The train part actually looks kinda fun. But it doesn`t look like a sequel to Phantom Hourglass sadly. If Nintendo ever make a sequel to that game it will probably be in a year or two.
Glad to see Nintendo is putting something new again. Im still a bit disappointed that they aren't planning on bringing Cel-shaded Zelda on a big console anymore, but still happy to see it's living up on the DS. Can't wait to see how it'll turn out.

I was a little weirded out by the train thing at first. It looks like an interesting concept however. Also to those wishing for another Zelda Wii game, it's very possible that one will come out in the next year or so. Almost all the Nintentendo consoles to date have had 2 Zelda titles for them. N64 = Ocarina, Majora's Mask, Gamecube = Wind Waker, Twilight Princess(not sure if it really counts though.) So be hopeful.

I don't think adding a train is making it modern at all. The boats in Phantom Hourglass were steam driven (I think) like the train in this game and there have been train carts in the zelda series for a while.
Well Link and Tetra were trying to make a new hyrule after windwaker I guess they must have found it if this is a sequal I probably won't care if it isn't... its a zelda game they haven't made one yet that i haven't like so i'll give them the benifit of the doubt for now hopefully its as epic as it prequals!!!!!!!!!
koji kondo, one of my fav vgm composers, has always been one of the things i look forward to with the series though lately it seems additional composers have been collaborating. i would like to hear new tunes, hopefully not the 'pirate' esque stuff, i'm just say'in because they still got the ww style goin, but yea diff theme i guess as for the train i wasn't expecting it and it does sound dull on text its safe to atleast say it won't be a bad game, the ol' zelda formula looks intact.

No one knows if this is the sequel to WW and PH yet, even though it has the same graphics and gameplay mechanics like PH.
This could take place a 100 years after Link and Tetra (Zelda) found land, and their descendants carry on the story. Or this could just be a whole new story entirely for all we know.
When I first saw the trailer, I was slightly surprised that there was a train in a Zelda game but I wasn't all "ZOMGWTFTHISZUX!".
Besides, didn't PH used a steam powered boat? Majoras Mask and Wind Waker also had cameras (which wasn't invented 'till around the 1830s) yet no one had a problem with that.

I mean come on, in Majora's mask, I think most of the masks are Quite interesting and plus you get to challange the bosses as much as you please. Isn't that cool or what? the Wind waker, dispise the cartoon grapics, the game turned out to be as fun as the other zelda games. (and plus it makes up for alot of Humor in it in many ways)

Why on DS? It's simple... They need time to create the BIG FINAL for one of the 2 current time lines on Wii. Zelda and Link are looking for the new Hyrule. Apparently, a lot of commentors are ticked off that there's another Toon Link game on DS, what they don't understand is that there are two different Zelda teams, one for Wii, one for DS, the DS Zelda is just coming out first. There IS a Wii Zelda being developed now by the other Zelda team.
Even though some people may not be happy about the train, I think it will be an awesome new thing in Zelda.
Everyone got all hyped up about cel-shaded graphics in WW but that turned out to be one of the best Zelda games ever, (Behing OOT and Twilight Princess of course...)

Man, I was really hoping that the new DS Zelda would step itself up by going 3D, instead of using 3D poligonal characters with a 2D perspective.
But then again, if Nintendo can put some sweet ideas into this game, which don't make it feel like a regurgitation of Phantom Hourglass, then it might turn out to be pretty good.

Phantom Hourglass was a direct sequel to Wind Waker, and by the looks of Spirit Tracks, it doesn't look like a sequel to Wind Waker, just the same art style, just like Minish Cap!

I'm fairly certain that the next game (Not Spirit Tracks, but the one for the Wii) will have the "mature" graphics. Nintendo seems to be taking the route where the handheld games are more lighthearted, while the console games are more mature-like.
You just gave me an idea. I bet that the DS Legend of Zelda games are going to feature Link away from Hyrule (example: Majoras Mask and Links Awakening) whilst the Wii Legend of Zelda ganes are going to feature Link within Hyrule, at some different time peroid, obviously.

However, I can't really agree with you on Twilight Princess. It had a good story at best (Enjoyable), while the bosses were fun and sort of daunting. To me, atleast.
True, it isn't as memorable as some of the older Zelda games, like Ocarina of Time- "Wow! The first 3D Zelda!" With Twilight Princess, we really just got a game made from an existing game engine... which doesn't mean it's bad, but it's not as good, either.
I can't say I disagree because it is true, Wind Waker was the stepping stone to get the childish, more stylized version of Link on the throne. They achieved it by putting an incredibly intriguing storyline.
But still, DAMN those Twilight Princess bosses were kiddy! I felt I was playing with Hot Wheels and Action Man with my hands! NO GOOD!

Funny, I have the cube version and it's T rated. I honestly belive it was more E10+. but whatever, i'm still exited for Spirit Tracks. the Wind Waker trilogy has always been my favorite (considering it got me into Zelda xD)
Not scary. But very reminicent of bosses from other Zeldas. Wind Waker is AMAZING, in my opinion. I loved the Chibi-esque graphics. It plays similar to Twilight Princess.

This IS an actual Zelda game. It doesn't matter if it's for the Wii, DS, or whatever- hell, for all we know, they might release Zelda Wii through WiiWare.

I suppose the Wind Waker series will continue on its own path of high accessibility, low difficulty, graphics I may not find desirable, and motion-controlled gameplay. Provided Nintendo releases Zelda Wii within a couple years, I don't have too much to complain about.
the most important thing that will make me get this game or not is whether or not you can control link with the d-pad or if its only touch screen well actually ill probably buy it then get a rom of it and flashcard so i can use a cheat to make moving with d-pad possible like with phantom hourglass but still

I can't wait for this, but when will they give us a Wii Zelda? They need to give us an innovative, new Zelda with some voice acting a radically different story. So far only Majora's Mask had a good, different story.

No. Wind Waker was not a good game, and the graphics make me sick. I'm holding my stomach down for the moment. Why they keep using this scheme, I may never no. Twilight Princess should be continued, graphically, I mean. TP had great graphics, the best for the Wii that I have seen. It's a nice break from the cartoonish bullshit I've seen. Don't tell me to go and just play Xbox or what ever. MAKE MORE WII GAMES WITH NO CARTOONYNESS.
While I agree that Wind Waker wasn't a very impressive game, you should not judge a game on it's look. It's a very close-minded and shallow thing that will ultimately keep you from enjoying lots of potentially great games. If non saturated colors are what make you hate a game then I believe you need to rethink how you critique games in general.
Just because a game has cartoon graphics doesn't mean the graphics are bad. Look at Team Fortress 2, look at GTA: Chinatown Wars, look at any of the other countless cartoony games. Why do you hate cartoony so much? Mario, Donkey Kong, Kirby, they're all cartoony. They're all great games. In my opinion, cartoon graphics make a game much more enjoyable than realistic graphics, because they immerse you into a TOTALLY different world, where everything looks different.

Why on DS? It's simple... They need time to create the BIG FINAL for one of the 2 current time lines on Wii. Zelda and Link are looking for the new Hyrule. (and also Miyamoto said, maybe, soon he will be taking off from Nintento. He cannot be there for ever, he said. He needs to rest and do other personal things.

The Spirit tracks? Haunted railways? o.o;; I'll rent it if it's actually real and is coming out, but there's no way I'm pre-ordering it.
I wonder if they're slowly trying to bring Zelda into the modern ages? Miyamoto did say TP would be the last of it's kind. I wonder if that's what he meant by it.

I know why people were giving me beef, but I was just stating my opinion, like everyone else... I was just a bit more..... heart felt? What ever. I don't give you a -7 on your comments for stating your beliefs. Also, Mario and Donkey Kong have to many spin offs. Baseball is pushing it. If they go to American football, the Mario(?) team is loosing some of their writers. Anyways Zelda = :D so, I can't say that this game will be total fail, but I don't expect much from it.

they are making a game for teh wii of zelda. it has been definatly confirmed. this game means there are two zelda games in the making. spirit tracks will tide us over until wii zelda!!

Apparently, a lot of commentors are ticked off that there's another Toon Link game on DS, what they don't understand is that there are two different Zelda teams, one for Wii, one for DS, the DS Zelda is just coming out first. There IS a Wii Zelda being developed now by the other Zelda team.

Man, I can't wait...
Even though some people may not be happy about the train, I think it will be an awesome new thing in Zelda.
Everyone got all hyped up about cel-shaded graphics in WW but that turned out to be one of the best Zelda games ever, (Behing OOT and Twilight Princess of course...)

3 things I want from this game:
More dungeons, no repeat visits to one dungeon crap.
More items, just look at the other hand held zelda item selections.
Higher difficulty, I never died in PH, I didn't even come close to 1 heart.

Man, I was really hoping that the new DS Zelda would step itself up by going 3D, instead of using 3D poligonal characters with a 2D perspective.
But then again, if Nintendo can put some sweet ideas into this game, which don't make it feel like a regurgitation of Phantom Hourglass, then it might turn out to be pretty good.
Who knows? We'll just have to wait and see.
From the looks of it, Link could be a delivery boy using a train.
I wonder what his connection to Princess Zelda is?

Because the Princess Zelda in this game looks exactly like the Princess Zelda from Windwaker, then could this game be considered a sequel from Windwaker, just like Phantom Hourglass is?

Phantom Hourglass was a direct sequel to Wind Waker, and by the looks of Spirit Tracks, it doesn't look like a sequel to Wind Waker, just the same art style, just like Minish Cap!

The current director of the Zelda games is making the franchise really kiddy; I miss the older director, the one who directed the Ocarine of Time.
Then again; Nintendo can't look back in the past because its fan base an earnings will go down.

I'm fairly certain that the next game (Not Spirit Tracks, but the one for the Wii) will have the "mature" graphics. Nintendo seems to be taking the route where the handheld games are more lighthearted, while the console games are more mature-like.

You just gave me an idea. I bet that the DS Legend of Zelda games are going to feature Link away from Hyrule (example: Majoras Mask and Links Awakening) whilst the Wii Legend of Zelda ganes are going to feature Link within Hyrule, at some different time peroid, obviously.

I sincerely don't care about graphics as long as the game is enjoyable to play. To prove it; let's look at the Masterpiece of Twilight Princess.
Twilight Princess disappointed me for several factors:
-Link's dependence on other characters. = It reduced link's reputation of being a hero.
-Shallow storyline. = It is not very intriguing, and it was explained at the last moments.
-Very childish and easy bosses. = They might as well be bosses for "Banjo and Kazooie."

Lol, same here. I don't care much for the graphics, as long as they don't make me want to gouge my eye out with a stick.
However, I can't really agree with you on Twilight Princess. It had a good story at best (Enjoyable), while the bosses were fun and sort of daunting. To me, atleast.

True, it isn't as memorable as some of the older Zelda games, like Ocarina of Time- "Wow! The first 3D Zelda!" With Twilight Princess, we really just got a game made from an existing game engine... which doesn't mean it's bad, but it's not as good, either.

I can't say I disagree because it is true, Wind Waker was the stepping stone to get the childish, more stylized version of Link on the throne. They achieved it by putting an incredibly intriguing storyline.
But still, DAMN those Twilight Princess bosses were kiddy! I felt I was playing with Hot Wheels and Action Man with my hands! NO GOOD!

Funny, I have the cube version and it's T rated. I honestly belive it was more E10+. but whatever, i'm still exited for Spirit Tracks. the Wind Waker trilogy has always been my favorite (considering it got me into Zelda xD)

Not scary. But very reminicent of bosses from other Zeldas. Wind Waker is AMAZING, in my opinion. I loved the Chibi-esque graphics. It plays similar to Twilight Princess.
Honestly, I think it's better than Ocarina of Time. That's saying something, since it was my favorite, until Wind Waker came.

Wind Waker was an amazing, huge adventure. That game is like another world i was so hooked into it when i was playing it. still own it til this day, one of them games you dont get rid of.

am I the only one not particularly pleased with this? I believed Termina was the apex of technology in the Zelda universe. This... this simply is not Zelda.
I suppose the Wind Waker series will continue on its own path of high accessibility, low difficulty, graphics I may not find desirable, and motion-controlled gameplay. Provided Nintendo releases Zelda Wii within a couple years, I don't have too much to complain about.

the most important thing that will make me get this game or not is whether or not you can control link with the d-pad or if its only touch screen well actually ill probably buy it then get a rom of it and flashcard so i can use a cheat to make moving with d-pad possible like with phantom hourglass but still

Wow, the first thing I thought about when I heard the train was Layton (2nd game). This is crazy, and Zelda looked funny.
I can't wait for this, but when will they give us a Wii Zelda? They need to give us an innovative, new Zelda with some voice acting a radically different story. So far only Majora's Mask had a good, different story.

No. Wind Waker was not a good game, and the graphics make me sick. I'm holding my stomach down for the moment. Why they keep using this scheme, I may never no. Twilight Princess should be continued, graphically, I mean. TP had great graphics, the best for the Wii that I have seen. It's a nice break from the cartoonish bullshit I've seen. Don't tell me to go and just play Xbox or what ever. MAKE MORE WII GAMES WITH NO CARTOONYNESS.

While I agree that Wind Waker wasn't a very impressive game, you should not judge a game on it's look. It's a very close-minded and shallow thing that will ultimately keep you from enjoying lots of potentially great games. If non saturated colors are what make you hate a game then I believe you need to rethink how you critique games in general.

Just because a game has cartoon graphics doesn't mean the graphics are bad. Look at Team Fortress 2, look at GTA: Chinatown Wars, look at any of the other countless cartoony games. Why do you hate cartoony so much? Mario, Donkey Kong, Kirby, they're all cartoony. They're all great games. In my opinion, cartoon graphics make a game much more enjoyable than realistic graphics, because they immerse you into a TOTALLY different world, where everything looks different.
