@laffypaulie They're virtual soft touch buttons... The idea is that you don't have to feel them. And yes battery life is going to be poor with a screen that large, the iphones battery life sucks as well.

@WhaleMountain I upgraded to it from an Iphone 3G and I never am looking back! It WAY faster, though really, if you have a lot of apps on the 3G you won't be able to use them on the Surround, wich so far is the only drawback.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for Microsoft now, I have an iMac, and a HTC Desire Z so I'm not bias, but I think microsoft made a huge leap, granted it was onto the band-wagon but I think there choice to strip their operating system down to the bare bone and listen to consumers and slowly update and add more features onto the phone is smart. It has a way to go, but it is very sexy, and coming from an apple user that's saying something.

I can't see great improvements by nokia both in design and in the touch. by the time they release their new OS android will be updated, wp7 will be updated and even iOS will be updated. They will release an old OS and people will laugh at it.

Please don't judge cameras based on the Megapixel count, it only tells you the SIZE of the image, it has nothing to do with the quality. You're just playing the same game as the retailers that emphasize numbers on phones and other devices like Ghz and Megapixels. A real disappointment that professional reviewers do the same.

It's like watching the top speed number without realizing that it takes 20min to get there. On the PC side there have been over 3 Ghz processors for YEARS, but they still dwarf at the sight of a modern day 2 Ghz processor. As i said, clock speed isn't everything. The Desire Z is WAY faster than the old Desire even tho they have a 200 Mhz difference in clocks.

@esaedvik Yes, but you have to agree that USUALLY the higher the Ghz, the faster the phone. That may not always be the case but a phone with the snapdragon processor will beat most other phones with subordinate processors. Right?

@jacobthehero Snapdragon isn't a processor, it's a platform, a System On a Chip. vast number of high end smartphones have it but for example Motorola and Samsung use different platforms, so the performance isn't directly comparable by clock speed alone. And then there's different generations of Snapdragon's. And also phones with non-Snapdragon SOC's with different versions of ARM instructions sets (ARM v6 and v7 etc). So it's hugely more complex than just clock speeds that most tend to stare

The signal and battery indicators are a pain for me, so being able to hide them is a blessing. This is a very clean and simple OS, this suits it better than displaying the signal and battery indicators permanently.

Many people would disagree with me so an option to show it permanently it, would be more than welcome...

It's looks like the phone hasn't be used at all, devoid of any stored information. Shouldn't a review cover usage with data inside instead of just out of the box? Maybe setup a test account to populate with info so we can know more about normal operation instead of just after a fresh reboot.
