Presumably the power line was not live. Apparently it fell on a police car . If this line had been live at the time ( 400000volts at 3200amps) there wouldnt have been much left of the police car or its occupants. Also there would have been some very spectacular arcing / electrical explosions anyway ( more spectacular than the fire ) there doesnt appear to have been? Does anyone know ? was the powerline already dead or was it isolated just in time? Either way it cant have been live?
lol i was there fella the fire burnt through the power line just one of them as it went down it earthed on the side of the industrial unit near by n u saw it blow up the sub station about ten miles away . there was the biggest blue flash from the substation, in the distance. kept tellin people it was live n they dint beleive me lol thick fucks it was obvious as the whole area was still lit up!!! n u could hear it arcing the thing is that if the power line came down as it did
the electric shock was ur last worries the cable weight would have cut you in 2. as it burnt through n snapped the power line u heard the cable whistle through the air at some incredible speed as u can imagine there is loads of tension on them lines. after it snapped i dint hang around for much longer as was a pretty dangerous place to be. hope that sheds some light on it for u dangerous
i could see that from long eaton, unfortunatly didnt get to see the fire for long, we drove to see it but crashed car on a50 endin up in hospital "gutted"
very high temperatures, it had been burning for about 2 hours at this point. when the cable finaly swung down it ripped the lights off the top of the police car. lol
i live in castle donington lol i remember this

Great footage... I like when it pans to the near tower, looming in the smoke. Those towers look enormous in the vid. Good job.

looks like the lowest line on the side closest to you was also burning.

Holy shit! What was burning there?
Well I think that's why you shoudn't spend too much time under a power line.
