  • it's step by step heart to heart neck by neck not left to right thats stupid :P

  • love this song everyone in my family does but my cousin how WEIRD

  • If I ever die in combat, I want this played at my funeral.

  • this is from 1989

  • Like toy soldiers! I was supposed to be the soldier, who never shows his composure.

    Thumbs up!

    -Eminem

  • Heard this on the radio today so it got stuck in mah head

  • thumbs up if your listening to this in fucking 2007

  • @Madcope2k9 it's 2011 not 2007...

  • @Madcope2k9 wow, your trapped in time

  • This reminds me of how i met your mother, Robin (scherbatsky) Sparkles - sand castles in the sand. lol

  • This is about drug addiction and how drugs can control you like children control their toys. Metallica's "Master Of Puppets" has a similar theme.

In an interview that aired on VH1, Martika said that she wrote this song about a friend who was hooked on cocaine.

  • @TheBlackSedan This also reminds me of the song Glycerine. It's almost like they are talking to the drugs as if they were a person. It's really an amazing piece of artistry to make the point. The drugs are saying, "Come out and play with me".

  • am i the only one whos here because of eminem?

  • @thedjak29 so true

  • thumbs up if this song reminds u of real childhood, traveling, old computers, and that stuff, and thumbs up if u like Serbia and Serbian people! and viva Italia! htey have best girls! and thumbs up if u are crazy! to srbija brate! i love worrld and people and this is world song!!!!! :)

  • HI RICHARD! YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE! I THINK STEALER'S WHEEL - STUCK IN THE MIDDLE is BETTER...but this is COMPLEMENTARY!

  • mnogo good song danke thanks und gracie i hvala! :D 4 languages!

  • its about addiction baby

  • I had good memories with this song ,it happened in 90s...nice,great.wonderful....

  • This is the Budweiser girl who sang the song wild horses in the commerical.

  • I love this song, and I was born in 1998

  • @natashaforev i fell in love with this song in 1998 when i was 16 and heard it at the IHOP near the Loveland dog track in Colorado. i did not know who sang it , heard it again a year later at the Luxor Casino arcade in las vegas finally found the title and artist from a 80s Hits cd ad on tv in late 98, finally got the tape in San Diego at a goodwill and have amazing memories of being stuck in traffic for 4 hours on 4th of July playing it on repeat. best song ever. deep and spiritual

  • @natashaforev Its easier to 98 at the end of your name, thats what I did it saved a lot of trouble, I didn't have to write my age or birthdate on the comments and risk getting a lot of hate replies about it, if they really cared they could just look at my name...

  • @natashaforev same =]

  • @natashaforev damn you young

  • @natashaforev Cool, so was I. Small world.

  • love this song

  • never understood what this song was talking about but the song is pretty was a big hit in the 90's.

  • Beautiful music by a white (Hispanic) woman. Compare the artistry of this WHITE woman to the black-sounding retard who calls himself Chocolate Bar . . . sorry . . . M&M . . . and you can see the stark difference between European and African wannabes. Rap is crap and white who try to sing it are full of it.

  • still listenin' before and after 22 years

  • I love this song!

  • I remember hearing this song as a kid and wondering why someone would sing about Toy Soldiers - Oh the innocence.

  • the most painfull words ever

  • i love both of version , but excuse me martika's voice it is amazing

  • Far superior to Eminem's version. It's about something meaningful, whereas his version is just about some wanker rappers having "beefs" and "feuding" like tossers.

  • Pritty cool I guess....

  • thumbs up if you play toy soldiers to this

  • Eminem brought me here

  • i love this song<# it makes me think of my cousin he died only 19 :( him and his friends did drugs and my cousin had to sufer i miss him the drugs made him do stupid thing like shooting himself i lovee him

  • I'm thankful to Eminem, if only for the fact that he helped me find this amazing song.

  • Yes I am listening to this in 2011

No I'm not going to press any number on my keyboard

No I'm not going to thumbs up your comment

    No I don't care what's wrong with 11 people

No I don't care about you 'raping' a button

No I was not sent here by someone else

Music is there to be listened and appreciated, unfortunately there are people out there who just don't see that. The music industry is becoming more about marketing and less about musical quality.

  • @MrHristak you hit the nail the nail on the head people use to sing music to send a message.

  • @MrHristak Your comment has the most "thumbs up"- irony.

  • @MrHristak you're so right. It is about marketing and less about musical quality. Songs have become products and less of an art form. A hit song by an auto tune "singer" is like a snuggie, it's rediculous at first - geting insanley popular, oversaturates the media- and then worn out and forgotten untill the next low quality hit song that gets stuck in you head

  • @MrHristak I'm not going to thumbs you up, because I'm not a conformist. But I do agree with you, Youtube top comments are fucking ridiculous.

  • Hauntingly beautiful

  • Don't know if anyone knows this or if its been mentioned, but Fergie is on backing vocals on this song!

  • @BestMusicExpert Yes she is. =D So is Jennifer Love Hewitt and Renee Sands, basically all her cast mates from Kids Incorporated.

  • @BestMusicExpert she was on the show Kids Incorporated with Martika

  • @ihearttwinkies1 I know, just wasn't sure casual listeners would know that trivia.

  • The way she sings 'down' in the chorus is really nice!

  • i love this song its just amazing<3

  • the song is an all time great and anyone who can't see that needs to be checked out through and through

  • I read somewhere that she co-wrote this song in response to a friend that o.d. on drugs...

  • we all fall down....like toy soldiers

  • we all fall down....

  • Man... That makes me mad I searched this song and the first name that pops up is Eminem I hate remixes!

  • Comment removed

  • Does martika do the chorus on eminem toy soldiers?

  • @DoggyBoo1 yup

  • This is my husband's account. But I love this song. Not many people know this song was about Martika's addiction to drugs.

  • This is my husband's account. But I love this song.

  • Slightly better than eminem's version, fair play to eminem though, his version was pretty good!!

  • I fell in love when i first heard this(:

  • Here because of Eminem... this version is quite haunting...

  • lol

  • I LISTEN TOO THIS EVERYDAY, MEGAN T/Y

  • I was listening to this today!!! XD :3

  • does anyone know the name of the song that starts at 4:40 in credits?

  • @pikaro1231 Answer: Thy love will be done. Song by Martika.

  • @belter1776 thanks :)

  • What a perfect song to describe my battles with addiction...

  • Mmm. Its okay. I like Eminem's better, this one is too soft for me.

  • a six year old girl at my school sung this song and her name was Alexis and so is myne soo i thought id look up the song and now im n love with it

  • both songs this one and Eminem they are both good songs!!! this song is a CLASSIC!!! and Em didnt redo the song he just Sampled with MARTIKAS permission i dont get where people say Eminems version is shitty when its the exact same song a sthis just sampeled

  • this song WILL ALWAYS be a classic.

  • this song is the one of those great songs of time its timeless it was great then and still great now in 2011!! and as for eminem his version doesnt compare to this classic!

  • oh yea doesnt get any better than this song

  • i seriously cant get this song out of my head . i luv it

  • fantastic lyrics not like the m&m's shitty version...

  • this version is so pretty

  • i like both versions of this song i like eminem's version most but this is also awsome

  • i luv this song

  • Thumbs up if you heard this song from a video of Tila Tequila stripping on a webcam?

  • The guy who says this song is about abused children doesn't know what he is talking about. This song is about how drug addiction afects our loved ones. Do noy confuse this song with my name is Luka by Sussane Vega. As for Eminem's version being better, that opinion belongs exclussively to a generation that clearly didn't see this video when it first came out, and to people who only get hip hop.

  • Not to be rude, i'm only listening to this 'cause Eminem<3

  • its much much slower

  • I heard this song for the first time today.....Up to this day I though Eminem was the original writer of those lyrics, Hes gone down in my list of favourite Artists.

  • I like eminem's better lol

No offense and I'll click the like button anyway I ain't no hatter

  • CLASSIC TUNE......anyone know what MARTIKA is doing these day's?

  • eminem sux,why we even talking about him,lol

  • I Like Eminem's Verson Better..

But I Still LOVE THis One..

  • great song btw...

  • eminem is a bitch....... im tired of his cheesy try to move people songs... the guy is horrible at trying to convey any kind of emotion... hes just a shity person

  • @utubesucksheha Then u dont see talent!! he is a multi-award winning artist!! he has made million!! the fact that u dont like his music doesnt detract from the fact that he a musician with AMAZING talent!! If ur gonna express ur opinions, say it in a way that doesnt make u look so ignorant!!

  • @cmoeller3 hahahahahahaha

  • this was my jam! I used to run to the tv to watch the video on MTV...back when MTV played videos lol

  • when did this song come out?

  • @Mewstarz thanks

  • @Mewstarz Actually, 1989.

  • This is me in a nutshell.Addiction kicks my ass everytime.

  • Eminem didn't steal from the song. He sampled (yes, sampled, not stole) the chorus to highlight the message of both this song and his song. He uses them in conjunction in order to say self-destruction isn't a good thing, and I think this is pretty much the single most appropriate he could have picked to stress that, because of how powerful and meaningful a song it is. Eminem's inclusion of this is tributary of the song, not disrespectful or disregarding.

And this song does give me chills <33

  • I like both verisions. My friend was saying crap about Eminem for taking some of this song, she was saying, "Eminem always takes stuff from other songs, Lil Wayne doesnt do that." (Ovisiously she doesnt know what she's talking about, cuz Lil Wayne does) anyways, I think that by taking stuff from other songs, it helps out the songs popularity. I didn't know about this song until I heard Eminem's version of the song.

  • @1313eminemfan youre right, lil wayne just used "blinded by the light" by manfred mann

  • i love this one better then eminem

  • 10 dislikes, how could anyone dislike this song. its a classic

  • yo thumbs up if its 2011 nd ur listenin to this awsum song!!!! :]

  • @iLuvzmySmokey14 i will listen to this song and in 3011 :)

  • fuk yu and the boat yu rowed in on

  • I wish music was like it used to be in the 80's and 90's :(

  • /watch?v=2quQYQmcV0I

  • i like this one and eminems song.... call me crazy but hey thats just me

  • @NEodRA6 you havent listend to this one :D

    /watch?v=2quQYQmcV0I

  • See, why cant female singers nowadays have class anymore? singers like martika were hot in a natural way, not parading themselves around like sluts... I'M LOOKIN AT YOU CYRUS!

  • Old school!!

  • WOOOOOOOOOO

  • beautiful song by a beautiful lady.

  • i have this single,for a good offer?

  • eminem does it better

  • @slim4thewin eminen sucks, hes just a copycat.

  • @MbGirlSD no fuck you eminem is the most amazing human being on the plant..... and i fucked your mother last night

  • man BOY DO I REMEMBER THIS!!!! I saw this video once and still remember this!!! I was like 6 or 7

  • She was so before her time with this on this one. Although there have always been drug addiction since like the beginning, but now days people are really figuring out what it does to you and how to change it.

  • I've always loved this song. She's beautiful

  • This version is way better than eminem's. I'm sorry, but I really don't like him at all. I will always love this version better. <3

  • @wolflover651 are you fucking serious?

Eminem didn't cover this song, he sampled it.

    DERRRRP

  • listen up everyone. martika came up with this godly song. eminem used it to broadcast antoher message. does it really need to go as far as hating one version or saying that another version stole it? songs can be used and reproduced/utilitised in any way the person sees fit if they get permission, which eminem probally did. i swear youtube gets more and more trolls when i hop back on.

  • @siscokidder THIS. Thanks for having brains. Sadly it isn't trolls it's idiots who are fanboys of other songs. This song has one message Eminem gives another. It isnt stealing.

  • @siscokidder i thought hip-hop was 'original' at one time. lmao. sampling = not innovating/ staying stagnant. eminem's shit since his early stuff anyways.

  • @siscokidder yea so jb stole the title for his song with ou asking queen emienm ask to use it and got copyrights or some shit

  • They also have different messages This one is about staying off drugs. Eminems Is about rappers beef. But Eminem improved it to me.

  • This is a chilling song yet I like it. The message is convincing enough to stay away from drugs.

  • Sampling, stealing... Whichever word you use, it means the same thing, in this case. I don't think we should have this huge debate over something so insignificant.

  • Bit by bit

    Torn apart

    We never win

    But the battle wages on

    .. For toy soldiers 

  • This song is a bout a party where people died due to drugs

  • @Roscoejessick this song is about children who have been abused you dumb ass

  • @topia100 wow real cool so i was wrong about the meaning of the song.

  • i wanted to hear eminem.... not an OLD LADY

  • @faolan2336

Fucktard.Go grow some hair on your balls. This is a damn sight better then eminems version.

  • @faolan2336 um then when you searched Toy soldiers and saw Martika you shouldn't have clicked on it dumbass

  • stop bitchin about eminem. its a sample. its part of rap, and actually its part of alot of music as a whole. he was paying homage to a classic song and relating it to his life.

  • Eminem did an amazing job in destroying this classic

  • wow they had interesting effects back then

  • *p*e*r*f*e*c*t* song.

  • Man, I haven't heard this song in, like, 15 years and decided to look it up on a whim just now. I also just watched someone's old vhs tape of her performing live just to verify that she really does sing this well. And she does. She's a fantastic singer.

Remember a time when there was no autotune? Those were good times.

  • What the f that iz a freakin bad song:/

  • this song is dedicated to tepai, japan

  • Love this song!! I still have her cd!! What ever happen to Martika?
