  • wer is the disk now?

  • @genx304 On the internet

  • Duke Nukem Forever came out. Not a whole lot is impossible.

  • Dear Sega,

Sonic X-Treme. On 3DS. Pwetty pwease.

    Yours Sincerely,

    w33zl

  • has anyone got a demo or a hack or a remake of this game

  • This is "Sonic CD (JAP) Music: Quartz Quadrant Zone (Good Future)"

  • If Sega Technical Institute wasn't stupid enough to show the old outdated engine first to Sega of Japan, they would've actually finished the game but no, they couldn't show the newer engine because the people from Sega of Japan had to leave. Why waste your time showing an old engine, when they could've got things done if they shown only the newer engine. Stupid goddamn Sega.

  • Super Mario Galaxy much

  • @funkyshannah cept this was made first...=)

  • What a shame.

  • They should finish this game.

  • nintendo (or whoever made starfox) didn't release starfox 2, and sega didn't release sonic x-treme. what the heck! D:<

  • Urgh, It would've been so much easier if they could've used the nights engine. The game might not have gotten cancelled that way.

  • @starstormer1: That is true, but the reason why they had to not use the Nights Engine was due to Yuji Naka,Basically he was not liking that they were using a source of his work without permission and would tell sega that he would threaten to quit if the engine was used,Hince the reason why they had no choice but to develop a new engine for the game, which it cost them to lose some development time.

  • Three grand, huh? Damn. This guy must have really been desperate to play this game. Knowing that it was bought for three grand means that its probably the number one collector's game to date, being better than the golden edition of Nintendo World Cup. I, must, buy, this, game, for, DOUBLE.

  • @The1pokemon master1 its from sonic cd from zone 4 quartz quadrant

  • alot of this is really in 2D alot like DOOM,, but damn this looks bad

  • 101 people were waiting for the game and hate the graphics of the 32 bit

  • what the name of the song?

  • @The1pokemaster1 I believe it's from Knights into Dreams but I could be wrong. If I am indeed wrong, it's from the unreleased game itself, which if that is the case I'd say poking around Sonic Retro website to find out.

  • Why the fuck didnt they puit their finished levels on the disc? Instead they sold a fucking disc with 100 steps worth of gameplay on it

  • @AgentsTheUniverse I don't remember this being released. As far as I know, some collector bought the unfinished game for 2,500$ and released a website where you could play it, but was shut down due to lack of deteriorated efforts to make the website.

  • @lilytheracoon820 yeah i know, i believe chris senn gave it to the auction, but why didnt he put the finished levels on it before he gave it to the auctioneer??

  • @AgentsTheUniverse Who knows...? :D

  • did it really have sonic cd music on it?

  • Sega should remake this game and put it on ps3 360 and 3ds that will be bad ass

  • i hope sega will finish this and put it on 3DS.

  • Since this is referred to as the "Nights" version, does that mean it's using the same engine as Nights into Dreams? Or?

  • Oh and the music is Quartz Quadrant Zone (Good Future) from Sonic CD JP/EU if anyone's wondering. Should be in the video description imo.

  • @44automag117 In regards to the spelling good call but in regards to me looking awful well :p you can't possibly think this look fun i don't care how much you like sega/sonic.

  • THIS IS NOT THE REAL GAME IT'S JUST THE PROTOTYPE YOU IDIOTS

  • @CrashSpyro125 Yeah! You are right!

  • LOL music from the SONIC CD of the japaneese version o3o

  • Comment removed

  • On wikepedia it said it was canccelled because everything the creators did was rejected and one of them came down with a disease and most of them were overworked.

They tried making a remake but it was cancelled in 2010, sad huh?

  • Sonic looks like in Sonic Robo Blast 2

  • @yoshinator2000

boy oh boy do i have good news for you download an emulator and get the rom at the website i'll give you emuparadie go to this website and on the side there will be an option called Hosted @ EP under that title it'll say a couple of subtitles click on the video game betas and scroll down for now theyre only four but one of them is sonice X treme

  • @Ventusvsterra WTF YOU'RE RIGHT :O

  • then this version was not squary as the pc one...

  • i read that this and a sonic game called sonic blast(not game gear)were cancled but the sonic blast you could play as sonic, sally, andbunny, yes from satam.but they cancled it before it was finished and later made sonic 3d blas

  • @supersonic1x185 wahh.

  • @HippyCat2913

it was a game in progress but was change a lot wich was later named sonic 3d blast

  • @supersonic1x185: Well Sonic 3D Blast techinally wasn't actually Sonic X-Treme,basically when Sonic X-Treme was Scrapped,Sega ask the team that was developing Sonic 3D Blast to port the game to the Saturn as well,in order to make up for the cancellation of Sonic X-Treme,This is just so fans could at least have a Sonic Game at the time for the Christmas Holiday, and by the time sega ask them, they were already about to be done with the Genesis Game.

  • @HamtaroSonicHedgehog

i dont understand why cancle this,it looks interesting

  • @supersonic1x185: It's a long story, basically it got cancelled because of development issues, time constant, issues with Yuji Naka and some other teams for using the Engine from Nights into Dreams without permission from Sonic Team itself, deadlines, one member of the development team was getting sick due to stress working on the game, and Sega of Japan rejected the Version that Chris Senn and Alon was working on,check wikipedia or the senntient forum for more info of the development.

  • Sonic Tribute!

    /watch?v=7F-Ds_xeNcA&

  • That is not what happened. Bernie Stolar simply cancelled it. The development problems were an afterthought.

  • i dont think it would have been good

  • the morphing ground is weird especially around 1:20 it stands out. Is the earth....breathing?

  • Comment removed

  • lmfao it only renders a very small piece, the ps1 was much better.

  • @JordanWilde

This was an early prototype tech demo, not an actual game.

Many of your favorite games started out as a simple character in a small area, with a programmer going "Look what we can do."

  • Finished or not this looks aweful

  • @MrThejoff You look aweful and idiot its awful not aweful dumbass

  • the music is from Sonic CD not Xtreme

  • heh the nights game engine was good enough

  • The game looks like ass.

  • @godfrey12345666 well duh it was never finished

  • @alexfart67 yeah I kinda gathered that by the title saying Unreleased Sega Saturn game.

  • @godfrey12345666 Yeah, but I wonder what it would look like finished

  • @godfrey12345666 What do you expect? It was incomplete, not to mention it was on the Saturn(most PS1, N64, and Saturn games look bad nowadays).

  • I love the music to this

  • The music is from Sonic CD.

  • @Argonaut64Studios It's from Sonic CD

  • @Argonaut64Studios Well if you wanna know what this song is its Quartz Quadrantz good future jp verson from sonic cd.

  • Where's the speed?

  • The game over screen is creepy.

  • this should be on 3ds in the virtual console

  • The "Game Over" screen music is a slowed down version of "Sonic-You Can Do Anything".

  • sonic 3D 3D

  • Sonic's sprites remind me of Sonic Robo Blast 2.

  • Comment removed

  • i have a copy of this game but it doesn't have music

  • @almerylc128 is it good?

  • I think they should had released it maybe they could have sold some Saturns but then they should have not released 32x or focus on the Genesis or Saturn being use of the Internet which they pioneered and they pioneered lots of things Online gaming, CD format, download games. Ex. the Sega Channel The service would provide them with unlimited access to 50 games, selectable through an on-screen menu, with new games appearing every month, That was in 1994.

  • @J5MARLON TurboGrafx16 actually pioneered CD format for home consoles with an add-on.

  • @BudzMcgr33n I know but how many ppl had a Turbo not many but alot had or heard of Sega CD

  • This is the kind of music Sonic games should have.

  • Toot toot sonic warrior...sonic cd game over lol

  • so this is the only copy a video of the only copy of the game?damn sega always keepin the good shit to ur self

  • Can anybody please tell me how to get the full soundtrack to this game?

The music used here I loved when I was a young kid, I recorded it to a tape but it got lost. I would be very happy to listen to all the music again.

  • Actually, this game would've been CRAP. Adventure was much better, in my opinion.

  • i dont get why the nights team bitching would cause sega to change the game. they work for sega which means sega can do what they want whether the nights team like it or not.

and why would the nights team try to fuck up sonics saturn game anyway?

  • does the song have a name?

  • @goldturtwig Quartz Quardrant Good Future JPN Version of Sonic CD

  • @ChrisEchidna Better then sonic 06. Happy now?

  • @warc9 Sonic 06 is an awesome game!

  • too bad this game wuzn't realsed

  • these graphics take me back. I remember when this would have been cutting edge console graphics lol.

  • doesnt look awesome but it might have been ok

  • @ChrisEchidna I have seen some gameplay of it and it is terrible. The humans are too damn real! It's only a videogame not real life. Besides they are ugly drawn.

  • @ChrisEchidna Much better than sonic 06

Even tough I never played the game or owned it lolz.

  • this game looks awesome! Why was it cancelled?

  • @RayKidd227 go to retro*ign*com/articles/877/877660p1*html and you will discover (delete the * and put .)

  • 0:24 wow!! that's extreme -_-

  • what game is this song from? Because I got hear this song on my version of Sonic CD in tidal tempest (present) :/

  • @SasukeUchiha3332008 Its Quartz Quardrant Good Future JPN Version of Sonic CD

  • Man, I wish I could rack up huge points for walking around doing nothing lol.

  • Remember,if this came out we wouldn't have Sonic Adventure.

  • your missing the rings........

  • soooo much pop in

  • @PirahnaProductions

    I know.

I almost got motion-sickness from watching Sonic X-treme videos 0.o

  • 1:29 I wonder If Sega realised that that river was going the wrong way XD

  • Oh wow, I just realized that the ending theme is a corrupted version of "Sonic Warrior" from the PAL version of Sonic CD.

  • whoa the graphics on this one were terrible

  • now i wnat to play this...and i don't even own a saturn p;

  • @uwright22

You cant even if you owned a Saturn. It was cancelled.

  • @megawillmonds i know btw i found a staurn for 30$ with 1 controller so yeah

  • sonic CD is best sonic game of all time

  • this game would have been awesome! awesome 3d sonic game! awesome music! new character: Tiara! im soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sad this game never got made........

  • sonic games never fail when it comes to great music.........even unfinished games! does anybody know where i can download this song or the name of it?

  • i can see why this game never came out, it looks pretty shitty. nice music though.

  • Why does it make a weird screeching sound at 1:45?

  • it looks like he doesn't even know where the fuck he's going!

  • can somebody tell me i have the urge to kill a guy named jade gully after i saw this video?

  • @SideHugzzRock uhh, thats the name of the area level, bright star.

  • looks like a crappy game if it ever came out

  • Beautiful music

  • Where is tiara?

  • WHY ISN'T HE GETTING THE RINGS

  • This music is from Sonic CD

  • This looks really boring.

  • dude, at the begining when it says "X-TREME" thats from a game on the original play station called "X-Treme sports" .

    WTF????

  • Thumbs up if watching this video made you sad that this game is not finished

  • @yoshinator2000 YOUR SAD for asking for thumbs up.

  • @yoshinator2000 i know i was wait6ing and was shitting my pants when i saw this game in the Magazine but then i found out it didn't came out and i was sad i was young at the time i was 4

  • @yoshinator2000 :( I feel the pain... *sob!*

  • One of Sega's biggest mistakes was not having a fantastic Sonic the Hedgehog game ready to go at launch of the Saturn. The Sega Saturn wasn't a bad system, but it failed to maintain the level of killer apps that the Genesis had, and as with any system, should have had a "mascot game" ready at launch. Imagine Nintendo 64 without ever releasing Mario 64 etc. etc.

  • Anyone else find it cool they planned on adding sonic cd music to this P.S THE PROTOTYPE OF THIS WAS SOLD RECENTLY ON EBAY FOR 715$

  • Ehhh wheres the speed?

  • This music is from Sonic CD. Crystal Quartz Zone in the PAst. (in think i wrote the name of the stage correctly)

  • @DragaoDiamante

It's Quartz Quardrant, and this is the good future.

  • The terrain renders slow at 0:44

  • looks like the most annoying game to play lol

  • Yeah I see why this game was cancelled.

    1.Unappealing design

    2.Lack of enemies

    3.Detail on sonic isnt appealing

    4.Camera glitches

5.Clouds are flat, shown at 0:57

This game would have gotten viewed negatively, bank on it

  • This isn't a finished game. This is just a bit of what they were doing before it was canceled. Its mainly an engine test. They wouldn't have released it like this if it would have been finished. Think of it as a debug unit.

  • @thenicksterdude010 "This isn't a finished game. This is just a bit of what they were doing before it was canceled. Its mainly an engine test. They wouldn't have released it like this if it would have been finished. Think of it as a debug unit." NSOmega2 summed it up.

  • @thenicksterdude010

    Can you say ''Beta''?

  • @segafan1995 But, you don't know what you're talking about. 2 of the processors were for graphics, though, the first one was the only one capable of doing 3D very well. The other one was a co processor. Then the last one was just a simple sound processor. Look, I love the Saturn as much as anybody, but I know that the PS1 was definitely superior, at least in 3D. 2D is another story.

  • Is this a real game

  • @getnjr yessssssssss but it got cancelled

  • This is the supposed "finished" version? It looks buggy as hell...

  • what is that song?? i heard it from somewhere before

  • @rykuo15 The Game Nights, maybe in the Sonic Adventure level that featured Nights (CASINO)

    hope that helped.

  • @rykuo15 from sonic cd quartz quardrant good future

  • No... the score...

    IT'S OVER 9000!!!!

  • This game looks like crap, i just dont get the game

  • @adilliosz That's because this technically wasn't a "game", this was a proof of concept tech demo to test out how a Sonic game would feel running on the Nights engine for a possible Sonic game on the Saturn. This demo seems to have been developed to test terrain interaction with the pre-rendered 2D Sonic character.

  • it's a shame this wasn't developed, Nights was the king of early 3D games, and modern 3D sonic sucks...it just sucks so hard. 'This could have been pretty good.

Oh yeah, and sonic 3D Blast? That was neither 3D nor a blast.

  • this game is better than sonic colours 10/10 green flagged, release the Kraken!

  • this game looks like a screen saver

  • @thiagotecnico this isnt the real game its just a test engine cd that some unkown guy bought in 2005

  • i think this would be the best saturn game if it was released coz sonic jam was a good collection and sonic world ruled but it was not a full game.

    Thats why the system failed

  • 0:20 why is the ground Sonic is standing on rising up and down? :o

  • @mariodude8989211 as it is an unreleased game, I think its some kind of bug with the 3D polygons. If they have finished this game, it could be nice :D

  • @salmonelas123

Actually, this isn't the real. This was just a pilot animation to give an idea of what Sonic X-treme would have looked like running on the Saturn. The actual game looked quite a bit different than this.

  • WHY WASNT THIS REALEASED IT WOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT FOR THE TIME IT WAS MADE

  • @firestar01234 they use for this beta the same engine has NIGHTS Into Dreams

  • @mspeter97 im saying i wish this game was completed

  • @firestar01234 oh sorry!

but this game could be a masterpiece but sega was too lazy to finish him (fucking 32x)

  • @mspeter97 yeah and this wasnt the first time the were gonna make a game called sonic crakers but it got cancelled and they made knuckles chaotix

  • @firestar01234 but they cancelled sonic X-treme and made...nothing!

  • @mspeter97 i think they made sonic jam to make up for this

  • @firestar01234 Nope, they made Sonic 3D Blast for Saturn as a back-up plan

  • @HowPettyful yeah and that game didnt even look 3d

  • @firestar01234 Ya, it's just that when the original Genesis version was made, people were like OMG! So I guess it made a difference when Sega released it on Saturn? Not really lol

  • @HowPettyful yeah and those games werent even alike they had nothing in common sonic 3d blast would have sucked if this had been made fully

  • @HowPettyful Yeah but Sonic Jam is more like Sonic X-treme in that it takes place in a polygonal world, rather than isometric graphics like 3D Blast.

  • what does it mean by "nights version?"

  • @SegaSaturn64 Well, let me explain: Sonic X-Treme was originally supposed to use an altered version of the engine made for the game " NiGHTS into Dreams". But then Mr. Naka threatened to quit if it was ever used for the game(X-Treme), so this caused some trouble for the development team working on what would've been the first 3D Sonic.

  • @Octorok172 thanks. i get it now.

  • Pretty impressive stuff actually. A lot of movement there. I don't get how they were planning on doing this on the Genesis

  • @OffDWallNotDRack Sega doesn't get anything, thats why Sonic Fan Remix is better than Sonic 4

  • @SpunkMouth69 I'd say rather than one being better than the other, they're more equals. Sonic 4 has things that I wish Sonic Fan Remix had (but it shouldn't since that'd go against the direction of Sonic Fan Remix), and Sonic Fan Remix has a LOT of things I think Sonic 4 could benefit from. All in all, Sonic 4 doesn't live up to its potential, and SFR goes way past its own potential, which tells us something bout the dev's. I'd recommend SFR for a nostalgia blast over Sonic 4 any day though.

  • @SpunkMouth69 of course SFR is better than sonic 4, SFR is just sonic 2 reskinned.

  • @SpunkMouth69

Except it isn't. Physics aside, Sonic 4 shows Sega understands what drives Sonic is good level design, and merging it with arcade reflex gaming for which they're known.

Sonic isn't about "going fast", it's about reacting quickly to changing dynamics in level design. Sometimes that means going fast, or going slow, or using split second reflexes when Sonic is forced fast due to level design (loops, scurves, slopes).

Fan Remix doesn't "get" that as it focuses on "going fast".
