  • This scene was one of the reasons why I went into teaching.

  • you must be crazy squirt in yo face and then im swayze

  • Drop the pitch a few rpm, it's too fast.

  • Great song and hope everyone enjoys my music as well! Cheers, Layden Robinson

  • This scene is beautiful. I love watching it:)

  • 0:53 teachers like, whatever.

  • 2:07 left hanging

  • 1:23 ROADHOUSE!!!

  • I think that the first part 0:00 - 0:19 is really sexy, especially that donnie jumps and hits the ground exactly were the music starts, ahhhh.

  • This segment alone made me revisit TFF and a lot of other 80's classics. Also, many years after I first saw this film I still get freaked out by the flashbacks it created from time to time. Luckily, no jet engines have landed on me or anywhere near me so far. An absolutey Mega film!

  • I have no words to describe how it makes me feel...This film is different from the rest, the music, the mistery, everything it envolves. I've seen it a houndred times and I can't get tired of it, it's such an incredible story...I felt in love with Donnie, with Frank and even with the airplane xD When I watch it I feel different from the rest, I think it's magic. It's so sad but satisfactory at the same time.

  • Probably my favorite movie scene of all time

  • @regulatorzone Mine too. Mainly because I think this is the only instance (that I can remember) where they've used an entire song in a film scene.

  • @MsCrabella76

Yeah and all the shots work so perfectly with the song.

  • The first time I watched Donnie Darko I was on shrooms, Just happened to come across it on showtime about 8 years ago, loved it then. I still love it now!! :D

  • @effedupcamel True story, I was kinda freakin out but the movie had me completely paralyzed.

  • Breaking news: the song starts

"I wanted to be with you alone. And talk about the weather.

But traditions I can trace against the child in your piss..." wtfag?

  • THE LAST LINE IN THIS SONG SUMS UP THE MOVIE.

  • this song makes me feel awesome

  • Epic fail high five at 2:05

  • The point of this movie was that Frank woke Donnie up not as some mistake, but as a way of giving Donnie a few weeks of precious time to see that his life was not worthless as he thought. Remember, in those added two weeks he found love, made connections with his mother, father and sister as well as realizing his self worth.

The reason he was laughing in the end was because he remembered and understood everything that had happened and felt at peace with the end to HIS world or rather his life.

  • i love it!

  • fuck. everytime i watch this movie i can't help but get pissed off that they messed up that highfive.

  • 0:49 Seth Rogen the drug dealer

  • Yo Sam lets go back to 2007. This reminds me way too much of Northstar. The good old days where life and school were simple!!

  • 2:05 lamest high five ever in one of the greatest movies ever made haha

  • R.I.P Patrick

  • i friggin love this movie so much!!

  • 82 people are wearing stupid human suits

  • there is no other movie that can set great mysterious atmosphere like this.

  • Best fucking movie ever. By far!

  • 82 people never lived the 80ies!

  • @75kaspasian Yeah I was just thinking about that. I personally found the film to be dull due to the plot lacking depth so I think they set the film in the 80's so as to give it that nostalgia factor lol

  • OOOOKKKKKKKKKK?

  • Very self-destructive film. Donnie is forced to kill himself after Frank calls him out of bed (saving his life) and tells him that he must now save the timeline created by this new timeline. So now Donnie has to go back in time and make sure he never got out of bed.

Basically Frank created a problem that never would have existed if he hadn't involved Donnie in the first place. Frank's an asshole.

  • @tetris11boy, Because of your explanation, I finally understand the movie. I'm really glad I found what you said.

  • @LillyPickle3000 that's not the only problem either: the biggest mindjob comes from the fact that Frank is created(and sent back in time) when Donnie shoots him in the eye. This happens in the first timeline when Donnie is still alive. But Donnie is still alive because Frank made him get out of bed. But Frank made him get out of bed because he wanted Donnie to go back in time and NOT get out of bed (and die).

  • @LillyPickle3000 But this is impossible because the sequence of events I've described all rely on each other (i.e. the universe is in an infinite time loop - all events must happen and repeat forever, time doesnt exist outside the loop - to leave the loop is impossible because in such a universe freewill doesnt exist so the sequence of events is never broken.

So at the end when Donnie stays in bed, he's defying cause+effect (defying logic!), and that's why the movie's so great.

  • I like this song to bad its not on the cd.

  • She plays it so cool when she gets to pick what boy to sit by but I would have been like, "HOLY SHIT JOANIE MOVE YOUR ASS IT'S JAKE GYLLENHAAL."

  • RAD

  • The bully in the movie looks like a mix of Joe Jonas and Fabregas lawlz

  • 2:03 high five fail

  • This movie not only made me want to go gay for Jake Gyllenhaal, but also made my mind jizz hardcore over my own thoughts. Don't call me emo or anything, because I'm anything but. Anyway I always lived my life thinking one way until another way came in and changed the original one dramatically. Life can be lived in over a million different ways, and who is anyone in the world to say that their way is the right way? If a God is real, I want it to be somehting welcoming to everyone in their own way

  • @foreverspagetti my friend, that has to be the most powerful thing i have ever read on the net man, thankyou :)

  • @foreverspagetti your comment made me smile

  • @foreverspagetti i can relate to your comment 100% :D

  • @complete93til Drew is the teacher, rip patrick swayze is the guy who supposedly helps inspire ppl but turns out to be a paedo and i think noah was a teacher too, dont quote me on that 1 but how u missed drew shes in this video!!!

  • I Love this F-ing Movie! The ongoing theme here in this moment... Judgement! Judgement passes from person to person... watch it! Know it! Feel it! It ain't right, I say! But it's a Great piece... told in a Great way. Subliminally! :D Judging eyes Everywhere... and it's a reformed Catholic school... go figure :p lol

  • They should do a remake of this movie

  • @XGlovesversionme Please don't give anyone any ideas. Thank you.

  • @XGlovesversionme no they really shouldn't, what the fuck

  • this is my favourite scene out of any movie ever

  • this scene was a cinematic masterpiece

  • who's the actor sniffing cocaine?

  • @viralfunnies alex greenwald

  • @parentsupervision I'm not gay but that is one good looking guy

  • I keep on forgetting how good this movie is

  • THIS MOVIE USED THE CURE, ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN AND TEARS FOR FEARS BECAUSE ALL AMERICAN MUSIC IS SHIT, THE ONLY LISTENABLE STUFF IS GREATLY BRITISH INFLUENCED.

  • @Dale21166 thats very true my friend

  • @Dale21166 that's true, and also 'cause the music used was relevant in the time the film is set

  • @parentsupervision Yer that's correct as well, you are mighty fine btw just saw your pic, just paying a complement were one is due.

  • @Dale21166 ty

  • i think im a bit like the coke head guy

  • Tears for Fears was one of the greatest bands of the 80's!!!! Class of 86!!!! lol

  • drew barrymore, fucking genius

  • I may be biased growing up 3 doors away from Roland, but tff are 1 of the best bands ever.

  • I crapped my pants when I saw this for the first time,,

  • @MyraHindley84 You crap in your pants whenever you see a 3 min steady cam shoot in a high school setting accompanied by a rehashed 1980's hit?

  • Can't find the DVD to check this and it's bugging me; what's written on the schoolbus door at the start of this sequence? Looks something like... "Morrissey Rules" or something? (I know it ain't that).

  • This movie has all the best elements; great soundtrack (first and foremost), a baffling mystery, a hint of sci-fi, and a little romance.

  • cinematic genious

  • watch?v=oiK5vQrkkOo #DonnieDarkoDubstep

  • Nowadays, that teacher would've been out on her ass the next day for sexually mind-fucking that hot ginger. Or not.

  • man, this movie would've been pristine without Drew Barrymore

  • yeah that's my school

  • Favourite Song From Favourite Movie.

  • I'm starting to doubt your commitment to sparklemotion!

  • I wish my english class was like this...

  • I played this song on my ipod with my ear buds on during school. I acted like I was in a movie and man it was epic somehow I felt went into slow motion while walking to my next class and saying whats up to my friends by hand. My passing periods had never been so epic.

  • he's so attractive, i remmeber the first time i watched this i was like OHHH JAKE GYLENHAAL SO PRETTY, OH SHIT EVERYTHING JUST WENT BACK IN TIME

  • It's crazy how this looks like it should be the music video for this song

  • One of my favorite films. But every time I see it I come away with a different opinion of what it means. I know the director had an intent, but I prefer not knowing.

  • LOL this song this song .... HAD IT ON THE BRAIN FOR THE LAST 3WEEKS CANT GET ENOUGH partly my fault for having it on favorits and liking it evryday

  • THE PITCH IS OFF!!!

  • Awesome film clip. It's hilarious, especially when Jena has to pick her seat in class.

  • they don't make movies like this anymore....

  • @xolanna They don't make music like this anymore ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @xolanna yeah twiglight its madness bro - hehe

  • @xolanna thats a good thing - what a load of pretentious crap....

  • i love drew barrymores reaction to the girls dancing

  • 80 people need to CHUT UP!

  • Time does fly by :-)

  • THIS SONG <3

  • Typical Hollywood. They got most of it wrong but they got some of it right. This is why Johnny Depp never watches any of his movies.

  • @tlink166 What do you mean?

  • @tlink166 I mean that in general Hollywood coutdn't find it's ass with both hands. That it is a very closed, incestuous place. They try to communicate things they really don't know anything about because almost everyone in that town is at best an inept copy of a human being. Then you have a guy like Depp who plays roles exactly opposite of the way they wanted him to. It's really amusing and enteraining to watch. Amazing success and every time they say go right he goes left.

  • Donnie Darko, Waking Life, and if you like disturbing with your mind fuck Black Swan and Tideland

  • not full version

  • Let's be honest, we all rubbed one out at 1:54, am I right?

  • @GiantBlackPenis Sir, that is insanely hilarious. I guess your name says it all.

  • As a film student, one (of the MANY) thing I find remarkable about the way Richard Kelly tells his story is that every major character besides Donnie is introduced in a song sequence.

  • @BadlyDrawnRobot93 Yeah, it's truly brilliant. Even without words, you get some idea of the "us vs. them" relationship that exists at the school, with Principal Cole/Kitty Farmer (& Sparkle Motion)/Jim Cunningham on one side, and Karen Pomeroy/Dr. Monnitoff on the other.

  • fav part of the movie!

  • barrymore is hot

  • .51 SETH ROGEN Passing out the SNUFF!!

  • @hurleydare I think they put the pitch higher.

  • @MultiFunkalicious Not cool! :*(

  • thanks a billion

  • Is Seth Rogan sharing the coke, I mean wealth?

  • Favorite movie, favorite song. :D

  • its crazy, the bully kid does a bump and the beat goes on...Hhahah yea this move was good

  • AMAZING FILM. great story fo real

  • 79 ppl suck ass

  • I thought it was a good movie...but too many pseudo-intellectuals have attached themselves to it. They fail to realize a deep thought (no matter how simple) is far superior to a shallow thought (no matter how complex).

  • donnie darko looks like my beaner cousin from LA

  • This movie had the best soundtrack...this, Under the Milky Way, and Love Will Tear Us Apart, they all just blew me away when they came on.

  • That's a good one, comment below me

  • 79 people were murdered by frank the bunny... :D

  • @madbandicooot Except Frank doesn't kill people.

  • @BadlyDrawnRobot93 Good point. In fact, Frank the Bunny helps Donnie save the Primary Universe (or at the very least, planet Earth). Okay, how about "79 people were run over by (living) Frank and his red Trans-am"?

  • @FlingsPooAtTheZoo 75 people were touched by Jim Cunningham.

  • @BadlyDrawnRobot93 omg, that is fucking hillairous

  • @BadlyDrawnRobot93 I laughed so hard. That was a good one, you deserved the thumbs up!

  • @BadlyDrawnRobot93 i usually fucking hate when people make a comment including the number of dislikes, but this is too good :)

  • Ahhh, Donnie is sooo sexy. <3

  • What is it about this movie that's so incredible? Every time I watch it I walk away in awe of how amazing it was and I can't even say why.

  • This is the best shot in the whole film, oh my fucking shit it gives me goosebumps

  • This is definitely in a different key than the original. I listened to both versions playing at once and it sounded like a horror movie.

  • @greengorillaz It is in a different key. Cool, I will try that.

  • This WAS an epic movie. Do yourself a favor and don't EVER watch the Director's Cut. DC cuts are usually bad, but this version threw up all of the mystery.

    Frank the Bunny rules!

  • I was actually an extra in this movie!

  • Always bothered me how they never connect on the high 5...

  • @DailyDown CHUT UP!

  • @tninbredretard You beat me to it!

  • @DailyDown thats what i always thought lol

  • @DailyDown I thought it was on purpose. Was it not?

  • @DailyDown They didn't do the elbow stare >:(

  • Dammit! Just watching this little clip made me go watch the whole movie again...

  • great long take scene...

  • 1:09 , chut up.

  • love this scene and song

  • RIP Partick Swayze :(...

  • How can you NOT love this song?????

  • I love how it slows down when they talk, but speeds up when they walk... classic

  • excelente video, mañana en concierto santiago de chile, un gusto

  • i play this song before i go to highschool almost everyday!

  • If you never saw this awesome movie, go a head, buy it, rent it, download it or whatever you want but you really need to watch this 5 stars movie!

  • Greatest high five ever

  • SETH ROGEN

  • fantastic movie!

  • Is this in a higher key or am I crazy?

  • @uzioxix Sounds a little different to me too.

  • @uzioxix Yeah me and my friend noticed this. We thought it might be because they sped it up to fit with the cinematography.

  • Does anyone know where i can find the full length version of the music behind the last scene of this clip? Its quite beautiful and I would love to hear the full version.

  • @luque27 It's called "Gretchen Ross". It's part of the OST.

  • @luque27 It's called Gretchen Ross. You can buy the soundtrack...or download it.

  • lol "oh my gawd..."

  • Sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion.

  • jonnie sucks big time

  • Swayze can't be dead.

  • Exactly how does one "Suck a fuck"?
