Very informative. I was interested in the failure to thrive comment. I am only 5 ft 3 and most of my family are over 6 ft. I was admitted to hospital around the age of 9yrs & told I had anorexia. I had no body image issues but if I ate I was sick, all I could stomach was cows milk and never knew why. After a lot of bowel cancer diagnosis in my family, we all got tested, the shorties all tested positive, my case is by far the worst. I think I should have been taller, had I been diagnosed sooner.

We can't eat out or have a beer at the pub. Coeliacs is socially restrictive; if we do eat out, no matter how hard we try to avoid it, we do get gluten poisoning, vomit heaps and have diarrhea, which is not socially acceptable. Would you go out if you knew that you couldn't eat or drink anything when everyone else is? Try going off all Gluten containing foods for a week and still maintain your lifestyle. I bet you can't!

well, I have celiac disease and its not socially restricting at all, im doing fine and go out on a regular basis... i have no problems with it. ha !
