  • Making me quite emotional. Miss my childhood man!

  • I used to watch this as a kid. Im now 35 and still cant get this tune out of my head!!! The theme tune is so fantastic and it was a great programme too. Theres not many programmes I think about as an adult but I still think of this one regularly, and its all because of the great music!

  • thank you. awesome post!

  • I loved this show as a kid & is like a childrens black adder too!

  • From 1989 (in case you can't read the Roman numerals at the end).

  • Used to watch this all the time as child, what memories.

  • This has been my ringtone for 4 years now. Still not bored of it.

  • Oh my! I haven't seen or heard this since it was on tv when I was a kid, but as soon as 'Maaaaariaaan!' started up I was able to sing along with nearly all the words!

  • wow. Its so true, as the comments have stated, kids tv is so poor nowadays, we were very priveledged to watch shows like this, they gave us morals, humor and an amazing cast. nowadays kids have...... i dunno, when it got to gadget boy and heather i stopped caring :)

  • Just saw someone shouting marrion on crimewatch in a Reconstruction, so naturally I thought of this on you tube, warped maybe? :P

  • I grew up near Worksop... it's gone down hill over the centuries.

  • Us 90s kids were spoiled rotten, weren't we?

  • Comment removed

  • wait Danny John-Jules was on this?? How did I never know? lol

  • @pur33vil

Not 100% sure, but I THINK he sings the theme tune too :)

  • I bought the complete series on DVD it's awesome this was one of my favourites in primary school and also Ghostwriter on DVD they don't make quality kids shows the way they used too! I feel sorry for the next gen kids getting such junk for kids shows.

  • It's been 15 years since I heard this tune.

    Ah, memories!

  • Did anyone just come straight here after buying Total Film magazine? There have been 39 Robin Hood films, plus televisised productions, but this is the only one of Marian! I can't believe I'd forgotton this... the peasants, her hair, Tony Robinson... you're right, kids these days are missing out.

  • You don't too many theme songs as good as this.

  • one of my fav shows when i was a teen

dont make em like this is a cliche but it does apply....loved the one where the peasant "snooker" invented a table top game with coloured balls....and the one where they did a crystal maze game......oh how my mind is full of useless but great memories...haha

  • So many kids shows these days treat them like...well..moronic babies with iq levels below 10, who only appreciate pretty colours and the most ridiculous jokes.

Maid Marian was a fantastic show, i still enjoy it today. It was written very, very well.

  • the early 90s had loads of fantastic kids shows but this was one of the best. I used to love watching thsi when i came home from school!!

  • aww wow this takes me back!! we had great stuff when we were kids, always remembered the words to this song!!

  • my god I loved this, im a kid again! awesome...

  • Ha ha ha when I saw this lol the words came straight back to me pmsl x x x ohhhhhh the memorys

  • haha i rember this now

  • This was the best thing ever on TV!!!

  • What a great show this was!

  • I didn't know it was on G.O.L.D! Oh how I wish I had that channel! Damn freeview!

  • Marian's rival rose had big tits! thats why i watched it ! just tellin it like it is.

  • lol it makes a change seeing bladrick playing a blackadderesque character in this showin he can be just as good as mr bean

  • Started showing it on Sky channel G.O.L.D. today 11th August 2009. I'm 52 now and me and my kids loved it all those years ago and after watching it again today (twice!) I know why.

  • Typical I can't get that channel :( :( it is such a fantastic show!

  • Yeah saw it to going to be tuning in every day to. lol seing today made me listen to this.

  • they dont make'em like this anymore. This is a classic and i agree that kids shows today are poor in comparison.I notice i never see kids out playing these days, stuck in on the computer they must be because kids TV is'nt up to much.

  • Not just nostalgia speaking here, but I reckon kids are cheated these days. I remember my parents rushing home from work to see shows like this, as well as myself and my sister being glued too. Now, as a 32-year-old, I see very few kids' shows (if any really) that even tempt my attention, let alone raise it!

  • I agree, i remember watching brilliant programmes like this and being interested in the stories and then reading the books, like Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe and The Midnight Garden. The CBBC channel is pathetic, they have no drama serials for children, only stupid gameshows. There's a lack of good childrens writers, its very sad

  • I don't think it's that there's a lack of good childrens' writers anymore, as they are out there, it's more along the lines there isn't funding for them to do so anymore. No one wants to spend time and money for someone to write something decent. These crappy gameshows are quick, easy, and cheap to produce so they keep knocking them out, and children have no choice but to watch it, not knowing any better.

  • I agree with that, but Maid Marian was a cut above the rest when it was first made too.

  • @gavinpow77 Agreed

  • @gavinpow77 There is horrible histories, but that's probably the only exception to that, all other ids shows are atrocious

  • and baldrick lol

  • THE BEST LIVE ACTION KIDS PROGRAM EVER no arguments

i mean come on cat from red dwarf was on it ffs lol

  • This rocked!!!! Marion was kick ass!

  • sweet miss the 90s

  • This used to be on fridays after school, such a funny show. good theme tune too

  • OMg i still know all the words! i used to love this i still have videos of this show at home!!!

  • ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE!!! thankyou so much for postxxx

  • haa samee

  • Another truly underated kids show with very adult humour at the base of the show, much of which i was too young to pick up 1st time round.

Brilliant show though, one of the best there was after Grange Hill

  • Right there. I got the DVD box set for Christmas, and was quite surprised by the number of jokes which went over my head when I was a kid.

  • Its so kewl tho as they release loads on dvd and bit torrent sites if you want to download etc, i put all my stuff on dvd or buy the dvds, such as super ted, grot bag, this, sooty, jimbo, super gran, dog tanian and all the other fantastic 100s of superb cartoons and programmes we had as kids, for my kids :o) I aint letting them suffer with the shit they have on tv today for them no way, they gonna have the good stuff like we had :o)

  • CBBC Used to get people to ring in and sing along at the end

  • OMG!!!! theme tune was ACE!!!! Lovin the gospal sound!!.x.

  • Oh my god!The song was even better than i remembered!Just showing my brother and sister what thier generation missed out on! Bring back childrens TV like this cause I think if i see anymore boring shite like bloody shitting crap crappity 'Bratz' I am going to vomit!!!How can kids watch that bollocks!?Bratz is absolutly wank!Shitting pissy stupid Bratz.
