle, speed etc. you really make me laugh. please read bratattack5's first phrase (lower on this page) and please do not bother to answer my reply, we obviously have quite different opinions on the matter. thank you
@TheLonelyLumberJack You are clueless. Ford did not pioneer, it was Karl Benz. The only thing Ford did right was the assembly line.
The DS was a breakthrough in handling, ride comfort, safety, economy, styling and technical art that the conservative american brands could only dream about. Where the american WW2 aircraft were almost as technical advanced as the german, the cars were terribly old fashioned under the bonnet until the 21st century.
@flexyco I realize that, Germany made the horseless carriage(NOT A CAR) with 1hp in 1885. Sure it was useless and slow, but it was a breakthrough. I'm just saying 'we' made the FIRST PRACTICAL CAR that actually had over 10 horsepower and had a roof, could haul loads, and had head lights. This was 1905. Nobody had invented a conventional car except for us yet.(Model T). Hell, we made the industrial rev. Also just saying, Europe is always fighting over efficiency which is a factor too.
@TheLonelyLumberJack True, a thirst for efficiency often kills style. It's not always the case however. Actually the DS is a very american car, much more than it's european contemporaries. Most of us Citroën drivers would like to own an old (60's or 70's) american car for the smoothness of the ride coupled with the mighty rumble of a V8. The only thing we don't like is the handling, Citroëns have an equal or better smooth ride but far superior roadholding, due to the hydropneumatic suspension.
@flexyco Well yes, I understand exactly what you are saying :D. In muscle cars, the frame and suspension is very rumbly when driving so it depends on the drivers style.(if you like cars that vibrate alot haha) For a smooth country ride, of course, I would love a DS most likely because of it's relaxing stability and suspension :D
I love French cars.Citroens remind me of U.F.O's.They zoom past effortlessly leaving most Americans slack jawed. The Serie Maserati still looks like it just dropped in out of the future.
Yep,the SM,eternal lust object. All were very rare here in the States.Oddly though,I've seen more SM's here than DS.Only DS I ever saw was a 72 Pallas my dad's colleague had.
Gawd bless 'merica and their lack of European understanding. "yes officer that's right. This Citroen from Europe will unlike your Mustang, go around corners very ast on 3 or 4 wheels".
