Trebel hooks get swallowed to easy but i still like to use them , i use bells and a real tight line, you gotta be fast to set the hook or they will more than likely swallow it, if they swallow it i will eat them, i cant throw them back.
This reminds me of fishing the delta in Stockton,CA. when I was a kid. Lots of fish, and I had forgotten that there are places they are wild. I miss the wild channel cats.
yea I almost always use circle hooks for catfish because they wont swallow it... It will hook right in the corner of the mouth. In this video it looks like I set it but I actually just make a few reel cranks which lodges the hook in the corner of the mouth. But i have set it on occasions and had hook ups.
You said you used a circle hook? I've always heard you don't have to set those, and I've lost fish when using them. I'm skeptical but i'm curious of your opinion
