Reliability is somewhat based on how much you maintain your car, that is why BMW';s come with free maintenance because they know it is a lot of money to own. The $20k you pay over a Mustang goes for your "free" maintenance. if something goes wrong in a Mustang you don't have to wait for your parts to arrive from Germany to fix it.

BMWs may be a bit unreliable in the older stages of the cars life but doesnt mean they are crap. CTS-V is great , but tech for tech M>V

coming from an american, all i can say is that we make shitty cars to pay for to make ourselves feel special the first two years, and after that we regret buying the piece of shit. The only two good modern cars made are the camaro (the challenger is the same damn thing but less hp) and the Hennesy Viper. Dont start about corvettes which are the perfect mid life crisis car

Look at how many similar makes and models they have, which for a long time were pretty poor quality...especially their cars. puke. I would say this started happening in the 80s. At least Ford has had a much more global presence as shown by their management and company direction. Reliability is somewhat based on how much you maintain your car, that is why BMW';s come with free maintenance because they know it is a lot of money to own. The $20k you pay over a Mustang goes for your "free" maintenance. if something goes wrong in a Mustang you don't have to wait for your parts to arrive from Germany to fix it.

Although it was matched up against an M5, that is a car that has been around since 04! It will easily (stock vs. stock) be faster than the V. Oh, so you wanna go into tuning? The BMW will have the car beaten again. Twin Turbos vs. Supercharger. Yes. The turbos have lag, but being the owner of BMWs twin-turbo tech, I can honestly say there is close to none. They have mastered it and the next gen M5 will GUARENETEED rip the V

@seeno88 one thing you say is correct though. BMWs are not very reliable. That is why you have to be smart when owning one. Own it inside it's warranty and you are safe. This new M is not going to be like every other M by the way. It was going to have oodles of horsepower. How can you say that "nothing special horsepower" when the current M5 has 500? BMWs may be a bit unreliable in the older stages of the cars life but doesnt mean they are crap. CTS-V is great , but tech for tech M>V

I will never own an American car unless it's a Hummer H1 (real Hummer, not a tahoe with a different body like a H2) other than the H1 American cars are built like shit. Not to jump on the LSx bandwagon but I think they've proven that pushrods aren't going away anytime soon. What you say about American cars are true for American cars 5 years ago but they have improved a bunch. Don't believe me? Look at Ford and GMs ratings ;-)

Haha my little 3.2 litre inline 6 can do that! European and Japanese cars are way ahead of American cars. The ZR1 is fast as hell but it's a stock 6.2 litre supercharged. Congrats on that technoloy. I guarantee the new Ferrari 458 with it's NATURALLY ASPIRATED 4.5 litre V8 will outrun the ZR1 where it counts anyday on a road course! And the ZR1 has a LS9, not a LSX Bitch! LSX is the series in which all of the LS engines are considered to be in. just like the Gen 3 big block engines (396, 402, 427,and LS5 and LS6 454s)... no doubt that BMW knows what they're doing though because this V8 sounds sick as hell!
