  • are you supposed to lock you joints on any excersize it fucks ups ur joints my induction trainer said to not do it , i been doing gym for bout 3 months n a bit, in the middle of porky and begining toning.

  • Never lock your joint in any excercise, then you are resting the muscles that you are training.

    Resting is what you do BETWEEN sets, not IN the sets.

  • So when you do them incline as shown above, you don't have to worry about having your elbows in for good form? (where on the flat bench you do have your elbows in )

  • Yes It did that for me too when I first starting doing them.

    Perhaps one of the three heads of the triceps is "underdeveloped" and is aching when it is finally used in an exercise. Mine ached for 2-3 days when I first tried the Skullcrusher.

  • No, in fact, after the fist couple weeks or a routine you shouldnt end up sore at all(unless you add in new exercises). Google delayed onset muscle soreness.

  • It hurts the most after 2 days. It hurts less when you have done the exercise a couple of times. I change my scheme when I have had them for about 2-3months. When I'm training new excerices my muscles get real sore after training the first weeks. :)

  • skull crushers and the french press are basically the same thing right?

  • skull crushers are done lying down and the bar is brought down to the forehead and back up. French press can be done at any angle (standing up all the way to lying on a decline bench) and the bar is brought behind the head as in the video.

  • on lower reps i usually do, but for higher reps I don't quite lock them out so that there is constant tension. but then again its all personal preference.

  • Indeed, I can only do 95lb(45lb bar with 25lb plates). I believe Marius pudzinowski did 150lb or so.

  • ive never really tested how much i can do. im new to french press though, usually i do the cable tricep pulldown, but i guess its time i switch that up. Dont wanna plateau

  • I don't think one is better than another, it's just a variation of the same exercise. Sometimes I do them flat, incline, upright or even decline. I try to mix it up

  • skull crushers and usually lying, incline, decline or flat, lowering the bar towards your forehead, french press is standing or seated, lowering the bar behind your head.
