Matthew Barney is creative, but he's also very scatterbrained and can't explain his own art. I think the interviewer explained it better than he did.

I've seen your post for many months now, and I agree that Barney is very scatterbrained, but I feel completely comfortable in saying that his Cremaster Cycle is brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. The most fascinating artwork I have seen In years. I expect disagreement, but I don't care. I have seen The full Cremaster Cycle and have been astonished ever since. Barney's interviews don't give much weight to his work, but his brilliance is unexpected and gorgeous. It's my opinion, that's all.

I agree. I also think that Barney is attempting to explain so much allegory, symbolism, philosophy, religion, and social structures through such a limited media of expression. He is also a synesthete and that makes it difficult to express crossed sensation and thought. I think the Cremaster Cycle is one of the most profound artistic installation in modern history. It is profound only if we choose to find the profundity in the art. A receiver must be open to receive.

i think its like being lost in thought

stuck in creative mode or something, who knows if its not colorful it may be hard to speak especially communicating from that off world

someone outside may see the whole picture while the person creating is somewhere lost in another part of it
