I can't know the conditions they are working with, perhaps simply pudding alone would result in a well. In the event that so, perhaps we are seeing wasted man power. Rather having 1. 4 man crew make one well, when 2 2 man crews make 2 wells . That would change, if the 4 man crew can drill 2 wells faster tan a 2 man crew can drill 1.

@Kylef7735 More accurately they wouldn't be doing the work if there was no prospect of being rewarded. Many have worked their asses off hoping to find water, but found out the well was dryer than a popcorn fart. We are simply born, after that life, is all speculation Other than dying part that is

Yeah, it is quite labor intensive, no one would deny that but in many places in the world labor is much more plentiful than money.
