hi there i used to breed budgies and starting again, budgies are a colony, like wise are sparrows n starlings , there for the more  pairs of budgies you have, this stimulates , them into breeding, if u have only a small amount of space, for only 1 pair, best thing to do is tape budgie sounds, so into thinking that theres more than that pair..hope this helps..also bring them into condition , give them cuttle fish , iodine , blocks , and sometimes dandylion leaves.. tel mac 01282-429282

Buggies mate for life. If you got them from a pet store and they already mated with other birds there, then it is very unlikely for them to mate.

Does one show interest and other runs away?

Hi, yea will the eggs from my birds, were no good said Doctor, and he said to through away, because the eggs were not going to hatch, they needed to be solid egg, but ask a Vet in your area I don't know sorry.

I HAVE 8 BUDGIES FOR NOW AND I KNOW BY HARD WHCH ON IS A GIRL AND WHICH ONE IS A BOY. A budgie with a dark brown bic (mouth) is a girl a budgie with a light brown bic(mouth) is a boy. Your budgie is so cute :D

@Ridhwanpop Actually thats false. You cannot tell by the colour of their beak, but by the cere (the bit around their nostrils). If it is blue then its a boy, if its brown then it is a girl. Unless you have a lighter colour budgie (like Felfel above) it which case it is a pinky, purple if its a boy and brown if it is a girl.

@itktdf yes you could because when I brought it the Pet Store said we can tell it by which one is a boy or girl and they said light brown is a boy and a dark brown beak is a girl the Pet Store Bird Catcher even told me that and gave me a book for Budgie's and I studied it so hard so don't screw up my study

they can actually be a range of colour like when they are young the males cere is pink and the females is blueish when they are older the males still can be brown its confusing i know but the most reliable way to do it is to go to the vest and they put a camera up their vents and see if its a boy or a girl as males do not have penisis and the testicles are internal

It's amazing how the other eggs get hatched with the mom moving around so much. You would think the remaining eggs won't get enough heat to hatch.

these ones, did not hatch, because they were not fertile. (her first eggs with her husband:))

But after, in next few months we had 12 chicks flying all over the place. (what a mess) And now I simply replace the eggs with old unhatched ones not to have more chicks because finding good families for them to adopt, is very difficult.

She'll be ok and quite frankly, you'll be ok too. Because if there it a male, like me, you are going to endup with 14 budgies and don't know how to give them away.

I have a question though; you said she lives with her baby. If there is no male, how the little baby came about?

it happens but very very rarley, and you will notice it. A nursing mom, is almost always in the nest. She only comes out to "go out". So you will notice it very easily. Google your question, you will find many articles about it.

Fardaad. I have 2 budgies they are young, but they are reaching adult. The Nose turn blue for male and they get fat. I think it's going to lay an egg. I only have a small weaved nest for finches. Will they lay inside it?

They need to have a wooden box approximately 20cm x 30cm x15cm.

It would be nice if the floor of the box is curved a little so the mother can collect the eggs easily. like the one in the video

Excellent quality video. I have tried filming and photographing my budgies when they were feeding chicks in the nesting box, but my video camera is crappy, and the shot is always too dark. It is so amazing to watch them. The chicks are so tiny and fragile when they hatch. Really miraculous.
