  • Good to see you finally got around to these! I have been eyeballing a thor and idun combo for some time, and since I am selling off everything I own to travel, maybe now is the time!

  • Gets a bit addictive buying these knives!. The 3 is a good one, the 4 too, but not much different to your 4.

    paul

  • thnx paul love my idun might want something bigger now :D

  • Thats quite a line up Paul !

That large one is insanely big, lol. In my mind im not sure where that could be used.

If i was going to live in the Bush for several years, id be buying that big bad boy, lol. Cheers

  • @66yurt

Yes, that Thor NL1 is a big one, but actually none of them feel 'too big' in your hand~I think because the balance is good. But thats a heafty piece of steel!!!!

  • @66yurt

Actually, the 10" blade has a lot of uses. When It comes to wood prep, a large blade can be your best friend when an axe is too heavy to carry in the bush day in and day out. I always carry a 10" and a 4" blade when I am out, plus a few others just for fun.

  • @Quoiyaien > I totally agree there " Quoiyaien " a knife that big could do a lot of taskes in the Bush. But you would never catch me in the woods without my Axe, lol. A knife can not cut down a Tree, no matter how big it is. Handles are always way to short to get any leverage. Saplings, i agree a big knife could do with building shelter's. But here in British Columbia Canada, you must carry an axe, a premium Axe that is. But i must say i would still like to have that NL1, a beauty !

  • @66yurt Ah, your in BC too eh? Nice area I must say : )

Re. the axe, couldn't agree more. I actually picked up one of those Bark River Modified Wetterlings and it is just amazing! My current woods rig is a Fehrman Hoodhunter, Fehrman Peacemaker, Silky Zubat (from Paul) and the axe. Haven't run into any difficulties with that setup... IMO a saw is the most undercarried piece of kit.

  • @Quoiyaien - Ive never heard of the " Bark river Modified Wetterlings " before ? sounds nice. Yes, a saw is a must in many ways. Cheers
