  • Awsome, can I get one? :)

  • nife i love it!!!

    ;0

  • @MrFelt1000 I do to! :D

  • goes fast

  • Wonderful!!! My idea of a wonderful afternoon. Just having to mind the boiler, oiling, watching for other boats, and setting out for a picnic. away from the rat race.

  • And I who thought that steam power was a thing of the past - hell no way! Somebody clearly wanted me to think so though......hail the Kings and Queens of steam!!

  • @railrdr523 just another asshole on the web i guess...

  • HP and revs are probably 2 HP @ 500rpm at best. The blue hulled boat does about 6 HP @ 450 rpm.

  • engine hp and rpm please?

  • Both boats are privately owned and represent the ends of the range of trailable steam launches owned in the UK.There are slightly larger boats on Windermere.

  • is this boat yours or is it for hire?

  • Stunning!

  • I'd sell my limbs to own that..beuitiful boat

Anything steam is beutiful actually :)

  • Which for a beautiful steam ship

  • Was that the Avon Valley Railways River bridge you went under?

    Great video by the way!

  • @Firrboxfryup Sorry, don't know which railway it was.

  • Good idea! Oil will soon end, and what we have to do later? Even today fuel is very expensive. Steam machine can yet be powered by wood, straw, etc. etc. - everything what burns.

  • Absolutely beautiful!!

I'm building a 30 foot launch and am looking for an engine like yours. Any suggestions? I plan on using her on lake Superior in Minnesota when the waves aren't so bloody high.

    Great job!

  • @butch356 - Just got to keep looking in the magazines and on e-bay. A lot of us here build our own from castings that are on sale from various foundries.

  • If your still looking then try tinypower, they sell some great marine engines. Their site is: w w w . tinypower . com

  • @DAKOTA56777 Thanks!! They have the engine I'm looking for.

  • Happy to help.

  • Hello there,

I am very intrigued by this video, and the fact that I too, live on the Avon. The one fact is, how are you sailing on it? I swear there's a law that abides the land owner's use and that it is trespassing? We're not even aloud boats on the Avon down here in Salisbury! This man's been trying to find a way of finding a record that says the ban of boats etc on the Avon was lifted, and it will return boats and whatnot back to our area of the Avon.

My family has owned steam boats too.

  • The only way to travel. Owning a small steam launch is my lifetime ambition.

  • what type of boat is the blue one? It looks like the Edwardian 26'?

  • Yes and no! The basic design is Edwardian, but built to 29'-10" length.

  • she's a beautiful boat!

  • What's the heat source for an engine of this size?

  • Like most boats here it is coal fired, burning about 50 Kg , (say a hundredweight), per day.

  • Marvelous!

  • That's really interesting, I had no idea that small steam boats could travel that fast. Steam power is awesome. Nothing like chugging!

  • Same here! I thought they barely moved along, that things moving pretty darn fast! I want one....
