I hope someone has enlightened you to the REALITY of the world once you're OUT of FIDM. I graduated CUM LAUDE in 2005 Fashion Design. I have since "competed" in Design compettiions and WON WITH GREAT ACCOLADES.however - now 2012--I have applied at HUNDREDS of job openings (NO RESPONSE).I have mailed out over 600 resumes with cover letters follow up phone calls-NO RESPONSE.One piece of advice-prospective employers watch these videos.Keep your videos "intelligent" and be ready for rejections
@my2centimeters Sorry to hear that. Im not going for for design im going for marketing which gives me many areas to explore... Obviously there will be rejection, but thats common sense. Thanks for the advice.
okay.....wtf!!! lol my color wheel in my first quarter looked nothing like that! hahahah it succckeeddd. I finished my first year at FIDM, and obviously I've been getting better. I'm starting my 2nd at the LA campus, next week and sounds like you got wayyy more hw...in san diego for color and Design we didn't have that much stuff to do! haha I'm really jealous of your skills...I need to step up my game in my second year if this is what your first quarter work looked like!
I love your videos, been really informative. Thank you for taking the time to do these. The people you have met at FIDM, do they enjoy their Digital Media majors?
@Daniiielllie and i take five a week... i think you have to at least take four to be full time but the more you take at a time the faster you graduate...
Hey how many classes do you have a day and how long are you at school for those classes because I'm going to try to attend but will have to have a job and I want to make sure I have tine for one
@Daniiielllie you have each class just one day a week for three hours so this quarter i take all my classes on monday, tuesday, and wednesday. Next quarter im just going to take all my classes on monday and tuesday..so definitely time for a job..
carrying on.. so i didn't know wether to do my BA in Fashion Buying here first cause in England we only have to go to Uni for 3 years to get a BA. So then i could get my BA in Fashion Buying then do an AA in Visual Communications or whatever. But that would mean I'm 21 when finally coming to fidm? do you think id be to old? if it was my choice I'd come nw but my parents don't rlly think its a 'real' school even though it is. I've wnted to live in LA my whole life so studyin there wud be amazing!
@xxobabydoll Well its not all about your education its how you present yourself and your connections you know? I met a girl out the other day who said she could get me an internship at Fred Segal..so thats important. If I were you I would get your BA in England and then come here, a lot of people I know do that. So you would definitely not be too old. And even though Im getting an AA from FIDM Im focusing on classes designed specifically for my major so it doesn't waste my time
@xxobabydoll So it just depends how much time you want to spend in school. For me the worst that could happen is that I would have to go back and get my BA. So its totally up to you! Hope this helps a little bit? :)
@allthingsbeautifulll yeah that deffinately helps thank u! i'll probs get my BA first then come. and if I don't get accepted into the london college of fashion to do my BA then ill come straight to FIDM:) it's weird haha i'm not excited about doing a BA at all im just excited to get it over with so i can come to fidm! lol :) i act love america so much, hopefully once ive done all my studying etc i can get a green card! i go there every year. x

Hope you don't mind me bombarding you with all these comments babe but you seem like you have a good opinion :)!
Basically I'm from London and I really want to study at FIDM next year. I want to do Visual Communications or Merchandise Marketing. But I've herd loads of people say that the degree you get from FIDM doesn't actually get you a good job? Cus it's not like a bachelors degree or anything? carry on in next comment
@purplemascara55 No I don't do student housing because it is more expensive then it should be. I had some money saved up before I moved out here and also have student loans that I use to pay my rent. My rent is only $600 a month but I share a one bedroom. I definitely plan on getting a job just for spending money but as of now I have enough in loans to pay a years worth of rent. I moved here from Ohio and im going to the LA campus. I love it. Best decision I have ever made :)
