I am really happy I got to fly TWA a few times a child, back when it was an exciting, glamourous thing to do. I remember the stewardesses being so kind, the captain personally greeting my brother and I, getting those little wings, real dinner plates, good food... I understand, things change and all, but I am definitely nostalgic for the 60s and 70s era.
I was a daughter of two TWA employees. We dressed nice, we acted respectfully. Had great service and food. What a sad state flying is in today. We miss TWA and the class it stood for.
I would agree. I think its about pride. We were proud to be TWA flight attendants. I always took extra efforts to make sure my uniform was always clean, my blouses pressed. Pity a great job has been reduced to simple a "job". For me it was a career and a lifestyle.
Was it so difficult to take pride in ones appearance and dress like what you were doing what different than any other job on the planet? Now the majority look like they could be interchanged with servers at the McDonald's..and have the same attention for customer service.
You picked the right song for this tribute as the cover of Frank Sinatra's album, "Come Fly with Me" (song recorded in Oct, '57) sported a TWA 1649A "Jetstream" Starliner Constellation in the background!
Thank you. I really hesitated to use this song because it has been "over used" by almost everyone who makes a video about TWA - but nothing else fit. I spend almost as much of my time trying to pick the right tune as editing the video.
My family and I flew quite a few times on TWA. Most of the flights were domestic. But we went to Great Britain on TWA in 1988. On the return trip home to America, we had a stopover in Los Angeles, where we had to go through Customs. After we boarded our flight to San Francisco, we were surprised to see a Los Angeles Dodgers game in progress on the movie screen while the airplane was still at the gate. But we were glad when the game had to be turned off before our flight left. Such memories.
I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!! Really wonderful. Thank you for posting. To all the women who pioneered air travel, especially TWA. THANK-YOU!!! I know TWA is gone, :( but always remember this slogan...Fly The Finest...Fly TWA!!! William
HOLY COW!! I was hired on with TWA on 020675and it was the best career I ever had! I was based in JFK and flew international. I worked with Jacque and connie on one trip, and they were just nice. I lost five other friends on 800 but life went on. I met so many wonderful
Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. The uniform was called the "cut-out was designed by Howard Greer and influenced in its design by the French fashion expert Christian Dior. You might want to contact Clipped Wings and see if they have any records about who is pictured in the photographs. Your parents were part of TWA's exciting years. Lucky you!
It's so chilling to see Marit Rhoads & the Charbonniers in the video. I hope they are all in a much better place now. TWA Flight Attendants were a cut above the rest. Over the years my family flew TWA all over the world. We're from Missouri TWA was like the offical airline of Missouri. Some of my Dad's & Aunt's best friends were TWA employees. I just want to say to all TWA employees thanks for always giving it your all. I know it wasn't easy, and because of you the legacy of TWA lives on.

The photo of Connnie and Jacque was one of my own, taken on one of our many trips to Paris. Pictured with Marit is Jannell Jensen, Connie and Jacque's best friend. Sadly she died of cancer a couple of years after F800. I purposely added their pictures as part of the tribute.
That tragedy must have been so hard on all of you. I can't imagine losing my friends in such a horrific tragedy. I saw the E! channel show about Karen Lacey, and how she quit TWA after her best friend died on F800. It made me so sad. I've never lost anyone in such a horrific way, I cant imagine what a shock it was that July night.
Oh thank you so much Kaye! I do believe that flight attendants don't get thanks from their passangers! So thank you so much for this video it is very well done and its sad to think that TWA is no longer around ),:.
I love all of the early TWA photos of the flight attendants - classic. I'm working on another video - hopefully I will have it out in a couple of weeks.

@twaladybug Great work!
You really dug into the archives for this one and delivered!
The fading at the end from black & white into color with the AA & TW aircraft kind of a bitter taste but accurate and on the money!
Best wishes always!
