  • Hey buddy would you mind telling me what mods you needed to do to the stock frame to get the Sonix motor to fit?

  • Does this motor have enough power for a 450 which is heavier than the Blade 400? I want my 450 to have tons of power, but don't want to splurge on an Align or Scorpion motor.

  • I like this video. great shooting.

  • hi i just bought the sonix 3500 motor with a 11t and a 13t pinion after i blew a bearing in my stock eflit motor i am hoping ti keep the stock esc and still use the stock lipo in doing this can you tell me what is the best configuration for this setup like 11t or 13 t and any other setting i might have to change in the radio settings ?? thanks

  • the 11t will keep the head speed at about 2800 which is great. the 13T will give just over 3000 great for quick manuvers. i didnt get to test the stock esc with it as muchh as i would have liked. as far i can tell it preformed well. going with a lower T pinion may help keep the strain off the esc.

  • hey thanks for all the help i managed to pull the motor swap off ok with all your help from the video's you have up and some of the other heli freak guys. This r/c heli thing i got myself into its fun but crap won't stop breaking. i find your videos very informative its great to learn from someone who speaks from a aviation background it works for me because i am a private pilot with some hours in r22 and your ways of explaining is familiar to me thanks

  • i just got my blade 400 about 5 days ago and the stock batterry does not last long. what batterry are you useing there and do you have to change the connectors?

  • shave the plastic ridge to get the cyclic rate up to 5.5 degrees max deflection. ??? r you talking abowt the balllink hiting the botum of the blade grip u want me to shave of the rased up line all the way down or. do i just flip the grips or . do i need to flip the bell hiller mixer arms and the seesaw to. i just dont under stand i gess i will have to wait for you to make a vide on it lol

  • hi sokal i was jus wondering if you have dun that blade grip flip mod and if u r using it in this video . and if your not how r you back fliping your blade so fast . my blade flips so sloe theres so much time for error so i want to make it flip faster idid the swash mix thing . got c f blades and that motor. o and im talking abowt my stock blade 400 . i justgot new blade motor esc and i have outrage xp 25c 30c 35c all have the power i need . so what can i do to flip/role faster ?

  • yes that is with the grip flip mod

be sure to shave the plastic ridge to get the cyclic rate up to 5.5 degrees max deflection.

  • @sokal11 hey sokal, when you say shave the plastic ridge are you talking about the ridge on the bottom (when flipped) of the blade grip that hits the flybar cage pushrod?

  • my blade is all carbon fiber i have 13 flights on my blade with the sonix motor. was going up and down fast and i heard a sound . down went my blade i hit the throttle and got it down . i looked at it and i stripped 1/2 the main gear

what am i doing wrong my throttle cerv is at 80 head speed is not that fast

i have a 12 /12 pich do you think thats it

    i have a 12 t on motor

  • your pinion may be the wrong pitch or gear mesh may be loose/tight

thier should be a very small amount of play between the gears make sure motor is not sliding fwd on you.

12 deg of pitch is a lil much personally 11 is max for me 10 is perfect

  • Hey sokal i got the hs-65s the gy520 and the 9257 all hooked up and it works fantastic i got a video up showing them its labeled sprint picture though because it was uploaded from my phone i will make some flight videos soon check it out thanks sokal

  • $130 for esc motor and battery . if i get good flight time it will be worth it . this motor rocks i had to tern my throttle curve down a little lol i have the cnc Corbin fiber frame so i need the power . and i got more then i need with this motor. thanks sokal

  • i got a align 35a . i did not want to burn my stock esc .and i had to buy a 2200 25c battery. my 1800 and 2200 15 c last 2 mi if that in 3d mod i know the knew battery will last longer but i did not get to try it . i did fly it at my lhs with a 2200 20c for 3 mi to windy out but it lasted longer so i got a 25c.well

  • your getting that head speed with a 11 t . my motor and esc get worm fast i did not fly it yet just spun it up in 3d and WOW THE POWER . its nuts i hope my blades don't go flying off . i hope the 11 cools things down going to lhs and geting that 11t gear . thanks

  • in the vid its a 13T

    the 11 will help

but you may have other issues

    like belt tention and gearmesh

also if u added better elec like HS servos they pull more amps then the stock esc will handle witch will heat it up. and eventually put the esc in to thermal shut down to help protect it

  • got my motor in .all cnc had was a 13 t and its to long had to lift the motor with washers. also had to shave a corner off the front of the mount still to tight had to make the motor mount holes longer by a tick . i hope i get to try it soon. SOKAL did you have to do the same thing . and were did you get the 12 t ?

  • i shaved the motor mout flat on one side

and made a new notch on the motor shaft to get pinion up higher

i got the 11T from CNC

  • what do i need / need to do to install that motor i have a cnc carbon fiber frame .

thanks for all the helpful vids /best b400 videos on the net. you keep me and allot of ppl flying . and were did you here of the sonix motor ?and for my 3 ? lol how r you terning up the pitch from your dx6i

  • for the cnc frame you will need to shave some of the mout on the front side to get a good gear mesh.

as for the sonic motor i have been looing at the cncheli web site for a very long time. and have seen them advertise. so a frien picked one up and i tested it.

as for changing pitch swashmix adj range of an axis evenly on both sides of the range. so i just turned up the pitch setting 10 oor so is usually about 1 degree

  • Got my sonix today in the mail... pretty quick. I've installed it, with the 13T pinion, and took it out under the street lamp to check it out. Its dark, so I can't really punch it, but I sure can tell the difference! Amazing! Can't wait to do some flips and see if that makes inverted any easier :) Thanks for the heads up Sokal!

  • thanks and i have. i was trying to see if it would be ok with stock esc. but so far hasent even been warm to touch. i have a scorpion 45A that will be powering the motor (over kill i know but is thier for the scorpion -8 i really want. the sonic motor is a max of 28A so mot 100% if the motor is even taking it. but i do apreciate you help and thanks

  • Hi,

You say the motor is recommended for use with a 30A ESC and that you are using a 25A ESC. You seem to imply that the ESC will limit the current to 25A, this is not the case the motor will try to draw 30A from the ESC, this will cause the ESC to overheat and eventually burn out. Monitor the ESC temps if it gets too hot, I would suggest upgrading to a 30A ESC.

  • hay sokal11 can you tell me why my blade400 won't stop spinning the gyro wont help and i just got it for christmas so im new to the dx6i

  • im sorry did see your post in im a bit late

its the direction switch on the gyro normally

make tail spins properly in proper direction. blades in stalled properly

slider move opposite of stick input.

if so then it the switch on the gyo not in TX

  • very nice, I must go do that now!!!!

  • I just watched the video, then logged onto CNCHeli and ordered mine :)

  • Great mod. The heli does seem very responsive! Awesome job as usual.

  • Looks like someone has a lot more power in the there blade 400 lol, great job man,5*
