The Coptic Orthodox Church was established by the Apostle Thomas in the first Century. Undoubtedly the Apostles wore clothes more like what Orthodox bishops wear than modern dress! They didn't derive from the original twelve. They are the succession of the original twelve. The Coptic Church has been in existence every since Thomas (one of those 12) brought the church to Egypt.

I am not mislead like many others, they need to see people dressed up in robes,etc to feel that they are holy. In fact the Coptic Churches are very very close to the Orthodox Church: The schism of the Chalcedonian Synod is now seen by both sides as a misunderstanding, and the only obstacles for absolute union are mostly practical.
