and this 3rd rail is due to the huge amount of traffic as you can see that train are increrased in almost every rail budget and this section is sharing two main lines(trunk lines):
1. delhi munbai via kota
2. delhi to south(bangalore, chennai, secundrabad, nagpur etc)

Why is the new (3rd track) being laid? For goods or shunting or sidings?

@bhushan80 Hopefully someone will give the right answer. It is definitely not for shuting as I saw it between stations for many 10 miles.

@csongorvarga delhi - ghaziabad section is facing the same problem of sharing more than one main lines as in delhi matura section
