Developers should focus on usability, instead of inventing new annoying stuff all way long. Just tried the newest opensuse, but after all I'll stick to debian, thats by far easier and more stable, even if the software is not the newest one...
Suse and allmost all the other distributions have become almost unusable in the newer versions with those insane desktops and other "innovations. I have really tried, but I am now back to opensuse 11.2, despite the security risk and other problems that arise from the unavailability of updates. This is a major problem for me. Do I really have to go back to Windows?
The easiest way is to tap "super" or "windows" button and after that write in the search bar "advanced settings" after that just switch "ON" " Have file manager handle the desktop" from "desktop" menu. That is all :D
New kde and gnome is terrible. Im testing for 6months kde4 and two weeks gnome3.. MS windows have much better interface. Thanks god for old KDE 3.5 and windows managers like fluxbox.
i can see on this video terminal shortcut on his desktop , can anybody tell me how to put it there?
cause it looks like shortcuts for apps are very difficult to do in new gnome3, butwait i saw a video with right click "create launcher" , but it desnt exist in suse 12.1
@skilo1983 they aren't really going down. they are trying stuff that actually are different....good job for trying something else than mixing windows and mac os in a cup
I don't like it much either but, give them some time..
I going to try not to use desktop icons, just because I have a lot of files (many of them I think exist in another place) and a folder called "Desktop_5" that contain more files and other folder called "Desktop_4"... and I am starting to think that something is wrong with that :p
This happens if people have just no Idea of what they are doing. And on top: talk about those things they don´t have any ide of . . . BEst part: registry is coming to linux . . . very funny at all . . .
In opensuse 12.1 there is a tool called gnome-tweak-tool, so you can do that much easier. I don't like icons on my desktop, but it's all about choice, isn't it
In Ubuntu 11.10, that feature is "enabled" by default. No need to go to dconf. Backgrounds and icons can be easily changed in Gnome 3. openSuse needs to enable it by default, before shipping it out.

gnome 3 sucks

Its funny how it took you like 2 minutes to find dconf in gnome shell lol on gnome 2 you could have found it with one click.
Its really disapointing to see linux going down hill with this gnome shell and unity nonsense.
