It's cool and all, but the kind of agility those bionic arms on Star Wars or the Auto Mail on Full Metal Alchemist is what I'm looking for. Not some slow working home use only piece of metal. And IF they do make it out on the battle field, they really gotta work on how fast the robotics go. I is not pleased. T_T
As a prosthetist, this is very exciting. This awful war has driven our government to fund research that was lacking before. Of course this product will be available to only a select few, but with a bilateral amputee (both arms missing), this will change their lives for the better. The prices will eventually go down and be available to others as well. That is the trend that new technology follows. By the way, the cable systems are not all that bad either. They were showing old worn out arms
Yeah, meanwhile we're working on the technology to blow limbs off with greater efficiency. How about a technological solution from the Pentagon to stop them from creating amputees in the first place?
How on earth do videos like this slip through the cracks on youtube and receive hardy any attention, it just blows my mind. The question that crosses my mind when I see medical tech like this is how much will it cost? Will poor people still have the hook while the rich get bionic limbs?

If these things ran on oil they'd be 24.99 at walmart.

"Like what?" (She ACTUALLY pressed him on it.)
"Pick up a banana."
I'm sorry but I just keep thinking of that episode of Red Dwarf where Lister loses his hand.

...but like everything else "medical" the people who need it won't be able to afford it. ...and down the spiral we go.

Me too! It was during the FIRST Championship in 2007. I had my operator button signed by him.

This is truly amazing. Thats about all I can say and I love robotics, like lasercat10cc said, I never thought I would see this in my lifetime. :)

Kamen is awesome. It's amazing how he started out inventing a pump for diabetics as a kid. American ingenuity is still alive and strong
