  • Try hand feeding large porcupine puffers and an extra large stars and stripes puffer with large scary teeth! Now that takes a lot of courage! I trained my puffers to eat gently from my hand several years ago. Still got all 10 digits on both hands Haha!

  • @3Deditor Those are saltwater fish, this is obviously fresh, which is a little more rare for them to act this way. I also have a saltwater with a dogface puffer which that is the only way he will eat is if you hand feed him.

  • @CowWorldProduction that's kind of fun. hahaha!

  • I keep these fish but mine are very scared of me. How did you get them to eat from your hand? I have had mine for over a year and they would still rather swim into the glass or run into rocks than come up to me. I love watching them swim and eat but once I get within 2 feet of the tank they freak out and run into things, its annoying. I got these fish because I herd they were smart but my cichlids seem much smarter.

  • You should do some more videos of your puffer. See if you can pet it. I'd like to see that, you've already made a bond good enough that you can hand feed it. Try petting it. It took me awhile but all smart fish can develop personality. Example: My Eel is real funny, and loves to play peek a boo. He'll poke his head out and then run back in, real cute.

Check out my video of petting my Tire Track Eel as proof.

P.S. That is if he's still alive. It's been 2 years since so tragedy could have stuck.

  • i love puffer fish. do you know if they can they live with my Columbian and ID sharks?

  • Actually, should do great with I.D. Shark unless you get it when its really old, and not happy. If it's fresh you can't get a Figure 8. They live a lot longer, and are a lot more happy in Brackish.

  • Oops... My bad idk about I.D. Shark... but Columbia and puffer might do well... As long as you have a big enough tank for them. Really just depends on the type of puffer. P.M. if you need more info.

  • hell yea puffers and HIM thank you for not playing gay music!!!!!!!!!!

  • Those are the frozen ones. I usually thaw mine before I give them to my fish.

  • My african clawed frogs will come up and swallow the whole cube right from my hand still frozen!! Wonder if his stomach gets cold?

  • ive heard gravel like that is bad for them?

  • hey, i am soon going to purchase a puffer fish. i have a few questions about tank setup. is brackwater much more of a hassle then just fresh? And what are the components needed to make your tank support life? such as wat heat/filter/etc. should i be putting in my tank to ensure my puffer(s) are happy and stress free. what tank set-up do you have? anybody may answer this question so feel free!!

  • him are the best band ever lol and so are pufferfish

  • i couldn't help but notice a small fish nabbing a cheecky helping of blodworm in this vid. i thought puffers are only ok to be in a tank with fish bigger then themselves?

  • wellllll, obviously not.... :)

  • I keep my gsp's with an angelfish, which is not recommended but they haven't touched him.. it's been 2 months!

  • he is so cute!! i had 2 of these but sadly they died!! i found them a bit difficult to look after.

  • I was watching this while eating sushi and decided to feed mine so i cut a strip about 3cm in length and 3mm width so i could dangle it over and feed them but the biggest one just grabbed it and swallowed it within 15 seconds. Now it's got a bloated stomach and is swimming against the glass going up and down the tank...

  • nice puffer. how big are they? are they easy to raise?

  • These puffers are a mildly brackish fish that will thrive in a specific gravity of 1.005. In other words you need to put a 1/2 cup of sea salt per 5 gallons of water. They eat freezed dried krill to keep their teeth trimmed and frozen blood worms.

  • They also eat pellets and suck snails out of their shells. some eat crabs too. these spotted puffers live longer in saltwater.

  • This species in the video is Tetraodon biocellatus (Figure Eight puffer) not Tetraodon nigroviridis(Green Spotted Puffer)who thrives in a specific gravity of 1.010-1.024 when they get older.

  • cool
