OMG this brought tears to my eyes!! What a bunch of darlings you've got there rockin' to the theme of Hockey Night in Canada! I agree with qwertyjuan -- it's a tradition that transcends generations. Your boys excitement is living proof. CBC and maybe a former NHL'er should step up and keep this icon from being lost.

Or, to add another analogy, Led Zeppelin agree to that and instead, the song will be played by Aerosmith, will the people think it will be the same? No, nobody will win with this. HNIC is not only the theme, it is also, CBC (the only thing they had), Don and Cherry (you like them or not) It will feel strange clicking and watching another channel, different commentators and different commercials, just to hear the theme.
