  • through what route is it possible to purchase this tablet in canada as a student? it seems perfectly fix for my daily work but on the official website it says they only provide solution to corporation.

  • @HuangQiaoqiao Contact Motion Computing and they will tell your where to purchase in Canada.

  • very good

  • can we play wow on this?pls let me know pls pls pls

  • How to upgrade my Windows XP Tablet to Windows 7 Tablet? I got a lenovo X61 Tablet should I do the upgrade through Microsft on the web or is there a better way?

  • Hint - unlock taskbar, left-click, hold, move it to the left, lock taskbar.

It looks much less intrusive on the left side of the screen than underneath.

Also, gah, register your office before making a presentation. Please!

  • @andreasaatte And that's the beauty of a windows tablet isn't it! You can do it your way, and i'll continue to do it the way I prefer to! Love it!

And yes, I should have edited that office activation out... oh well. Publish or perish. Feel free to show us all how to do it better!

  • @andreasaatte

Even with a desktop or laptop, I've been using the taskbar on the side for years. Especially with Windows 7 since the space allocated with each icon is so wide even when using small icons. I use the right side, however, since I'm right-handed. It makes everything so much quicker and easier.

  • @Tom195M Still not a fan of taskbar on the side although many are... But imagine using an OS that doesn't allow you to customise pretty much anything! Go Windows!

  • it needs a little more memory cuz i need to use programs via vmware player that would use every gb of this great thing, but i would like to use this thing as a kind of ipad to watch videos and play games. like wow.

  • @deniz11muis1 8Gb not enough?

That said, this is not a gaming machine... you'll want dedicated graphics to play games.

  • Can you connect this to a projector? That would be very handy for presentations. Also, I see a lot of people complain and say that Windows 7 is a laggy interface (especially on handheld devices). I never had a chance to try it, so I don't know. What are your thoughts on this?

  • @blakspyder This tablet is lightning fast, so you can assume that people who say windows is laggy on a handheld device might be talking about Intel Atom based devices - steer clear of those!

This tablet can connect directly or wirelessly to a projector with ease. It is ideal for presentations and a lot of university lecturers use them here in Australia.

  • @oztabletpc I never thought of that. I'll keep it in mind.

That's good to know. Thank you.

  • no no wait until windows 8

  • @Randomguy578 No no, Windows 7 is awesome on a tablet so there is no need to wait! Watch the video Randomguy578!

  • wow

  • Work tool my ass, i'd better do my physics projects at home with a normal laptop than an oversized PDA

  • @eivis13 That comment tells me that you don't work at all... So I guess this wouldn't suit you. It would actually be more accurate to call it an undersized PC than an oversized PDA... but that still wouldn't be right. Apart from the tablet form factor it has no resemblance to a PDA at all.

  • @oztabletpc i called it an oversized PDA cause of the touch screen and windows OS

  • @eivis13 It's a stretch. Never saw Windows 7 Professional on a PDA.

  • is it multi touch?

  • @MidnightFlamesMusic Sure is. It has a Wacom Active Digitizer and a 5 point capacitive (multi-touch) screen.

  • The God of touch devices:

    - Asus Transformer Prime Eee Pad

    And its Holy Spirit:

    - Windows 8

When I buy the two I will have the only touch device on the market to have reached perfection.

  • @johnyringoz Sounds good.. if a little sacreligious! hehe

  • @johnyringoz how about Acer Iconia Tab W500? or Asus ee pad slider or Acer inspiron duo? can you help me, i don´t know wich is better. I am also looking for a windows tablet-notebook

  • @Claudioman2009 Personally I would choose none of those. For a windows tablet to be really useful you'll want a Wacom Active Digitizer Pen as well as the touch screen. Look at ASUS Ep121 or Samsung Slate 7 for personal use. For business use, look at the Motion J3500 or F5v.

  • @oztabletpc thanks!! :) , but i don´t like detachable keyboards, i prefer them to be always at hand. i was also thinking about: Lenovo S10-3t , Panasonic Toughbook C1, Samsung Sliding PC 7 tx100. But don´t know. i think the lenovo is good. Any idea?

  • @Claudioman2009 The Lenovo and Samsung you mentioned do not have a Wacom Active Digitizer Pen = waste of time! Toughbook does, but is a bit of a mediocre design. Asus T10 and Gigabyte also do not have Wacom Pen / Touch. Not worth it in my opinion. Go with Fujistu if you don't want a slate.

  • @oztabletpc Fujistu lifebook T730 or something like that? NICE ! thanks!

  • @oztabletpc maybe ASUS Eee pc T10M or GIGABYTE Booktop T1132...maybe. i don´t like to detach the keyboards. :) .

  • @johnyringoz Does the Asus Transformer , have a pen digitizer ?

  • @roffpoff No, sorry it does not.

  • @oztabletpc Thanks, Even if it does not, do the transformer enables you to make use of a pen , and is it a special type or brand of pen that is used ?

  • @roffpoff No, the pen shown here is an active digitizer pen made by Wacom. These require specific hardware.

  • Is there any Window 7 Tablet PCs out, that are around 17 inches?

  • @kingsidorak No sorry. 17" is not considered to be portable, but you will find desktops with touchscreens over that size. You can also use the Wacom Cintiq and Pen Displays over that size for the same experience.

  • @oztabletpc That kind of sucks, there should be a line of tablets designed more for power users, and artist.

Is there any tablets you would recommend, that are preferably over 10", run Windows 7, and can handle Adobe Photoshop without lagging?

  • @kingsidorak Try this, the ASUS Eee Slate Ep121 or the new Samung Series 7 Slate. The Fujitsu T901 is a powerhouse Core i7 Gen II convertible tablet with a 13" Wacom display that would also run photoshop well, although it is bigger than a typical slate, therefore less portable.

  • dang its bigger than an ipad thats huge

  • @darius2quick32 Ok, so you're comparing a ruggedized Intel Core i7 laptop replacement tablet PC with an iPad. Like comparing a Mini to a Mack Truck. One makes you look cool, the other exists to work. Back to Angry Birds for you...

  • @darius2quick32 Of course it is, it got an i7, fullsize usb and I think HDMI

PC tablets are made to be more functional then iPads that are made for entertainment

  • why is it so much money.. id rather have an ipad?

  • @MRRBKILL Dude, you're so in the wrong place. This is a tablet for people who need to run Windows programs on tablets, particualrly in the field. It is a rugged tablet with an Intel Core i7 processor, not a mobile phone blown up big.

Do yourself a favour and go buy an Android Galaxy Tab 10.1 instead of an iPad. It is much nicer and you'll be better off long term.

Meanwhile, those of us getting things done will continue to work on our windows tablets.

  • @oztabletpc buy an ipad and you will see how much better it is....

  • @MRRBKILL I bought an iPad the first day it came out. What about you? What is your expertise? I suppose you have windows and android tablets too?

  • Hi .. I have a question about this device.

What will happen if the windows system crashes on it? How would you be able to install a new windows on it?

  • @BravoMo1982 Super easy via USB key or DVD drive.

  • @oztabletpc I know that you can install a Windows system by that way. But if the windows system crashes then all usb ports wont work and they need to be verified again. I have a laptop and if the windows crashes or like major error that stops the windows from working then the USB ports will not work at that time. Only the DVD player will do. In this case that external DVD player need to be attached to the USB port again which is probably won't work if the windows crashes.

    Thank you

  • @BravoMo1982 If USB ports don't work then you have faulty hardware. lt's not a problem with Windows. You need to send your computer to the manufacturer's service center for repair.

  • @oztabletpc Thank you very much

  • Does it have a cd drive

  • @Nathaniel12345678910 Not an internal drive, you can plugin an external DVD or Blue Ray.

  • Why invent a computer that you have to crane your neck over to work on?? It's stupid, and damaging to your neck and back. The body wasn't designed to be put in such an awkward position. What's wrong with the laptop? Why not just improve the laptop?

  • @1Thompsonmusic Spoken like a cubie. People work in all sorts of places. Hey, I use my tablet as a laptop when I'm at the desk. But when I'm in the car, on a plane, walking around a jobsite etc, a laptop is completely impractical. It doesn't fit well and it is ergonomically bad. A tablet fits well in that situation and that's before we get into drawing and sketching - which is impossible to do on a laptop. Think beyond yourself.

A tablet is not for everyone, and obviously it is not for you.

  • @oztabletpc

It should have a stand at the back so you can prop it up.

  • I really like your videos. Thank you for your extended work on tablets. What sort of pen would you recommend to use on tablets.

Se misca in timp real. Am Windows 7 si Office 2010, arhisuficient pentru ce fac eu.

Nu le fac publicitate dar puteti sa cautati pe google masini virtuale techtrad

    V-am salutat!

  • @evlhck Sorry my romanian friend, but a virtual PC is a pretty poor solution all round for mobility. It is the digital equivalent of an electric cord mower... Why not just take a PC with you that is a tablet! No need for a massive abstraction that will leak at every opportunity (research the law of leaky abstractions) .

Remote desktop on an iPad is a terrible excuse for computing and I have never met anyone who has used it long term. The solution just doesn't need to be that complicated.

  • Hello, Do you recommend this tablet as a sort of netbook for school?? only for : excell, word, acces and other office pro programs ?? + exploring on the web, watching vidz and doing low power things you can do with a laptop. And a little gaming too, cuz i saw vidz of this tablet running wow, starcraft and more.. i know the ssd is kinda small but one big game would fit in the ssd. so.. : gaming, using for school, surfing the web, watching vidz. is this tablet good for my needs?

  • @deniz11muis1 It's not a gaming machine (due to the onboard graphics), but I've seen many students use these for school.

  • Q tal corren los juegos jaja lo q no me convence es el teclado virtual como q storba la vista de la ventanaa mmmm

  • cuanto vale el tablet con windows 7

  • I so want sth with touch screen! :'( :'(

  • Best review that finally addresses the work applications aspects of windows on a tablet rather than what you rightly said gestures apps etc- thanks Brett!

  • Can this run GTA IV ?

  • @kinkin19962003 It's for professional work, not for gaming

  • Now,i can handle gta iv cars with motion sensor..Yupiee

  • I forgot to ask, is there a demo video where you play video or youtube?

  • Thanks very much Oz, this has educated me alot on PC and I'm some one who is very used to desktop. I'm currently deciding whether or not to buy an ASUS Laptop or a Windows 7 tablet

  • But the question we all want to know, is can it play minecraft? :|

  • Yes. All I can say is THANK you.

    Robert

  • go for mac book pro 2011.... !! If it costs..$1300.. then mac book should be the option to be considered !!

  • @93coolguru You can't write on a Mac Book Pro. Think you might be in the wrong place because this video is not about boring ol' laptops...

  • @oztabletpc you are right. I would rather talk about Alien ware if this guy is talking about stupid mac pro.

  • @93coolguru I would rather buy an Alien ware with that money.

  • @93coolguru or I could buy a powerful gaming laptop and not waste 1300 dollars on a computer with half the functionality thrown out the window. and why are you here anyway? this is a tablet review.

  • @Gabetheoptimist a gaming laptop ?you must be joking dude. There is no such thing. And if there is a "gaming laptop" its an absolute lie. It would set your house on fire bro... :D

  • @MsGiedris haha... true... sort of. Depends what games you play.

  • @oztabletpc ahh, if you play flash games its good but in other cases it sucks :D sorry for bad english i'm drunk at the moment :D

  • @MsGiedris Well yes, but I find most RTS games do work fine on laptops too. Perhaps not some of the really high end 3D gaming. You need a good dedicated graphics card to have a chance. This tablet does not have that, but the Fujitsu T901 tablet now does have an NVidia Optimus card.

  • @MsGiedris I don't know what world you live in but gaming laptops are pretty common these days. I have a good one and it runs everything perfectly. Of course you're probably trolling but in case you're just ignorant I'm explaining this to you. Oh and I saw a comment about buying an alienware, little point getting one tbh unless you just have money to waste. You can get laptops more powerful than them for cheaper.

Windows 8 tablet is looking good atm. I'll need to get a go of one at some point

  • nice review

  • talk louder

  • And u can plug in wireless keyboard and mouse yes? because my wireless mouse and keyboard uses only 1 usb port. And how much usb ports it have? And yes, one thing, can it run photoshop?

  • @gytis156 This one has 2 USB ports on the unit, and a further 4 on the dock. It can absolutely run photoshop.

  • @Anime25Fan It's not really a games machine since it does not have dedicated graphics...

  • @oztabletpc would it run minecraft? at least it should run runescape.

  • @gytis156 Runescape runs fine. Not sure about Minecraft since I don't know what it is.

  • hello ipad webos lovers lol

  • hi >>

please tell me what the best tablet pc system windows7 ?

i want one but i dont know what the best

    best wishes

  • @alaalovecan Depends on what you want to do with it. There are over 100 good options to choose from!

  • @oztabletpc do you know of a good one that can run scientific weather modeling, rendering algorithms, fluid dynamics, engineering 3D content creation software pretty smoothly?

  • @viscon2011 Perhaps the new Fujitsu T901 with NVidia Optimus graphics would be good for you.

  • @oztabletpc hmmm just what I needed thanks!

  • Now, this is one practical demonstration rather than talk.

    Thank you.

    Convinced.

  • Hi Tabletpc - we have just launched a new site in the UK to provide information on the Stylistic Q550 - see: all the w's followed by ukdotfujitsudotcomforwardslashSTYLISTIC - enjoy :)

  • @FujitsuUK Hi FujitsuUK, hope you've seen my Q550 video. Great product.

  • Touch devices for 20 years???

  • @delfiin101 You bet. Suprised? Think outside of your iPad... It's been over 20 years since I worked on our first touch screen kiosk with a big (for the time) NEC touch CRT monitor. It wasn't a new concept then. Tablets themselves have also been around 20 years. Ever wonder where the name thinkpad comes from? It was a tablet.

  • Instead of this Windows 7 Tablet PC...I think I'd rather go for the Dell Inspiron Duo...seeing as that one has a flippable screen and it actually has a keyboard...to actually write documents...the onscreen keyboard just ain't gonna cut it for that, agree?

  • @LChanDesuDesu Maybe. However this tablet has a clip on laptop style keyboard and a desktop docking station. Also, handwriting recognition and on-screen keyboards are really for use when a keyboard is not practical. As far as convertible tablets go, personally I stick with Fujitsu. Much better than Dell IMO. Check out Fujitsu T901.

  • @oztabletpc Ok, well, there ya go. So it has handwriting recognition. That changes things.

  • @oztabletpc The Fujitsu T901 is way too expensive for me though, and I don't need all those fancy stuff like an i7 processor and 8gb of RAM...cause I have a PC...

  • can u connect a usb mouse in it?

  • @DragonKid562 it has a usb port

  • The ipad is not as powerfull as this but the ipad features a native os which is very good compared to windows 7 on a tablet... If. You want to make a good tablet it needs a native os or a os version for touch

  • @rct096 That's true up to the point where you need to actually do something ... Then it all falls apart. Need to knock out a quote? Sign a document? Fill out a form? Markup a plan? The reality is that those things can be done easily in windows on a tablet, but not easily in a new o/s with very few apps that have any depth. Also, native windows 7 on a tablet is about a million times more usable than remote desktop from a pad/tab which many people get stuck with when trying to get things done...

  • Every device has the speed of their user

  • gawd i stopped watching half way coz of this guys irritating auzi accent

  • @Kiashanmo Are you trying to start an accent war Suth Afrrriiicarne? By the way, I don't have an accent, you do ;-P.

  • @oztabletpc You're awesome Mr. Oz... Your accent is nice and not irritating at all

  • so SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW !!

    Get a iPad !

  • @erosxp1 150 x the processing power of iPad 2. Zoom is slow and who freakin' cares? If you want to get fat on your couch surfing the web and prefer a mediocre browsing experience, get an iPad. If you use a tablet to do actual work, you'll want one of these Intel Core i7 babies!

  • @oztabletpc Eric thats a good one :D You totally bombed that Apple fan :D

  • @oztabletpc As the tablets are barely used for accessing the cloud / remote apps and viewing and basic editing -sending documents, is the raw power of i7 enough to make it productive? e.g. using it for fine drawing on Adobe Illustrator, Advanced video editing on AfterEffects and Premiere, or working on huge graphic files - or using AutoCad on a working field to view a drawing - like a complete desktop PC ? - while a lot of productive apps need a keyboard to use the tools effectively -

  • @acharad No, it's not simply the processor, it's the real apps that it allows you to run. For example, I use an excel spreadsheet with macros in it. Can't do that in a cloud app or an iPad type device without developing an app. i.e. I have the full desktop environment at my disposal but with the ability to type to write at 35 wpm, or dock and type at 60 wpm when I'm in the office - all on one device.

  • cooooooool

  • Why is everyone making tablets???

  • @saraluvspie Yeah, like Motion Computing who have been doing it since 2001! Who knows?

  • @saraluvspie Portability, No one wants to be stuck behind a desk all day if they don't have to.

  • @SupaPoopaScoopa Too true!

  • @saraluvspie Because they're friggin sexy.

  • paaste...lol gotta love that accent

  • @TheSAEkid paaaste!

  • can you please review the acer w500? NOT the a500:) im 16, and i travel by bus for over 2 hours a day, i really like movies and gaming, do you know the best tablet for me?

  • @rzaapie Sorry, not my thing really. I focus on pen tablets and productivity tools for business. Acer has no Active Digitizer Pen, so while it will be cool for watching movies, it won't be much of a productivity tool.

  • @rzaapie thanx for the reply:) ok, well then can you reccomend me a tablet that does have windows 7, isnt too expensive and will be helpfull for school?

  • @rzaapie ASUS EP121, Motion CL900 or Fujitsu Q550, all worth a look.

  • @oztabletpc thanks man!:)

  • Macromedia flash.....oh yeah, it would be easier on tablet :D

  • Is there a newer version of this tablet?

  • 4 people dont like touching;(

  • your windows is not activated

  • @tougandoche It's office actually! Thanks for noticing... ;-)

  • @oztabletpc Np

  • They have alot of these at my school, for like math classes, except they use windows xp

  • How much does it cost

  • Thanks for the presentation. Does it have Wi-Fi/3G ?

  • @hodoboc yes, it has both.

  • I'm guess that this costs a little less than an ipad...when it's a pc that's well adapted to tablet functions when the ipad is just a pimped up ipod touch.

  • Awesome !

  • Again, great videos. That touch scrolling was a _damn_ nice work flow feature when producing an RFP response a few weeks ago. Definitely made such a menial task (the RFP, I mean!) more pleasurable.

  • @g00dn3t Excellent to hear real world feedback! The pen / touch combo is awesome isn't it!

  • @oztabletpc It is! Touch/pen combo makes for a great input when reading/analyzing lots of documentation in MS Word, Excel, OneNote and PDF. Plus, 100% access to all documents & tools in meetings via the less-obtrusive pen/touch increases focus on demonstrating capability, backing up specific claims & guaging interest levels with certain personality types of customers.

  • How long does it last on a charge?

  • @dylanfleck This one, around 6 hours. Others, up to 14 hours.

  • processing power:- I agree with the prediction that these things will be connected devices used in conjunction with servers. No point trying to make mobile devices compete with the superior processing & storage of desktops & servers.. (although it would be great!)

you always seem to pay through the nose for miniaturization, lightness

(eg compare sony Z-series, to sony E-series, to desktop PC)

  • @walter0bz I disagree. When I go mobile (every day) I want a device that can do every thing that I ask of it. I am in business, this is not theoretical. I do not want to have to go away and plug into a PC every 10 minutes, that is not mobility. I also cannot maintain a constant connection in order to achieve anything. That's simply not possible in the real world.

Anyway, this video is about Windows and this is off topic. I suggest you create your own video regarding processor choice.

  • 'real apps' - genuinely curious:-

in your opinion, what are the gaps in the iOS & android app stores that you observe

  • @walter0bz Anything complex. Want to work on a spreadsheet with links and formulas? Interact with Exchange server public folders. Access your files without conduits, workarounds, multiple install points. etc...

  • @oztabletpc

    >>Want to work on a spreadsheet with links and formulas? I

manipulate or use. This is an interesting point: for my line of work even a laptop is a poor replacement for a desktop as you need large amounts of screen realestate and 'as much processing power as you can possibly get'. Thats because whatever computing tech can deliver, developers need to manipulate that. But there's something fundemental in the UI too: 2 hands are needed to type & navigate.

  • @walter0bz When I'm in the office, I have the tablet on the dock at 1280x800 plus extended desktop to the monitor attached to the dock at 1980x1024. It has a Core i7 processor so it functions both as a desktop replacement and a go anywhere solution. Personally I have never used a laptop without some sort of dock and external monitor when I'm in the office. This Tablet gives me the best of both worlds.

  • @oztabletpc

there are graphically edited shader editors for CG, but textural shaders are always more powerful.

This is why I suspect we'll stick with complex work done sitting down with both hands, concentration away from you physical navigation in an environment, distraction of a changing world. Work done in an "organization" usually means a network and specialized functions in there.

I have no *need* for mobility but carrying an ipad as toy+second monitor +laptop is a practical option

  • @walter0bz Thanks for your thoughts. Using this sort of tablet by no means precludes using a keyboard and mouse (I use them 100% when in the office). Rather the Tablet gives me additional modes of input like handwriting, note-taking, sketching and direct navigation that you cannot achieve with a mouse.

I think you should consider that not everyone works like you do. I also don't suggest that a Tablet is right for you. Unlike Apple we are very comfortable in a world of multiple choice.

  • @walter0bz Here's a good example. Every tried to work on email while on an airline flight? iPad will not allow me to move or delete emails while I'm disconnected. I regularly delete, file and process several hundred emails on one flight that I take every month. I usually get 20-30 emails out, many of them as handwritten notes... There's no other platform that allows me to do this, but it absolutely invaluable to my business.

  • @oztabletpc - I guess you must like win8.

I have to admit it started to make more sense to me, their tiles UI is a good idea.

I would much prefer a real machine that can be used for propper development work when plugged into mouse+keyboard. (octocore arm could be nice).

  • @oztabletpc

(i)"Show me another platform that has even a remote possibility of replacing paper. "

(ii)"My Windows tablet also has over two hundred times more processing power than.."

Q: How much processing power do you need to replace Paper :)

I would *really* like a tablet that has the same 'resolution & lack of parallax as paper though

  • @walter0bz Really that's the wrong question. The only reason that we need to stick with Windows is software support and pen support accross the whole OS. Whether you like Wintel or not, it is the only platform that does this.

Personally I could not care a *bit* about which processor runs the machine. With pen support, Google may be on track with Android, Apple are nowhere to be seen. Even Microsoft do some amazingly dumb things in this area. However, the fact remains that they do it.

  • arm + new tablet AI evolving from phones is a real opportunity to shake off evolutionary baggage that wintel has, pushing windows and/or x86 for tablets really isn't helping the world.

  • @walter0bz Show me another platform that has even a remote possibility of replacing paper. Thanks for trying to save the world, but Windows Tablets have completely replaced paper in my business.

My iPad on the other hand is already obsolete and gathering dust... My Windows tablet also has over two hundred times more processing power than the iPad and it goes with me everywhere. So thanks again, but I don't need your ARM, I'm quite happy with the fully productive mobility setup that I have.

  • @oztabletpc

Microsoft themselves have anounced windows for ARM for a good reason, they know full well that x86 legacy apps are a bottleneck.

Computing took a wrong turn when IBM adopted 80x86 instead of 68000, and this is a chance to set things right with a decent architecture.

Also see the interest in using ARM for servers.. absolute necessity as energy starts getting more expensive post peak oil.

I could almost claim your promotion of X86 is an act of environmental terrorism!

  • @oztabletpc -

In the case of servers, ARM Is actually more applicable because many, slower cores are more suited to multi-user apps. My experience is with game-consoles where I've encountered many alternative CPU architectures in domains where efficiency is paramount, bad sadly they've been steamrollered out of mainstream computing.

ARM doesn't have same peak perf as intel but with properly threaded code (world will get more with advances in programming languages) that will change.

  • is this better then the ipad

  • @MrAloo14 If you want a true PC device in a tablet form, then yes.

  • 20 yrs device's tablet's bloody hell

im 19 you ve been using device's older then me
