No I wouldn't do it. I mean you 'might' be able to get it to conduct but a "cold joint" is never a good thing and usually what leads to a short or complete frying of the board. Use a low-temp iron (like 15w or 20w) and a thin diameter 60/40 solder. It is easier to work with on a board and isn't so hot that it instantly melts away the pre-existing solder on the board which is often a headache when soldering circuit boards with things in place.

Yeah, you don't add solder to the iron and then put that to the wire, you'll end up with a cold solder joint. You put the iron to the surface at a 45 degree angle for about 5-10 seconds to heat it up a bit (assuming you're using the right wattage) and then add the solder from the opposite side of the iron. You also NEVER use a soldering iron to melt plastic. You'll ruin the end of your iron doing that. Measure the temp push button and then drill a proper hole, shaving as needed. IDIOT!!
